Is this the end?

Kimi had died and it was Lee’s fault. A charred spot on the carpet where they found her body was covered with a throw rug. After that weekend, his parents barely talked to him anymore. His dad had yelled at him and hit him. Her voice wouldn’t stop talking to Lee. The therapist said that for Lee to get better he needed to ignore the voices in his head, they would go away. He also recommended his parents leave the entertainment center in his room for if Lee were to become detached from it, he would never recover. He was told to not touch it, don’t look at it and push the voices away.

But Lee has finally reached his breaking point. How could so many voices sound like Kimi? Was he truly going mad? He wanted to destroy the entertainment center. He opened the doors and noticed a green light coming from a 3rd party console. He didn’t understand why it was glowing and somehow radiating warmth. Kimi’s voice called him more clearly from the console, “Lee”. He knew to get better he had to stop listening to the therapist and destroy this once and for all. He took his hammer and started slamming it into the console over and over. Fire consumed him and something was sucking him in while all he could see was green.

He started seeing messages and something about his soul downloading. He looked around and noticed he was standing in a small pool. His skin was stark white and he had 5 arrows stuck in him. He slowly pulled them out and with them came purple blood. His group was standing away from him but they all looked reasonably normally. He learns that he is cursed and something called a Volkarian. Then he receives a quest to save his sister at the bottom of the dungeon. And so it begins…

wonderful little book.

This book was a little smaller than I had expected but it was so fun. I appreciated the amount of care he shows for his sister as soon as he has an inkling of a way to help. Appreciate the humanity portion too. It’s ok to cry when your feelings are overwhelming.

Nice little story!

It’s an enjoyable origin story that while it doesn’t take too long seems to give a good background for the upcoming book! I hope the next one is as good!!
