I am a huge Narnia/C.S. Lewis fan. I don't always agree with all of his religious views, but love his writing, humor, logic and passion. I was hoping that this book would be something along the lines of those annotated books that I love to read with interesting information about side stories, the root of the ideas, etc. Of course it isn't Mr. Karkainen's fault that I was mistaken, but this book was mostly preaching. I realize that the Narnia books are metaphors for the bible and that Lewis was a devout Christian, but I felt that the author was using Narnia to proselytize rather than explain the books. If you are looking for that, that's fine. I would have preferred a more scholarly approach.

The language of the book is lovely and his knowledge of the stories is obvious.

One unexpected benefit of reading this book was all of the new vocabulary I acquired! Mr. Karkainen has an impressive way with words, and I enjoyed spending time looking into the definitions of those I didn’t recognize. His knowledge of the Narnia stories is very evident, and his passion for sharing the meaning behind them is clear. Because of this book, I’m now planning to read quite a few C.S. Lewis works I have not read yet!

This book kind of just read like a book report of the Narnia books. There wasn't really much new information given, which was disappointing.

A great book detailing each book in the Narnia series and discussing all the symbolism and various hidden meanings, including: Aslan, Narnia, the Pevensie children, and different creatures and scenarios.
