I began writing the @sex.in.the.Glasgow.city blogs in 2019 from my Instagram handle. The views shot up quickly and I was encouraged to write a book from my followers. During lockdown having more time than I normally have I began writing ‘A Glasgow Kiss’.

A Glasgow Kiss is about a young woman approaching thirty feeling pressured to settle down. She is single and joins an online dating site to find Mr right- however, her life suddenly spirals out of control.

THIS BOOK AHHHHHH

this book has really made me feel so much love, support and a kick up the ass that I’ve needed!

I thought this was going to be a spicy romance with the Scottish banter throughout it, which don’t get me wrong it sure is but this book is about the love you get from friends, motherhood and womanhood. Follow the girls Ava, Grace and Rebekah has been so good the last two days. I found a friend in each of them and this book really opened my eyes to pushing yourself and having the support of your friends is the most amazing thing.
The people who want the best for you will push you to do the best you can and maybe that’s the hot girl summer you need!

Let me be the first to say that I am someone who swears prolifically. But the constant use of ‘fuck, cunt, asshole’ in this book is just downright lazy writing and offers nothing to the story line. This book is terrible - I only gave it two stars because it kept me entertained enough to read it all the way through. Ava is downright vulgar yet she seems to have every man in London wanting to shag her, despite the fact that she left a tampon in for 3 months and seems to be a terrible alcoholic mother who would gladly have her child watch TV indoors for seven days straight. Bekah’s constant use of ‘babe’ was so irritating and the only character I vaguely liked was Grace - and there wasn’t enough of her story line, it felt rushed and like the author was just trying to cram in a plot twist at the end. Oh, and how convenient that Ava just happens to be offered a publishing contract right at the very end, as if those just magically grow on trees…

Also, the thing with the Scottish teacher was just weird, and once again, didn’t elevate the story line at all.

Didn’t love it, didn’t loathe it. Have read Sophia Gravia’s previous trilogy and enjoyed that however found this standalone a little meh with some random plot points that had no relevance. Did find some parts funny although some other points were a little grotesque and didn’t think they added anything to the storyline. I felt that the proofreading of the book was poor with quite a few errors. Wouldn’t rush to recommend unfortunately

I picked this book up for a little weekend girls trip I went on last week, because it sounded like the perfect book for that.

But I have to admit I didn't really enjoy the book. There was so much vulgar language in here - and it didn't even serve a point!
I also was confused why one perspective was written in first person and the other two in third person; it didn't make sense and also threw me off.
Plus, the plot wasn't that great either. A little predictable and it felt like the story was over before it really even began.
I appreciate the theme of female friendship and empowerment, but this book mostly fell flat for me.

It’s a great first book to start on especially if you’re from the UK!
Love the font of the book and the choice of slang words that you can relate to.Very Very relatable and has you giggling.The plot twists are so unpredictable but make the book feel spontaneous.Easy to read.And my favourite way of describing the book is it’s like reading your friends gossip.

The writing/words used to write this story were very different to what I'm used to, like when one of the main characters was nervous it was described as "my butthole was twitching" or "my sweat gathered down to my ass crack".. why? I didn't hate the story, but couldn't get over the "vulgar" language... in the first 3 pages the descriptions almost made me DNF right there and then.

What a delightful book to devour in the August sunshine ☀️

Ava, Grace and Rebeka are having a 💩 time. Ava is currently on a year long separation from her husband (who is an absolute tw*t) and is struggling with the breakdown of her marriage, loss of her home, and being unemployed. Grace, Ava’s twin, is unhappy with her stale marriage and is not enjoying the housewife life. And Rebeka is feeling unfulfilled at work, and is having relationship issues with her lover/boss. A well timed reunion propels the ladies back into each other’s lives after a little hiatus, and they declare that this will be their hot girl summer - the summer they sort their 💩 out and live their best lives. If only it was that easy…

I loved, loved, loved the friendship and love between these three women. I loved how, even after not being so close for a while, they just picked up right where they left off. They realised that they needed each other, that their lives were better when each other were in it. They lifted each other up and gave each other the confidence they needed to make those big decisions. Women supporting women, we love to see it 🩷🩷🩷

There were moments that were absolutely hilarious, laugh out loud funny. The author has a knack of being able to make her characters SO relatable. It was the same with Zara in her previous books. You just feel like you could be friends with them. I loved little Georgie too, and Beatrice. Adam was just the nicest character! And Richard, what a revelation! I never would have thought he’d turn out to be so swoon worthy at the beginning of the book 😅

Such a fun, feel good, uplifting read - definitely a must read for the summer season!

Hot Girl Summer was my first Sophie Gravia book, and it definitely won’t be my last. This book felt like a warm hug, a pep talk, and the kick up the backside I didn’t know I needed—all wrapped up in a hilarious, feel-good summer read.

Following Ava, Grace, and Rebeka (yes, this spelling did grate on me) was an absolute joy. Each woman brought something different to the story, and I genuinely felt like I found a friend in all three of them. At its heart, this book is about friendship, womanhood, motherhood, and having people in your corner who love you enough to support you—and push you when you need it. Sometimes the people who want the best for you are the ones who encourage you to take the scary leap, and maybe that's the real hot girl summer after all.

The friendships were easily my favourite part. Even after growing apart, the women slipped back into each other's lives as though no time had passed, reminding each other just how important their bond was. It was a beautiful celebration of women supporting women, and I loved every minute of it. 🩷

Sophie Gravia has a real talent for creating relatable characters. There were moments that had me laughing out loud, moments that nearly made me cry, and plenty of scenes that felt so real I could imagine these women as my own friends. Georgie and Beatrice were wonderful additions, Adam was an absolute sweetheart, and Richard? Let's just say he surprised me in the best possible way. 😅

Fun, fast-paced, cute, spicy, heartwarming, and wonderfully chaotic at times, Hot Girl Summer gave me everything I wanted from a summer read. Think Sex and the City vibes with plenty of banter, friendship, romance, and laugh-out-loud moments. It left me feeling uplifted, inspired, and grateful for the incredible women in my own life.

If you're looking for a book to devour in the sunshine, this is it. ☀️📖💕

This book has been on my TBR for a whileeee. I enjoyed the book but it wasn’t necessarily a literature masterpiece which wasn’t what I was expecting so I’m cool with that. I did think that Ava was a bit of a erm…bird at times and Becka is mentally still 16 years old, like you wouldn’t even think that these women are in their 30s. This books takes you through a story of three women realising that they are living a life that they are unhappy with and realised that they are setting and eventually end up levelling up and bettering themselves with the motivation that they gain from each other and I think that is just such a beautiful thing honestly. It’s so so inspiring to see. I love everything friendship and sisterhood. I value my friendships irl too and my friends mean the world to me I will always value my friends forever so it is so cute seeing a book that’s about friendships and stuff it’s just the cutestttt. It was what I needed this is good for people that want a palette cleanser

2.6 rounded up. I picked this book up at the Edinburgh bookstore and demolished it on my delayed plane lol. Honestly this book was a bit of a hot mess. Part of the issue is that there are three female leads. Although Ava is the “main” the inclusion of Beka and Grace’s POVs was distracting and honestly took away from the story. Not only that but it also made it feel like all of the stories were pretty surface level. Even their friendship seemed superficial at best. Beka is my least of the three and honestly didn’t seem like a good friend at all. Didn’t love the book but it was a quick and relatively entertaining read. Just turn your brain off and read it lol. Also idk what it is, if it’s a cultural thing??? or just the author trying to be…funny? But the amount of cuss words in this was honestly overwhelming and also detracted from the overall story

Between troubled love lives, affairs and job woes, they all need a shake-up. Who better to help you get your life on track than your girls?

This book is witty, uplifting and completely relatable. Although some of the topics are difficult, they're handled more lightly. Each character has their own issues in life and is in a different place. It's a reminder that talking about your problems can be a real help, and it's never too late in life to follow your dreams.

The writing wasn’t amazing and the overuse of bad language felt quite forced at times. That being said, I loved the overarching message about the importance of female friendship and how your girls will stick by you through it all. Life isn’t over just because it hasn’t gone to plan and it’s never too late to start over.

Hot Girl Summer is the peak of British humour, and I really enjoyed it. It is very vulgar in places, sometimes a bit unnecessary, but overall it added to the humour and the chaotic energy of the story.

The friendship element was very strong, and I loved that part, although I still felt like something was missing. Maybe a few scenes were simply not my cup of tea.

I have the feeling this could have easily been a four star read if I had had more time to sit down with it and finish it earlier.

Overall a funny book, perfect if you enjoy outrageous humour and messy friendship adventures😁
