I was supposed to be a pampered concubine of an alien prince. But somehow how I ended up on a remote planet. Worse, I'm married to the wrong guy.
You know what's worse than being stolen from Earth, sold to an alien pimp, and turned into the perfect concubine for a wealthy alien prince? Taking the wrong turn at a space port, landing on a colony planet in the middle of nowhere, and accidentally marrying a grouchy, mud-covered hermit who wanted a brawny wife to help with chores. The worst part? This colony doesn't allow divorce for three months, and I can't leave without my 'husband'. I'm stuck here, living in a shack, on the side of a mountain with a guy I can't stand. Or at least I tell myself I can't stand him.
Divine/Daisy (h), a human woman bound for a life of luxury as an alien prince's concubine, accidentally lands on the wrong planet and she finds herself thrust into a very different kind of relationship. Trombir (H), a gruff alien miner living in isolation on the remote planet Maemar VI, enters his mating phase and desperately needs a wife to enable him to have the children he'd all but given up on. He turns to a mail order bride service as females are rare on the mining planet and is less than thrilled when he see what his hard worked for credits have brought him, the pampered Divine. But since time is of the essence for Trombir, he marries Divine who's shocked when she realizes they’re suddenly bound together by law. Though their worlds couldn’t be more different, they reluctantly agree to give their marriage a trial period, with Divine hoping for an eventual annulment and Trombir hoping she'll come around. As they navigate their awkward new life together, Trombir and Divine both have a lot to learn about life, expectations, and one another. Trombir, who only wanted a practical wife to help him through his species' breeding phase, finds himself drawn to Divine in ways he never expected. Divine, initially desperate to escape, begins to question what she truly wants as she gets to know the real Trombir beneath his rough exterior. What starts as a strained relationship of necessity slowly transforms into something deeper as they get to know one another, and things heat up between the two. But when Divine’s past catches up with her, both must confront the lies they’ve told and their feelings for one another. Hot and steamy alien-human romance with plenty of humor and feels, exploring love, second chances, freedom, simple living and the realization that home is where the heart is—even if it’s in the most unlikely place. Gave me some ‘Seven Brides for Seven Brothers’ vibes (without the brothers) – she has her expectations about life and he isn’t really prepared for a wife in his life. Loved reading this and look forward to more Maemar VI stories.
Divine Daisy is an abducted human, groomed by a galactic pimp to be a concubine to an alien prince. Only she arrives on the wrong planet and finds herself married to a gruff, dirty alien miner. The marriage can’t be annulled for a month and the two are forced to stay together until then. Trombir, the alien miner order a bride to help him through his mating phase. It may be his last chance to have offspring. What he didn’t expect was a tiny female in gauzy clothes who looks down on him. These two had some epic verbal battles while falling for each other. I enjoyed the entire book especially the ending.
4.5 stars. Trombir, the male alien lead, can only have children whilst he’s in his “breeding” phase and he’s old enough that he thought he wasn’t going to get one. Now that he’s fertile, he applies for a mail order bride because his colony planet doesn’t have single females. Divine, the female human lead, was abducted from Earth and fortunate to be bought by an interstellar upmarket pimp. She’s been trained on all fashionable cultures and should be able to survive in any upper class gathering.
When Divine’s transport has her diverted to a mining planet, not a prince’s castle, she’s mortified beyond belief. Trombir is grumpy about this female who acts like a pet and won’t contribute to the life he’s established, though Divine points out that he hasn’t exactly provided stellar amenities. Trombir wants children and is willing to make the best of the situation but Divine wants the cushy life she was promised! Can Trombir convince Divine to take a risk on him? And what will her owner say…?
This novella is dual POV, well written, and a sweet and steamy, mail order, alien/human romantic comedy. I found both lead characters a bit over the top to begin with but I appreciated how they developed against one another. I enjoyed Trombir’s growing revelation around intercourse, which he’d never had or wanted to explore before. I enjoyed his growing understanding of how his previous lifestyle wasn’t conducive to a family, and the changes he then made. I enjoyed Divine’s growing self-awareness, and her realisation of what she actually wanted and why she’d initially made the choices she did. I enjoyed their steamy intimate scenes, and the growing relationship. I enjoyed the resolution and appreciated the planetary liaison who facilitated Divine’s presence - I’m looking forward to his story.
I received a complimentary copy from the author and this is my voluntary honest review.
This is book one and was a fun read with lots of good banter between the main characters Trombir and Daisy aka Divine. The story begins with Trombir realizing that he needs a bride due to his mating fever beginning. So he takes like half of his savings and orders a bride. However, to his surprise the beautiful human female named Daisy is not the bride that he ordered. There was an issue at the original transport. Due to the agreements and law, Daisy cannot go back. Will they survive each other for the mandatory time? There is a happy ending. Read On!
I enjoyed this story very much and looking forward to read more of this series! Divine/Daisy is abducted, bought in auction by a frivolous alien pimp and molded to be a pampered concubine. But a mistake land her in a planet that looks like the old west and a grumpy miner as husband. Tumbir is on his mating fase and has one month to sway her to stay.... Well written with a fluid narrative ,a good plot(loved the twist in the mail order bride) and characters captivating and often complex. If you like mail order brides, grumpy alien and plot twists this book is perfect for you!
I really enjoyed Alien Hermit’s Bride by Reba Max. It has the feel of a western as it features a town like that of the wild west but with aliens. Divine has been taken from earth and prepped to be a prince’s toy but winds up in a backwater shack near Trombit’s mine instead. After a mining accident, the two learn to get along and fall in love. Then the life she was supposed to live catches up with them and she has to make a choice. Love the world building!
This book doesn’t have the danger I normally look for, but with all the tension between the two characters, I didn’t miss it at all. There was so much tension between the two main characters that it completely captured my attention. Even when things were starting to to look up for the couple the tension returned making me wonder how things would turn out.
Daisy got on the wrong shuttle and ended up with an uncouth husband. Trombir was expecting a bride and he was going to take whatever he got. Sparks did fly! Enjoy
