This Author has yet to disappoint me! Each read is different in this Genre. Love her writing style, her plots, and how she twists things around to make it believable. A 5 star every time!
Else Douglas has another winner but she always comes to the plate hitting a home run. As a fan of time travel yarns I had a hard time going to bed until I finished. I liked that our heroine was able to make multiple trips to save the town and loved ones. The ending was a bonus.
Fellow time travel readers, I have a new one that is totally awesome!
Elyse Douglas's "Time Parallel" is a compelling tale of love, loss, and the intricate dance with destiny. The protagonist, Harper Close, is a 30-year-old woman grappling with the aftermath of a devastating tornado that claims the lives of her family. As she stands amidst the ruins of her once-familiar life, another storm catapults her into a parallel reality one week before the disaster. In this alternate world, Harper is confronted with unsettling differences and a family that does not recognize her, fueling a narrative rich with emotional turmoil and suspense. Harper's journey is a poignant exploration of the human spirit's resilience. Struggling to navigate a world where she is a stranger to her own family, she must convince them of the looming danger, all while evading a sinister figure from the town's past. Douglas weaves a story that is as much about reconciling with the past as it is about changing the future. The dual realities present a unique challenge, blurring the lines between what is and what could be and thrusting Harper into a race against time.
The novel's strength lies in its ability to merge the fantastical elements of time travel with the raw, authentic experiences of its characters. Harper Close is a relatable protagonist whose determination and vulnerability resonate deeply. Her struggle is not just against the forces of nature or the perplexing rules of time travel but also against the skepticism and fear that greet her attempts to alter fate. Douglas's portrayal of Harper is a testament to the complexity of human emotions when faced with extraordinary circumstances. "Time Parallel" is a testament to Elyse Douglas's mastery of the time travel genre, delivering a story that is both thrilling and thought-provoking. It invites readers to ponder the possibilities of 'what if' and the power of one person to make a difference. The novel is a journey through time that offers more than just escapism; it provides a mirror to our own lives, questioning how we deal with loss, embrace love, and, ultimately, how we choose to face the storms that life throws our way.
As a bit of a time-travel enthusiast I was pleasantly surprised to be utterly and comprehensively gripped by this novel by Elyse Douglas. Switching between timelines not of her choosing, Harper Close has one week to warn her town of a forthcoming storm that will shatter the town and kill many of her close family.
I was taken aback slightly, finding it difficult to put this book down. Whenever I did I couldn’t wait to return to it and find out what happens next.
Yes I put this in my top 5 Time-Travel reads. Allow me to inform you of my top 4 in this genre.

If this world ain’t cutting it for you….travel into another.
I have been reading the husband/wife writing team of Elyse Douglas, now, for several books. When I saw that a brand New novel was to be released, I was quick to pre-order the book. I am so pleased to say how well-developed, storywise, this novel is. Not to give away Any Spoilers, the action within Time Parallel, as well as the ultimate question as to how changes in the past will change the future, as well as ...Vice Versa, helps make this novel a Very Recommended Reading Experience !!! Very Impressive writing team ! Very enjoyable and TIME WELL SPENT. Novel is extremely Thought Provoking! The characters, as they expand throughout the novel, are not only very interesting, but very well developed. This was a very difficult book to put down !! THANK YOU !! Please-- Keep these books coming !!!
I always enjoy novels by Elyse Douglas and this one is great. Very believable characters and good story. This is about a young woman who has lost most of her family in a terrible tornado. She goes to see the devastation to her home town and is thrown back in time into another parallel life. She tries to warn people about the tornado but most don’t believe her. The story goes on to tell of her attempts to save her family and others. Does she? You have to read this story to find out.
I didn’t enjoy this book quite as much as their others. It had an interesting plot, but the love story was not as good as in previous books. The characters were shallower. But I’m comparing the stories to the authors previous ones. The story was still very enjoyable but compared to the ones I have read, not quite up to my expectations. Compared to other writers in this genre, still a well done book.
The authors Douglas have found another twisted tale to tell. They made falling into a parallel world believable in a tightly written narrative. The long setup was necessary so that it gave the convoluted story a foundation. The traveler’s love life got bit confusing but the most unbelievable part of the story was that the US Postal Service was able to make the jump between two worlds!
I read one of her earlier books. This one is much better; she has really grown as a writer. Douglas found a good balance—she could describe a situation without over-doing it.
The main character went back and forth between two parallel universes in such a way that it really grabbed and held onto my interest. There was no lag in the middle like many novels.
What a feel-good, mystery story with knowable characters and plot twists to keep you until the end. All this author's books create a similar feeling of nostalgic times, self-discovery and romance all wrapped up in time travel. To the author: your books just keep getting better. Please keep up the excellent story telling!
Although this book has an interesting plot, it didn’t quite meet my expectations. I do love a good time travel/multiverse story, and the bare bones of this story are good. However, the romance felt a little lacklustre and I was disappointed at nobody believing her story … it turned out to be just an ok read ….
It was a little harder to believe than time travel (haha as if time travel is believable). Parallel jumping was weird for me. Having said that, it held my interest and the last quarter of the story, I didn't want to stop reading. It seriously cut into my sleep time but I had to continue. I recommend this story. Its a goid one.
Another great time travel novel by Douglas - I just can’t get enough of these books! In this one, Harper Close has reiterated red to Ohio to face the devastating loss of her parents and brother In a tornado. While there she is transported back in time (twice) and does everything g in her power to try and save her family and other community residents. Will she be successful? Read it and see!
You can't read just one. I love Elude Douglas time travel books. Harper gets thrown into a time parallel where she does as a child. Everyone is suspicious of her, she finds some trouble but she needs to save the town's people from a terrible tornado that she knows is co!omg their way.
The is the best book they've written. I couldn't put it down. What a page turner. The characters are believable and the story is crazy and out of this world. I'd like to believe that parallel universes exist. I absolutely loved this book!
A really enjoyable tale. I love time travel stories. This was a new and different concept story. Sad that I finished it so quickly, which says how much I enjoy a story when I read it so quickly. Couldn't put it down. Look forward to reading more from Elyse. 💕
I've really enjoyed reading these time travel books by the dynamite writing team of Elyse and Douglas. I'm going to read everything they write! I'm glad I found these books. I have to go, time to read another one...
It held you spellbound wondering how this was going to work its way out. Excellent story line. Harper was very riveting in her determination to save her family.
It is a very story. It was difficult for me to stop reading until I finish. The characters were well develop and there was a lot of creativity in the story.
