Sonny Silvestre has had a troubled life. Orphaned at the age of twelve, he was forced to give up the only thing he owned to his body.
Nine years later, Sonny’s a young adult attending a wealthy Ivy League, struggling to make ends meet. Then he encounters Nathaniel Cross, a mysterious man who subverts Sonny’s expectations in the world of the one percent. What starts as an infatuation quickly turns into an obsession.
After a lifetime of surviving alone, Sonny is receptive to Nathaniel’s unspoken devotion; because despite all of the man’s efforts, he never demands sex from Sonny, in fact, he refuses it. All his life, Sonny’s been treated like a body to use. With Nathaniel, he’s more than that. With him, Sonny feels like a person. That’s why it’s so easy to turn a blind eye to the odd fixation Nathaniel has with him.
There’s only one thing Sonny’s figured out.
Nathaniel’s a part of the mafia.
Sonny realizes Nathaniel’s obsession with him must be linked to his tortured past; the problem is, he’s not sure he cares. Because what if the safety Nathaniel provides is worth the danger that comes with it?
Echelon is a dark romance novel and contains mature subject matter.
I loved that this book had me hooked from start to finish, and I'm not much of a reader at all, but it made me feel like I'm watching a show in my head. I'm not lying when I say this book had me on the edge of my seat and on the verge of breaking down crying in some scenes. It's an amazing love story between two broken people that are meant to be together, even though they have their dark secrets and rough past'. I absolutely recommend this to everyone in the LGBTQ+ community, it can be very close to home at certain points, but I think thats why I love it so much, it shows a more real side to the lgbt experience. It may not be relatable to everyone in the lgbt community but for people like myself it made me feel seen.

I love that the cover has little pieces of the ending in the picture of the cover, which is so unique, and I haven't seen many people do that. Major props to the author for pulling that off. The end is so heartbreaking; the way Nathan and Sonny's chemistry grows as you read more and more, it feels like you're in the relationship with them. I love that we arent seeing a entirely bubbly relationship all the time. We are seeing people that need to heal in order to love eachother which makes it so much more realistic.
Disclaimer
There are so many times where I tear up because of a certain hardship a Sonny goes through that reminds me of myself of having to use your body to please people because you feel like it's all you have and this book does a great job shedding light to that and focuses on how we can find that one person in our lives that will truly love us without having to perform. It makes me hopeful of a world where we can grow to learn each others differences and communicate the way Sonny and Nathan do. Anyway loved this book so Much and I believe it is worth all 5 stars.
