Near Perth's Bell Tower, a woman is slain by a hit-and-run driver and left to die on the street.
Tracing her last movements, Detective Tony Packer and his team discover a violent ex-husband waging bitter custody dispute over their daughter, an overprotective father, a distant mother, a traumatic childhood and a friend from her past.
No one is telling the truth and everyone has something to hide.
Something much uglier, much darker, lurks beneath the surface.
Something that should have been left in the silence.
A Bitter Silence is the third in a new series of knife-edge thrillers set in the underbelly of Perth, Western Australia.
Perfect for fans of JD Kirk, Ian Rankin, Jack Gatland, JM Dalgleish, Patricia Cornwell and other police procedural thrillers.
Packer is back solving another murder, with Claire Perry as his main sidekick for this investigation. As well as the usual really well written characters and surprise twists, we get more insight into how the team works together and Packer’s unusual skills.
There is also some surprising humour mixed in with the tragedy, which works well.
The ending was completely unexpected and totally shocking.
Tony Packer and his team investigate the death of a woman who is run down by a driver during a storm. As they dig into her background we learn more about her and the list of suspects grows.
As always with JT Viner’s books, there are twists which completely change what we think we know, and the final conclusion is not what we expect.
The third book in the series of Packer mysteries is the best so far. The characters are more developed, the plot twists are more unexpected and the final reveal is more surprising.
Great characters, great story,
But now I have to wait for the next one to come out!
