I’ve won the bride trials and married my dragon shifter prince. But happy endings aren’t that easily won in the Ice Fae kingdom.
His best friend, Thorne, tells me that he keeps the prince’s lost memories of our past life together. That through those memories, he’s fallen in love with me.
And that Kaelan is about to kill me.
He's under a dark enchantment. And now Thorne and I have to run, because my prince will come to hunt us down, to kill Thorne for his betrayal and to drag me back to be his queen... until the enchantment overcomes him.
If we can find the antidote to the enchantment, we can save him. And ourselves.
But will we stay one step ahead of the dragon prince long enough to cure his enchantment?
And what will happen if by the time Kaelan catches me... I don't want to be just his queen?
Ooh it’s like May Dawson heard my wish and gave us a book that focused mainly on Thorn eand Hanna. Thorne is bae and def the best guy in the harem imo, even with the bit of angst and back and forth we got in this book. Kaelan is growing on me but Dare still has work to do. But I think book 3 will have more answers and hopefully give me more connection and romance between those two.
The action was exciting and the book constantly kept me on the edge of my seat. I think this series is one of my favorite to come from May 🤩
*Reverse Harem *Multi-PoV *Fantasy *forced marriage *ex-lovers *touch her and 💀 *dragon shifters *prophecy *established harem (3) *fast burn *2/3 Lots going on! There’s plenty happening in this book to keep you moving through the pages 😃 it picks up immediately with Hanna having to make a decision as to who to follow and boy does it being some repercussions 🙈 they’re being attacked on all fronts; they’re wary of Edric; then there’s the monsters; but also Seraphine seems to have an agenda of her own 😖 although it seems that an enemy of my enemy may become a short term ally 😮 You get to see the development of Thorne and Hanna’s relationship in this book as they finally let themselves admit what they are feeling, after a veryyyy rocky journey where Thorne has done nothing but protect this princess 😍 and Kaelan who is his own worst enemy but really shows the connection he has to our FMC and his friends 🥰 lastly Dare who might just be forced to admit there may be more to his thoughts on Hanna 😅 it will be interesting to see how this develops in the next book…
Hanna and her friends have found themselves in some seriously twisted dark danger. This was nonstop action. Very limited spice for those who want to know. The story itself is quite fun. I can’t wait to read the next one.
The story so far (bc I will forget by the time the next book comes out).
This is the follow up series to The Royal Dragons series with Honor as the FMC with her 8 dudes. The twins, the shadow guy that used to control zombies, King Jaik, King Caldren, Arren (who she banged while he was a monster), Talisyn (who finally got his memories back), and Damyn. Cinderella vibe. Adopted. Evil stepmother. She’s a maid at the academy. Loves her little sis, Hanna. They save the world by overthrowing the guys’ evil dads, who killed her parents when they tried to undo the curse that made everyone shifters, but also created zombies; who then summoned a chaos god to become immortal. Her uncle is the king of a neighboring land. The snake queen is always looking for trouble, and has beef w/ Honor for kicking her ass in the gladiator arena.
Cut to Hanna, age 18, falls in love with ice dragon prince but for some reason they decide to erase his memory of their love so his dad can’t read his mind and find out….stuff?? So he loses his memories and breaks her heart. Cut to 5 years later. He’s still kinda obsessed with her and traps her into being his bride, but his dad springs these “bride trials” on them and she has to dance, make a magic topiary, walk through a forest of horrors, etc… all while someone is trying to ☠️ her. Meanwhile, the daughter of the snake queen is there, not competing, but planning to marry him anyway. Kae is the prince, Thorne is in love with her too, and Dare is the grumpy one. In book one, they defeat a family trying to usurp the throne, and get married real quick before anything else can go wrong.
Book 2: something else went wrong. 🐍 daughter enchanted Kae to ☠️ Hanna, which he almost does a few times…sort of. Thorne takes her away on their wedding night. We spend the book running from him and getting the cure. 🐍 girl gets her hooks in deep and gets his dad onboard to have Kae be a mindless thrall of a king (makes no sense). She makes herself look like Hanna. Kae almost beats Thorne to death and almost marries 🐍 girl. Hanna comes to the ~rescue and eventually snaps him out of it and kills 🐍 girl. 🐍 👑 shows up to steal back her monsters from 🐍 girl, then just leaves her to get killed. Bad king let Thornes home be attacked, so now they’re all on the run and plotting to kill him. Kae decides to let Thorne in on the harem action. So, they’ve gotta kill bad dad king and keep an eye on 🐍 👑, who always wants war 🤷♀️. Oh, and Honor’s uncle has an heir to the Gray Kingdom running around as a pickpocket.

going into this book, i was a bit surprised at the pacing cause it both felt faster than book 1 but theyre roughly the same length page wise. so it was interesting. also loved how we got to meet kaelan's mom, she's an interesting character even if it was brief. and her misunderstanding too when hanna said she married kaelan, not realizing how many years passed since her death. hanna & thorne's push and pull made me wanna pull an alys and slap them too tbh, mostly cause both were just being stubborn to be stubborn. ALSO i found it interesting and hope its answered later, the part where that magician went on about how alys never mentioned she had a brother and the part about the blood not being a partial match for alys's like dna wise. like new mystery for thorne???? and the snake queen's tid bit about honor & hanna was interesting, makes me wonder where she got that info?? or if she just presumes it. while seraphine gets what she deserves specially after all she put kaelan through, i cant help but wonder what her past was with him? kaelan seems to mention her looking at him with wonder when they were younger?? going near the end though one cant wait for book three but also loving how quick kae & thorne were about not making hanna choose!! younger jaik & tali could learn from them lol
Heart of Deceit was so good I loved the action and the characters. In book one Hanna marries Prince Kaelan (goes by Kae to his close friends) and gets whisks away by Thorne (Kae's cousin) because something that he found out had happened to Prince Kaelan before the wedding and he had to warn Hannah and get her away before something bad would happen to her. Hannah is Honors younger sister and has always loved Prince Kaelan when she was a young Princess and full of mischief. Hannah is also a Fire Dragon Shifter like her older sister Honor. Prince Kaelan is an Ice Dragon Shifter and he can do some pretty cool things with his magical gift. In book Kaelan gets enchanted by a potion from the Snake Queen's daughter of which he never knew happened until Thorne caught up with her and got the information out of her. Thorne is Kaelan's cousin and is also a dragon shifter.. Thorn is also a caring friend to Kaelan and would do anything to save his Prince and cousin's life. Dare is Kaelan's best friend and they treat each other like brothers. Dare would also do anything to protect Kaelan. So, if you love Dragons, Magic, Men who love there lady and battles then this book might be for you.
This book was so worth the wait. I absolutely fell in love with the characters in the first book and could not wait to see what would happen in this one. We have Hanna she just won the trials and has wed Kaelan but Thorne convinces her on her wedding night she needs to flee because Kaelan is enchanted and it’s up to them to save him. I just feel so bad for them, they have been through so much to finally get together and then are pulled apart again. I did love getting to see more of Thorne and getting his point of view of things. The way he carries Kaelan memories for him and through this fell in love with Hanna. The time they spend to get her also allows for Hanna to realize how he feels and to realize her feelings. We are left on a a rough ending. It’s a bit of a cliffhanger and I cannot wait to get into the next book to learn more about Dare and to hopefully see everyone get their HEA. Currently Kaelan is my favorite of the group but I’m thinking Dare might be able to take that crown. I absolutely recommend this book for anyone looking for a good dragon RH, second chance, enemies to lovers book. It is amazing and deserves a read
Heat of Deceit is the second book in the Royal Ice Dragons series. The first book was amazing, but this second book was even better.
I loved how the whole plot developed with Hanna, Kaelan, Thorne, and Dare. Hanna and Kaelan are married but their enemies are still trying to keep them apart. Thorne sweeps Hanna away because Kae is enchanted and Throne has to protect them...even if it is hard for him. Danger is everywhere and from so many sides that it keeps you on your toes...along with these characters. Plenty of action keeps readers immersed in the story the whole time.
I loved getting to see more of Thorne, of how things progressed with him and Hanna. It was great to see Kae mature and become so much more. And things with Dare, gave readers a nice teaser into him and what could be in the future.
Hanna is a lot like her sister and I love how devoted, brave, and smart she is. She loves hard and fiercely. I can't wait to see what book three brings us.
I voluntarily reviewed copy of "HEART OF DECEIT" WOW!!! What an amazing story intense, intriguing, suspense, danger, steam, forced marriage, reverse harem romance you can't put down. Hanna married to Kaelan after she won the trials but its Thorne who comes to her on her wedding night to tell her that Kaelan has been enchanted & they have to save him, they've been through so much just to be pulled apart again enjoyed getting to know Thorne he carries Kaelan memories for him that's how Hanna learns the feelings he has for her. I definitely recommend to get this riviting, interesting journey Hanna, Kaelan, Thorne & Dare take you on their enemies are still after them trying to keep them apart, there's danger all around, so much action, you can't stop reading, it's a must read you don't want to miss. I can't wait for the next book to see what's going to happen can't come soon enough I loved it. EXCELLENT INTERESTING ROMANCE 🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤
Heart of Deceit is the second book in the Royal Ice Dragons series. It picks up right at the cliffhanger that book 1 left us on. Hanna and Kaelen had just gotten married, and Thorne risks everything to take Hanna away to safety in hopes of preventing Kaelen - who’s unknowingly under a spell - from killing her.
Hanna is coming into her own more and more as the story progresses, and she’s finally figuring out who she is and what she wants outside of being Honor’s little sister. I am here for it! It’s great to see her acting according to her own beliefs, needs, and wants; no longer constantly comparing herself to Honor and considering herself inferior in comparison.
The world building is excellent, and the relationships between the characters are realistic and complex. I loved seeing Hanna through the eyes of Thorne, and learning how he came to love her. I can’t wait for book 3!
I loved this continuation of the story and we saw a lot of character growth in thus.
My favorite character in this book was Thorne. Ugh, he was sooo sweet and would do absolutely anything for Hanna. Kai made me feel so many things from anger at his shortsightedness to sadness at everything he's gone through.
Dare was my second favorite! I'm so glad we got to dive further into his character and see how Hanna and him got to further their friendship (maybe more??)
One of my favorite quotes of the book would have to be the following: “Your love is wild and exciting, all barbed banter and sharp edges. It’s a struggle for control that makes me feel alive.”
I loved the banter between the characters in this book as it showed that you can be happy, if you just believe in love enough and are willing to fight for it!
Action packed! Constant movement and scenes that move quickly.
We pick up where we left off in the first book with plenty of enemies still surrounding our group and relationships still being established. I feel like each book is going to be establishing a new relationship. Book 1 was Kaelan, this book was Thorn (spoiler? Idk it seemed obvious) and I’m hoping book 3 will be Dare. His stoic standoffish ways just bring something to the group.m that they don’t realize is missing YET.
The action in this book! I felt like they never stopped moving trying to solve problem after problem. Not in a chaotic hard to follow type of way, but in a very clear flow of events. We still have some major enemies to defeat, but some progress was made toward a HEA. Definitely not a fluff piece. This book was essential to the storyline.
This was was a great follow up to book one. And what a follow up it is. If the characters and the plot pipe your interest from book one, well book two seals it. I feel so bad for these two, they have gone through so much and still continue.
So we pick up where Hanna won the trials and is now we to Kaelan, but oh no they just cannot live happily ever after just yet. Someone convinces Hanna that in order to save her husband she must leave him. So she flees with Thorn. On their journey things happen, feelings are realized.
So what will become of them? Will she save her husband? I can say this, the ending was rough, I need book three now!!!
Can I also add I love dragons and throw in RH and this is a winner for me. If you also like said things, or really just a well written story, Grab this series.
Heart of Deceit, the second book in the Royal Ice Dragons series by May Dawson was utterly riveting and the perfect combination we all needed after the first and that tantalizing cliffhanger and explosive ending to Hanna and Kaelen getting married!
This story continues with all the same gut wrenching drama and endless action and Thorne works to save Hanna from an enchanted Kaelen as well as all the other enemies and danger lurking around every corner. I loved that no matter what the illusion and spell he was under Kaelen always stayed true as well as the deep love and connection she developed with Thorne. And oh my heavens I need the next story stat because I need more of our sexy secretive Dare! May is a true mastermind at creating characters and worlds that we can’t get enough of and thus one is definitely that!
First off I have to say that this is a gorgeous cover. I love dragons, so a dragon on a cover is a total winner for me.
We get so much more Thorne in this book, and at the moment I admit I kinda like him more than Kaelan, sorry Kae. Things are getting crazier, if that's possible and now Honor's sister, Hanna is on the run with her husband's best friend, from her actual husband. See told you...crazy. But honestly, it makes sense. I promise.
Hanna, Kaelan, Thorne, and Dare are being attacked from all fronts. From Kaelan's father, Edric, the snake queen and lastly her viper of a daughter, Seraphine. There are enemies around every corner and sometimes an unlikely ally.
I'm lovely the denied feelings from Dare and Hanna, I mean that's going to happen right? It has to at some point. Or could it be the author just teasing us. Guess we will find out in the next book.
I absolutely loved this second book in the series! Hannah can be tiresome at times with her snark and wit, but she is loyal, stubborn, and fierce. She is willing to stand by her friends' sides through everything. I finally came to see the appeal of Kaelan in this book since he's always been treating her so badly, I couldn't understand how they fell in love on the first place! Thorne is still honorable, true, and loyal, and he risks everything to help Kaelan and Hannah. Hannah and Dare even get to become closer friends through the search for the potion to save Kaelan, and I can't wait to see what happens in the third book! Definitely recommend this series to lovers of RH and dragons, magic and adventurous mayhem!
Poor Hanna can’t seem to catch a break! She’s finally with the one she loves…until he’s cursed. She has to choose between the one she’s always loved and the one she’s starting to love. How does a girl choose that? But to save Kaelan she’ll do anything; even risk her own life. Meanwhile Thorne will also risk everything for his best friend and the girl he has been in love with from the start. This book was so good and before I knew it, it was over with another cliffhanger! What happened to Dare? Where did he go? And why does Hanna feel a pull to him as well? Well why choose?!
Highly recommend this series; you won’t regret it!

The second book in Hanna’s story was a lot to take in. So much happened in this story that my brain is still trying to process. Dragons *swoon*. Hanna reminds me so much of her sister, Honor. She is independent, brave, stubborn, and would do anything for those she loves. Kaelan I am starting to understand more and see him as lost and broken deep down and with Hanna by his side he can truly be himself once he deals with his father. Thorne, and what he goes through broke my heart but he would sacrifice himself for those he loves. Dare is a mystery. I was rooting for him but his disappearing act has me wondering what will happen next. I can wait to see what May has for us in the next book!
Hanna finally getting to marry kai has a dificult decision right off the start. Thorne finding out the snake queens daughter has poisened kai into wanting to kill his new bride runs off and convinces hanna to leave with him. Follow along as hanna and thorne try to find a way to break the curse. Making impossible decisions and following along the path thorne makes a hard decision on forcing hanna to leave him on his own with the snake queen or saving kai. The story is fast paced and easy to keep wanting to read. It was worth the wait from the original release date. Find out what happens to hanna thorne and dare as they fight to break the curse.
This is the second book in the Royal Ice Dragons series following the cliffhanger in book 1 Hanna and Kaelen getting married and Thorne takes Hanna away to keep an enchanted Kaelen from killing her. This book takes us along for the ride as their enemies and danger are everywhere and from so many sides!
We get to see more of Thorne, how he has loved Hanna through his best friend’s memories, of how things progressed with him and Hanna. But we still get to watch Kaelen mature and how a new relationship will form without making Hanna choose.
Then add things with Dare-book three hopefully brings this group together for a group HEA!
Second book of the series and love it. Hanna is a feisty young woman and knows how to stand on her own. But she is willing to do anything to save and protect the men she cares for. The story has slowly been building the emotional part of the relationships. Sometimes it takes a nudge and sometimes a knife to get them to acknowledge how they feel. Kaelan, Thorne and Dare are some tough males. There are so many things happening between a possible war and several evil villains. The story keeps you on your toes and guessing what will happen next. The heat level does get pretty hot and I have a feeling it will only get hotter.
If things weren’t crazy in the Ice Kingdom, they’re about to get a whole lot crazier. As in all the adventure of running from the baddies while plotting to save a lovey. Renewed bonds, broken promises, betrayal, discovery, it’s all here!
Hanna is willing to stand and fight for her love. She’s lasted this long, she can keep going. Thorne is resolute and willing to all it takes to keep Hanna happy and safe. This wild ride is indicative of the author’s plotting and ability to draw readers in and then twist them up completely! I can’t wait to keep going in book in book three. Also, I defined more Jaia and Azora because there is SO much more to them!
This series is such an adventure!! Book 2 picks up right where book 1 ended. Right away we're thrusted into action and betrayal. Hanna is such a fierce FMC. She's brave, tough, smart, snarky and so devoted. Even her guys, Kaelan, Thorne and Dare can't hate her, as much as they try. You can't help but fall in love with these characters and want them to prevail over the villains. I loved every minute of this book. It's one of those stories that has a little bit of everything- magic, betrayal, an enchanted prince, a princess on the run, steam and dragons! Oh, and nonstop action!! I can't wait to see what happens next because I love this world!!
This is the second book in this dragon stifter why choose series, where the author chooses a different type of relationship building then I’m used to. Where book one was focused on the relationship with Kaelan, this second book revolves around her connection with Thorne.
Most of all, I’m enjoying the worldbuilding in this series, and experiencing all the different parts of this world. Combine it with fascinating magic, royalty, intrigue and you end up with an enticing series. These characters aren’t always easy to love though, so it helps if you like complicated people and messy relationships. I’m looking forward to see what adding a third man will do…
Really enjoyed this book, it was very easy to follow and read and so hard to put down! It is great getting the male pov and it being equally as interesting as our female main character. Also makes you appreciate a character more hearing about their thoughts and how they actually feel in their pov vs their actions and how other characters may perceive them. Excited for the next book. Overall, I love the world of Honor & Hanna and their men and I hope the sisters are reunited in the end even if this is Hanna’s new home.

This book was everything I could want. We pick up where book 1 left off, and man was that a doozy. Now we have Hanna who is already confused trying to figure everything out. By the end I kept wishing Dare would get his life together. The author has a way of engulfing your life until you finish the book…and possibly a few days after. I was a huge fan of Hanna’s sisters books, so it’s no surprise I’m in love with this series too. If you like action, dragons, romance, and huhum…steam…. Then gather round cause this is a story for you.
Wow, this book really tugged at my heartstrings! I never expected to feel so strongly for Kaelan but he really impressed me by the end of the book. Hanna also really impressed me. Her love is so pure and loyal, the guys are extremely lucky to have her. I really enjoyed getting to know both Thorne and Dare better, but definitely Thorne opened up the most out of the two (shocker). I’m really excited for book 3 tho cause I think we will finally get a look behind the curtain at Dare and what makes him tick.
This book picks up where Hanna has just won the trials and is married to Kaelan. Where book 1 was definitely about Hanna and Kaelan, book 2 is definitely centered around Hanna and Thorne. Thorne tells Hanna she can't trust Kaelan and he needs to get her away from him. Hanna and Thorne aren't smooth sailing at first. Hanna is confused and doesn't know who to trust. Can she trust Thorne? Kaelan? Is something wrong with Kaelan? Is everything Thorne is saying true and if so how do they save Kaelan and themselves? Where does Dare fit in? Does Hanna get all of her loves....
I loved this continuation! Well paced and action packed, we dive on in as Hanna who we thought had finally got her hea, discovers that now she must flee to save herself and Kaelan. More trouble is on the horizon as Kaelan suffers a dark enchantment and they must hunt down the antidote to save the day. Exciting, gripping, and totally captivating, the author does a fantastic job, weaving their magic and drawing us in and hooking us every step of the way and I have to say I am excited for book three!
