The Catcher #2

Swing For the Fences

Rate this book
Those who grew up in a stereotypical suburb can relate to Bianca Ferrari, Skyler Swanson, and their crew. There’s always that one girl whose parents allow ragers in the basement, the one girl who dates someone just to get in with their friends, and the one girl who tries to break up the cutest couple in school. For Bianca and Skyler, this girl is Makenna “Make Way” Wayland. Despite everything these high school sweethearts have already been through, they are challenged once their relationship is public. With Skyler’s anxiety over the wake-boarding accident and Bianca’s jealousy over an old flame, will these two strike out or swing for the fences?

I came for the baseball and softball but I stayed for Buzz, Skyler, and thier friends. I finished books 1 to 3 in two days and they are great reads. I'm trying to slow down on 4 because I don't want the story to end. More baseball and softball could be desired. But otherwise I loved it.

Great 2nd half

Second half of the love story was another hit. Language might be an issue for some, but the character development is there. Can't wait to read part three.

it’s just meh

I liked the idea/storyline of the first one, read this one thinking it would be similar and it was but HOLY FLIPPING PANCAKES Bianca is the most whiney and Maryjane-ish damsel in distress.

Yes, it was tolerable in the first book, but it just NEVER stopped. Oh I hit my head honey save me every other freaking chapter. The other characters aren’t much better. The constant use of the word f/ck was annoying, not every teenager has to be that gd disrespectful all the time.

Spice level 🌶️ it’s just ugh not worth your time

Bianca, or Buzz, and Skylar continue on to navigate through their relationship and learning how to support each other through their trauma together. With the stress of Skylar’s PTSD (that he is hiding) and Buzz’ struggle to maintain a healthy life, their relationship is continued to be tested.

This is the second book in The Catcher Series. This book was less realistic than the first, and the love story seemed a bit repetitive. Not as good as book one, 2/5.
