Jennifer Wilck is an award-winning contemporary romance author for readers who are passionate about love, laughter, and happily ever after. Known for writing both Jewish and non-Jewish romances, her books feature damaged heroes, sassy and independent heroines, witty banter and hot chemistry. Jennifer’s ability to transport the reader into the scene, create characters the reader will fall in love with, and evoke a roller coaster of emotions, will hook you from the first page. You can find her books at all major online retailers in a variety of formats.
Jennifer started telling herself stories as a little girl when she couldn’t fall asleep at night. Her favorite stories to write are those with smart, sassy, independent heroines; handsome, strong and slightly vulnerable heroes; and her stories always end with happily ever after.
In the real world, she’s the mother of two amazing daughters and wife of one of the smartest men she knows. She believes humor is the only way to get through the day and does not believe in sharing her chocolate.
The Perfect Deception is the third in Jennifer Wilck’s The Perfect Match trilogy and it doesn’t disappoint. This series focuses on young Jewish professionals navigating love and their careers.
In this story, we meet Dina Jacobs, a librarian who loves to read, as she’s discovered a pothole has caused her car to get a flat tire. When a handsome man stops to help, she wonders if he’s a knight in shining armor or a serial killer.
The man is Adam Mandel, a lawyer we’ve met in previous books. He has no idea why he’s attracted to this woman with frizzy hair, who carries a bit too much weight, who’s super smart, and who spouts off random facts—“…seven percent of men aren’t comfortable letting the woman pay the check…”—when she’s nervous. But he is.
And this “opposites attract” premise is what gives this story its strength, humor, and realism.
Adam is up for junior partner at his father’s law firm. But he’s missed deadlines and the promotion is in jeopardy. On top of that, Adam’s suffers from an abandonment issue. His mother left when he was young, and he believes it’s his fault. He believes no woman would want to stay with him. So why would Dina?
Wilck has crafted a story with realistic characters with fears we can all relate to. I loved Dina from the start. She was the smart girl in high school who was often overlooked, that is when the prettier girls were mean to her.
Just like Dina, I was wary of Adam at first. But Dina brought out his true self. I grew to love him right along with her. Wilck has given them both unique, quirky characteristics. And wrapped them in complex emotions that gave their personalities true depth.
The author has once again given us a peek at what a happily ever after looks like in the twenty-first century. It’s realistic and romantic all at once. I know I fell in love with this couple. The Perfect Deception is the perfect read to renew your faith in love overcoming all odds.
A Perfect Deception by Jennifer Wilck is the third book in The Perfect Match series. The books can absolutely be read as stand alones. In The Perfect Deception, Dina and Adam meet by chance when he helps her after she gets a flat tire. Dina is an extremely intelligent librarian who is on the curvy side with frizzy hair. She’s nervous about her upcoming high school reunion. Adam is perfectly put together- on the outside - on the inside he’s not as secure as his vain persona would seem and his professional life is falling apart as he works at his father’s firm. They get to know each other after a few dates and decide to help each other out with Adam posing as Dina‘s date for her reunion and Dina posing his Adam’s girlfriend so that he seems more stable in the eyes of his father. There is drama within Adam’s firm which spills over into Dina and Adam’s relationship. If you enjoy an opposites attract story you’ll definitely enjoy this book! Watching Adam’s character development throughout the book was one of the best parts. The characters, as well as the setting and the story are realistic and absolutely draw you in. Of course there’s a HEA after some soul searching from both Dina and Adam! I also love that book set in suburban New Jersey with Jewish characters, it’s nice to see representation in the romance world!
The story about Dina and Adam is a good one. Adam needs Dina to help his reputation and Dina needs Adam to go to her high school reunion. Their fake dating is fun to read about throughout the story. The Jewish aspect made it truly enjoyable. I love Jennifer Wilck's books and look forward to reading many more of them.
This opposites-attract fake romance romcom is a delight. When a shallow put together lawyer meets a curvy librarian an unlikely friendship begins. He needs to change his image, and she needs a date for her high school reunion. Wilck has penned a fun romp full of insecurity, unspoken feelings and massive misunderstandings. The characters are well written and practically jump off the page. I wish that Dina was real, she would make such a great friend. You can't help but adore these people. It is so much fun watching their relationship evolve. Is there relationship fooling anyone? Or are they just deceiving themselves?
This book is marketed as the third book of the Perfect Match series, which is a collection of stand alone books. They all have one thing in common: a strong sassy female protagonist. I can't wait to read more books by this author. Like many of the authors books, the characters are Jewish. But the stories are universal and can be loved by all.
