Shadowlocked
A dark psychological thriller from the author of the AUTUMN and HATER novels (optioned for film by Guillermo del Toro).
Heading home late after a night out, Adam and Lucy Logan are involved in a horrific road rage incident. Their car is forced off a bridge and ends up at the bottom of a swollen, fast-flowing river. Adam survives but Lucy drowns, trapped inside the sinking wreck.
When he's released from hospital, Adam vows to hunt down the driver responsible for his wife's death and take revenge. But according to the police the roads around the bridge were empty. There was no other car.
His world is turned upside down again when Lucy returns from the an impossible shadow of her former self.
Adam's feelings for Lucy overtake his fear, and together they realise their only option is to find out what really happened on the bridge that tragic night. Until then, Lucy remains trapped on the fringes of reality between life and death. She's shadowlocked.
But the deeper Adam digs, the more he begins to realise there was much of Lucy's life - and subsequently her death - that he knew nothing about.

Moody's seminal zombie novel Autumn was made into a movie starring Dexter Fletcher and David Carradine. He has an unhealthy fascination with the end of the world and likes to write books about ordinary folks going through absolute hell. With the publication of continuing Hater and Autumn stories, Moody has cemented his reputation as a writer of suspense-laced SF/horror, and "farther out" genre books of all description.

Not horror.
Too much melodrama for me. If you like family drama with a slice of the paranormal, then you might enjoy this. It's completely foreign to me, though. I don't understand why the people in the book are acting in the way they are. meh. I'll stick to Zombies.

Completely different approach for David Moody and a very welcome one.
What a complete emotional rollercoaster. Really looking forward to what Dave does next.
I listened to the audiobook on audible and the narration was superb.
Definitely one to get stuck into this summer!

David Moody delivers with another thought provoking story that keeps you guessing about the characters motives and who we should be believing! A twist on the stories that made him popular, but so intriguing the pages keep turning. A guy check to anyone who realizes they have self centered tendencies and reminder to get your head out of your rear end and listen to those around you!

Mr Moody steps away from the Zombie genre to deliver a truly good phycological thriller with a devious mystery at it's heart.
Who do you believe which side will you be on Lucy or Adams.
As we unpick the story the author starts to tell a mystery that keeps you engaged throughout asking you to question Adam's sanity and that keeps the book grounded.
It's a slow burn as Adam becomes more and more unhinged to his family and friends in his search for the truth.
Mr Moody has delivered a great read and proves he is more than a one trick pony moving away from the genre that he his famous for with one of the best thrillers I've read in a long time.
It keeps you guessing right up to the climatic end.
Great book bravo Mr Moody.

A twisting, turning, leave you guessing mystery that speeds you through the psychological trauma of loss, regret, and deep abiding guilt. It left me guessing, wanting more, and sleepless for a few nights as I worked my way through this tale of one man trying to find the answers he may not actually want. David has written a story that is both a wake-up call and a warning. Don't mess with the dead. Of any kind. Well done, to one of my favorite authors!

This is a real life story.

Fantastic plot
Having been a fan of the Autumn and Hater series by the author I was intrigued at the change in genre style for this new offering. I had high hopes, I had doubts too I won’t lie, as to if this would live up to previous offerings. Thankfully David Moody definitely lived up to the high hopes. A great ghost story, almost detective story at times too, that gripped me right from the start. The book explores the characters well and takes you on a journey where you’ll have sympathy for, dislike and like them writhing almost the same page.
Highly recommend this read for any horror or thriller lovers, you won’t be disappointed.

💫David Moody's 'Shadowlocked' is a sensational journey that grips you from the very first page and doesn't let go until the 'great reveal'. I found myself so engrossed in the story that I nearly finished it in one sitting.
The novel plunges you directly into the heart of the action - the horrifying car accident that claims the life of Lucy Logan in a 'dark stormy night'. Her husband Adam Logan miraculously survives after being pulled out of the river. As Adam faces and deals with the devastating loss of his wife, you are right there with him, feeling his confusion and pain, as he struggles to reconcile his fragmented memories of someone chasing them and causing the crash with the version of events presented by the police.
The author masterfully builds suspense as Adam embarks on a desperate search for truth and closure. Unexpectedly, Lucy seemingly comes back from the dead - silent, ethereal, expressionless - unable to provide the answers Adam desperately seeks.
It's a very engaging story with a slow burn plot twist that creeps up on you and makes you gasp in the end - a psychological thriller combined with elements of supernatural horror.💫

Finally got some time to read the latest novel by one of my favorite authors David Moody's Shadowlocked and it was a great read. A few twists, and character developments kept me hooked right to the end, and what a satisfying ending it was. It played like a movie in my mind, could definitely see this one in film form. The main character keeps you guessing until the very last chapters. As always, another David Moody triumph. Thanks for writing great horror stories!

Being a huge fan of all of David's work, I had to have this novel & also secured additional copies for my children & friends. Although this is a different genre to Davids previous Epic Dystopian journeys, it certainly does not disappoint and is a story that keeps you on the edge of your seat, until the end 🙏 In summary I loved it & recommend to anyone wanting an immersive & engrossing read 📕

Great read from beginning to end. The plot was just a little bit different. It was not the usual psychological, suspense thriller. Definitely a book I would recommend.

Mr. Moody has delivered another masterpiece for his readers! Outstanding character development and pulse-pounding action from start to finish. I listened to the novel on Audible and the narration from Aubrey Parsons was absolutely outstanding!
