After he died, I never expected to fall in love again. Travis entered my life and I never expected to grow this close to him. I shouldn’t want to be with him and I find secrets that should make me find him repulsive, but what if I don't? What if I actually like all the sick, vile things about him?

Emery Croft is known for her dark and taboo romance novellas. “Sinister Seduction” is a husband’s best friend trope. No, they are not bl••d-related. Did I hear a dramatic sigh of disappointment––not to worry. I was pleasantly surprised at how well Emery Croft was able to deliver as I started reading Sinister Seduction,” which captured my attention as Emma grieved for her police officer husband, who tragically died. When her husband’s best friend, Travis, and fellow officer steps in to console her, he also shares that he has been pining for her for a long time. Sweet right? But it’s an Emery Croft story. Darkness ensued, and I was all in.

The plot was well-developed for 91 pages. Travis’ character is every bit of what I would expect from Emery, as were the smex scenes between him and Emma. “Sinister Seduction” is well worth the read.

Thank you, Emery Croft, for the gifted copy of “Sinister Seduction.” I am leaving this review voluntarily.

I am loving Emery’s taboo books and this one is my favorite so far!! ***Please check TWs before diving in***

Emma is a young(ish) woman whose husband was killed in the line duty. Her strength prevailed over the pages as the story progressed and I went from grieving to cheering for her.

Travis is Emma’s husband’s best friend. A protective man just looking after his dead best friend’s wife…a shoulder to lean on and source of comfort. But he has been holding onto a few secrets and soon Emma learns everything.

This was a fast paced, spicy and dark(ish) taboo read that I was able to devour during my afternoon run. I loved it - the pining, the secrets revealed, the panty melting scenes and the HEA was everything I could ask for in a quick read and Emery delivered all that plus some. It’s definitely one I can easily see myself going back and revisiting.
