What are Protestants missing when it comes to the subject of saints? Why do other streams of the Christian faith place these people in such high regard―but we Protestants know so little of them?
Saints for Protestants is a four-volume series introducing the reader to 366 saints from the beginning ofChristianity down to some of the more recently designated saints, such as Mother Teresa of India. Each volumeis designed to be utilized as devotional readings based on one saint per day over three months. At the end ofthe year the reader will have been inspired and challenged by these people who have largely been ignored byProtestants for centuries.Volume 1 begins with some of the most famous biblical era saints of the Orthodox Church and ends with the saints referred to as the “Desert Fathers and Mothers.”Volume 2 focuses on the Eastern saints, from those who are referred to as “patriarchs” down to those of the present.Volume 3 begins with the saints called “apostles” in the Western church and concludes withthose of the late Middle Ages.Volume 4 continues tracing the saints of the Western church from the 16th century down to some of the most recent saints of the West.At the end of each volume are twelve appendices delving more deeply into the vocabulary used and into some ofthe special categories of saints. Appendices, maps, reading lists, and other sources are available to assistreaders to continue learning more about these people who were nothing short of world-changers in theirparticular times and spaces.
