Unleash the monsters. Save the world.

Together, Hale and Kez have survived the worst Kuseros could throw at them. They've taken control of the Tyng empire. Under their leadership, they've turned the company away the sale of Hex and cleaned up Kuseros' streets.

But not everyone is happy with Kuseros' rosy future. When an old enemy resurfaces, Hale and Kez will have to unleash the darkness that won them the day against Tyng. Can they stop the spread of Hex to the entire sector? Or will a betrayal from within destroy the family they've created?

Publisher's Note: this book contains strong themes and is intended for mature readers only. It is the second book in the series. Readers are strongly advised to read Snowburn first.

I’m EJ and I’m on a mission to set your imagination (and other things) on fire.

Let’s face it, reality is … not great right now. In my stories, love conquers all, my heroes always save the day, and consent is super-sexy. My characters aren’t just names on the page. They’re the friends you wish you had, the lovers you dream about, and the villains you love to hate.

I’m a literary chameleon. One day I’m crafting suspenseful mysteries that will keep you turning pages all night. The next, I’m whisking you away to otherworldly realms where magic is real and every girl gets her dragon. No matter where the story takes us, a happy ending, and a healthy dose of steam, is always guaranteed.

If you’ve made it this far, you’re my kind of reader. Want an all-access pass to my chaotic worlds? Join me on Patreon. You’ll get exclusive stories, character deep-dives, monthly lives with me, and maybe, just maybe a say in whose story gets written next!

Life’s too short to read boring books. Let’s make it steamy, shall we?

When Throwing Fire landed in my inbox,i immediately snatched it up and devoured it.
Once i started reading, like with Snowburn,i couldn’t stop until i arrived at the last page.
And once i was there,i found that though i was véry happy with where Hale and Kez were,i’m not really done with this world…..
In fact,i would love to hear more….a lot more!
It would be so wonderful if Hale had a brother,or a cousin,to go on an adventure,or something like that….

With their enemy gone,Hale and Kez find themselves running his empire.
And they intend to make sure this empire heads into a different, better, direction.
But not everyone is happy with what they’re doing….and it turns out Kez has a prize on her head!
Since all that Hale cares about is Kez’s health and happiness,he immediately starts hunting the ones responsible.
But they seem to be hard to catch….and closer by than he thought.
Hale and Kez do make new friends along the way,and they are a great help.
People they didn’t know they could trust, turn out to be on their side, too.
But Hale is determined to keep his kitten by his side until the threat is gone, because there are still people closeby that they can’t….
Who ís responsible for everything?? Why?? And will they succeed?? Not with Hale on the case….right??

This was a rollercoaster ride that gave me all the feels.
Love, delicious moments between the sheets, laughter and action, spread throughout in equal proportions, gave me the perfect reading experience.
Proving yet again why i love EJ Frost’s stories so much.
(P.S. no bunnies were harmed in this series)

The couple: Snow (Hale) and Kez (Kezra)

Romance trope: sci-fi
Series: The Deep Frontier Cycle
Length: 408 pages

Plot: Snow and Kez are settling into their new roles of running the Tyng Corporation (or helping to run it, although let's be honest, Baby Tyng isn't quite there yet). But Snow finds that there is a bounty on Kez's head and several possibilities for the origin of that order. Amidst all the fighting, running, and scheming, one thing holds true: nobody touches his Kitten and gets away with it.

Commentary: I love the way these two love each other! I do always bristle, though, when he notices an attractive woman (I'm not as bad as Kez, but still...). I about came out of my seat when he first met Grace, but he quickly redeemed himself with the internal reminder that Kez is the only one for him. I would love an outtake for how that whole triangle (Acker/ Grace/Tiacha) happened - Acker is lucky in more than one way that it worked out the way it did.
Snow also cracks me up with his "little monster" talk. Such a guy thing! Needing an ointment for chapping? What a problem! He's a practical guy, though, and I actually appreciate hearing his thoughts on what's happening with him and Kez (even if I don't like reminiscing about Mouse as much as he does).
And I adored all the bunny info. That was just one more way Kez had created her own family after hers was lost/broken/disappointing. Also, I imagine it fulfilled that need in her to take care of others, but without the danger of betrayal. It was cool, though, that Snow had also accepted the bunnies as part of his family with Kez.

Lots of betrayal but also plenty of reassurance and love. This was a perfect sequel!

ETA: I love that the cover is almost exactly like Snowburn, just with Kez instead of Snow - beautiful!

Previous book in the series: Snowburn
Next book in the series: The Lure of Space

Hey, EJ?

Just so you know, I really wouldn't object to a bonus scene at some point, where Kez and Mister Snow finally get their vacation... 🙏😉

This story has some triggers that might upset certain readers. Chiefly violence, torture and SA I think, so be warned this story is Dark to some degree. The story is fairly Dark, but so is the first book “Snowburn” though and you absolutely need to read “Snowburn” first in order to be able to properly follow the story in “Throwing Fire”

I read the first book “Snowburn a few years ago and I knew I had to reread it before reading “Throwing Fire” and I am glad I did. There is a lot of story content in Throwing Fire that I just wouldn’t have been able to follow very well if I hadn’t. I really enjoyed the book, because I really love Science Fiction and Romance. There is definitely Romance in this story along with the Science Fiction too, I would describe it as fairly smutty with several really fine scenes and a bit of butt stuff.

A set of random thoughts as I was reading:

The Characters of Hale and Kez fit together really well and their interaction is always very believable in the context of the story.

I loved the description of Hale’s clothes that were made by Kez.

In another scene Hale is talking to himself about how his little monster is chafed, ehh I can relate, lube is good for guys too. Lol Endurance is not just about being able to get hard it about the degree of chafing.

Hale gets a gift of cigars from Acker the Rat Guy and he really loved them, I can relate as I love Cigars. I can’t have any though or I will start smoking again, even though I quit about 20 years ago.

I don’t pay all that much attention to covers, but this cover for Throwing Fire, fits with the cover for Snow Burn really well. It has the same theme and style.

My conclusion: if you like Science Fiction Romance that is somewhat Dark then you will love this story. It has a tight storyline and I think the ending satisfies. The main Characters Hale and Kez are great and I also liked the secondary characters as well.

I’ll be honest—Throwing Fire by E.J. Frost absolutely wrecked me in the best way. From my point of view, this book takes everything I loved about The Deep Frontier Cycle—the grit, the danger, the dark chemistry—and dials it all the way up. Hale and Kez aren’t just fighting for survival anymore; they’re fighting for the empire they built together, and it is intense.
Their love story isn’t soft—it’s raw, defiant, and full of fire. I love how Frost writes them like twin stars caught in each other’s gravity—always on the edge of destruction, but unable to pull apart. Every moment between them feels charged, whether it’s a battle for control or a desperate choice between love and duty.
And the worldbuilding? Still as sharp and cinematic as ever. Kuseros isn’t just a backdrop—it’s a living, breathing place full of danger, rebellion, and impossible choices. The stakes feel higher than ever, and the emotional payoff is worth every gut punch along the way.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ — Throwing Fire is fierce, passionate, and unapologetically powerful. It’s about two people who refuse to be broken—by each other, by the world, or by fate. If you love dark sci-fi romance with unstoppable characters and love that burns hotter than a supernova, this one’s an instant must-read.
