A Mystical Island. A Snarky Familiar. A Hot Sheriff. And a fun, witchy mystery in every book.
When Senna Marsh inherits a newspaper on Fade Island from a complete stranger, she's got questions. Could this be the answer to her witchy origins? Also, who ever said no to a tropical vacation?
When she arrives on Fade Island, however, things are not all as sunny as they first appear. Her only reporter thinks surfing is included in his job description, the sheriff has pegged her as his number one suspect in the murder of her mysterious benefactor and she's inherited a snarky familiar with bad habits.
Oh, and there's a body in the woods and a poisoner on the loose and a local coven of witches who may or may not have murdered one of their own.
Between snooping for headlines, sniffing around the mystery of her inheritance and tangling with the sheriff, her hands are packed fuller than the bulging suitcase she brought to her island getaway.
If you like tropical islands (who doesn't?), witches, vampires, paranormal mysteries and slow burn romance, dive right into the first book now!
This is a collection of the completed series and includes all titles in the Fade Island Mad Hats & Trouble Wonky Spells & SeaShells Mage Storms & Murder Magic Blues & Rockers Deadly Claws & Mayhem
A random is left a newspaper on an island they have never heard of. Throw in a few mysteries, as if the first one wasn't enough. Sorry after reading all these books there are questions that have not been answered. Realistically its a love story on speed.
I've only read 2 of the stories so far, if I ever read the rest and change my opinion then I'll revisit this review if necessary. Senna's attitude to the hot sheriff is downright snotty for way too long (with no good reason ever given for it). Angie's behaviour towards Belle is tiresome, without any background. Brad's needlessly angry when Senna is actually trying to save his job, so his hostility is senseless. Ebren/Puddles is a cat on Ritalin, annoying, friendly, secretive, spilling his guts - and the whole familiar thing felt a little been there done that.
And then there are the plots - the set up is fine, the investigation (middle) is reasonably well done, but boy, does this author need to work on their endings. The first book ends so abruptly, you feel like the rug is pulled out from under you. The second book, was weirder still, Senna has the answer, and a page and a half later the murder is solved and wrapped up, and fade to grey as sheriff sweeps her off to the bedroom (eye roll, don't include a romance if youre not prepared to give us a few details)
The witchy stuff feels very added on, and clunky, and senna's personal magic is hardly referenced in book 1 and then she's acting like a clumsy klutz in book 2 so the author can jump over a lot of explanations and just have clues suddenly appear out of thin air - felt lazy.
Cosy, but fails to really draw you in and connect you with the characters.
This was a great series all rolled up to one book! Good stories with interesting characters and some great mysteries. I’m going to check out this author’s other books.

Quite a few twists as it relates to Senna and Gabriel.
When she is notified about an inheritance and travels to Fade Island, journalist Senna never expected to own her own newspaper, make a few friends, and end up having to solve a handful of murders. Starting with Jeremiah, the man who left her all of his assets upon his death. A man she doesn't know but for whom the sheriff is wondering if she had a hand in his death. With the help of her new familiar, the magic she slowly embraces and Gabriel at her side, she'll also learn who she is and why she ended up on the island.
Well, I've read all 800 and some. I've paid you to the Faye island it's a nice story, a good story, interesting twist in the last book where she finally finds out where her magic comes from very predictable sacrifices at the d***, very good book, all in all, you'll enjoy it, even though the plot aren't that intriguing here and there. That's a good story.
Being a reporter for the local paper is her job, but when she inherited a local paper in a paranormal town from a man she never met she goes to the new town to check it out settle up everything and return to her old. Trouble is she starts falling for the Sheriff of this new town and getting more and more invested in the running of the paper. Then she finds a body and things really get interesting. Good Read.
A wonderfully written series. Lots of love and laughter, mystery, murder and mayhem. Headstrong and unafraid with a strong sense of helping others and doing the right thing. Fascinating adventures and various kind of dangers , characters perfectly detailed. You just want to carry on reading this immersive story. Perfect for anyone loving adventure, a sarcastic familiar and a happy ending. Incredible.
These stories were enjoyable. Light reading, quick, good characters. I would strongly suggest that writers who are not American, do some research and hire a good American proof reader. It is extremely annoying when the vernacular used is in this case I would guess British. We do not say sackable, we say fireable, for instance. I could tell this book, though set in Florida, was not written by an American about two (2) chapters in. This is a pet peeve of mine.
There are several reasons for my five star rating. Most of them would be spoilers though, so you will have to read the books to know what keeps Claire Robyns' books on my " to read " shelf!
There is this, though. Recently I have been plagued by poor editing resulting in horrible grammar errors that destroy the flow and my enjoyment of the book. I won't say there are no errors, but the quality is loads better!
Really enjoyed this series - how could you not love being on a tropical island However discovering she is a witch and having romantic feeings for Gabriel - they have various murders and mayhem in the close knot community. Turns out Gabriel is a vampire and witches and vampires cannot be together! The author weaves great adventures for these two and fortunately it all ends well! Fade Island is a great series.
If you want something light, well written and fun, with hints of Romance but nothing too steamy, this is for you.
I read the complete series in about two or three days. It felt a bit like the BBC series death in paradise. Only with more magic. And the main character isn't a police officer. Just the main side character.
As witch books and cozy murders go, these are particularly fun. Thoroughly recommend.
Delightful mysteries, a deadly curse, sweet romance, even a fae knight on a black stallion come together in this delightful box set. I really enjoyed these stories. A reluctant vampire, a snarky cat familiar, and a circus run with werewolves all meet on Fade Island to experience its secrets.x
A young witch inherits a newspaper on Fade Island and goes there to claim her inheritance. She also gets a familiar that is a cat. She meets a yummy sheriff and helps him on cases. They have a lot of interesting adventures of the supernatural variety. Excellent entertaining series.
Senna and Gabriel are really cool characters. Loved reading about Senna’s adventures brought about by circumstances that no one would believe. From the first book until the last I was interested in all the different takes on paranormal differences. Very fun and relaxing reading.
What wonderful stories. From the first story in the first book to the last story in the last book the character proved to be carrying and respectful. Each story had it on set of characters to tell that part of the story. For one story to next the love between the two main characters had it's ups and downs but in the end it all worked out.
Couldn’t put the books down. Interesting the next take off. Fae, witch, vampire, wolves who knows what else! Each charted different interpretations that other writers. Great series
Fade Island Witch Mysteries Complete Series by Claire Robyn’s. Fade Island follows Senna, a witch and Gabriel, a vampire, as they meet and fall in love meanwhile solving several murders. I would recommend this author and this book.
I liked the characters and I enjoyed the story. The story did bring together the mystery surrounding the main character. What I didn’t like was the ending. It just kinda drops you at the end. The ending left me feeling it was incomplete.
If you’re seeking a fun, quirky mystery then check this out. This was a fun series to read. I didn't want it to end. The series is delightful, blending mystery with humor, angst and heartwarming moments.
Paranormal mysteries with lots of humor, romance, and an adorable acerbic kitty! Lots of action and will they/won’t they? Great fun beach read-pure escape!
Claire Robyns has written great characters with a a unusual bent for activity and interesting storyline. You’ll love the twists and turns that each story takes and the entire series is a great way to spend a few evenings.
Some great characters with a bunch of unnecessary drama. Just good old fashioned murder and mystery! The island is a great setting to let the series play out.
