About the author

Kim Krenik

4 books175 followers
Kim found her interest in writing at the young age of nine, when she penned her first stories on three-holed, blue-lined paper. Those handwritten pages, telling of the fictional kingdom called "Anasteria," have been long-lost and forgotten, but the seed was planted and would germinate for some time.

As a teenager, Kim wrote songs, and became involved in the world of music and acting. Later, she dabbled in scripts and directing plays.

In 2015 she self-published Fire Lilies - Out of the Ashes, a non-fiction Christian devotional and bible study for women.

She also writes fiction under the name K.M. Krenik and is the author of The Ranfurly Mysteries, a romantic mystery series set in a dystopian world where dragons exist.

Kim has a blog and a podcast called Creative Cliff Jumpers, where she interviews creatives of all types about how they overcome their fears and take risks to achieve their dreams.

When she isn't writing, Kim is spending time with her husband, Rob, and her four children. They live in the PNW where they enjoy drinking world-class coffee, hugging trees, looking for fairies, and riding dragons.

I loved the enemies to lovers basis and how it's used for something other than heterosexual narratives.i found it eye opening in so far as remembering just how awful my coming of age was with now the knowledge of the intersectionality of also having to add the stigma of being queer males to the mix. A truly beautiful story that was incredibly well done.

Loved it. Lots of mystery building here...
Lord Robert - what is not to like about a handsome, reclusive lord who is available. And his flashbacks make you want to learn what the heck happened. And if a dramatic actress pays attention, who knows what can happen. Meanwhile innocent Courtney is building a plot of her own...

This was a personal read for me. It seems I chose right for having K.M. Krenik as a go to author for my personal reading. She did it again, she kept me captivated and lost in another world with this one. This is a prequel in the Ranfurly Mysteries series. It's got the answers to numerous questions from book one "Danger Lies Within". You need to read Danger lies within as soon as you get done reading this one. There is still plenty of mysteries in Courtney and Lord Robert's lives. This book has lots of everything in it as well. The book is very well written, you can tell the author loves to write and be creative as well she also loves her characters. Just as it should be. Please help this new author become very popular and share this book with people. 5 stars doesn't do it justice, it goes way past that. I highly suggest you read this authors books.

A confusing beginning, but don't give up...

"Wishing only wounds the heart." I love finding nuggets or truisms in my readings. This is one.
This a prequel to the Ranfurly Mysteries. It was difficult to follow what was happening... I wish there had been a map because "zones" were mentioned and names to the point I just ignored them. Finally figured out there were two stories that danced from the present to the past and back again. The author is building for a last-minute explosion filled with surprises as the two protagonists are set in motion with more questions than answers. So am I reading the next book? Curiosity demands that I do. I need to know what happened. It's a curse I have to live with!.

Confusing

I sometimes enjoyed reading this book. Not really sure why it is 200 years in the future. There is little narrative except the different political regions, and one mention of hover cars that give it a difference from today. The different characters chapters, and skipping back and forth from present to future to past without connections between the characters was also unsettling. I may read on in the series just to see if the author has a purpose for the unusual structure of this novella. I hope he does, there are some interesting characters that I would love to see develop into a readable novel, and to make an enjoyably readable series.

unique and interesting

Normally I dislike cliffhangers but as I knew this was an introduction to a series and knew the cliffhanger was coming it wasn’t so bad. 😊
There is a touch of fantasy in a strange sea sighting that I would have loved to learn more about maybe it will reappear in book 2.
We have a murder, a kidnapping, a Twilight Zone element, passion, and love all mixed together with a bit of time jumping.
Definitely unique and interesting and I’m looking forward to the next book to find out what happens.

This was a great prequel in this world, I was engaged with what was going on and thought the overall story had that feel that I hoping for. K.M. Krenik wrote this in a way that was engaging and enjoyable.

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
