Sixteen-year-old Sam Keller has lived in foster homes and group homes most of his life and has long ago given up on the dream of a stable, forever family. Adults have always let him down, and so has God, and he has no use for either.

John and Abbie Grayson are a respected, successful couple in their fifties with two grown children. They live in their dream home in Franklin, TN, an idyllic suburb of Nashville, where John is a successful college basketball coach, and Abbie works part-time at their local church. But Abbie feels something is missing from her life and convinces John they should become foster parents.

Their worlds collide when Sam is placed in the Grayson home for a few days. Days turn into months, and Sam thrives with the Graysons and allows himself to dream of a forever family, while John and Abbie realize the teen has found his way into their hearts.

As the Graysons begin to investigate the possibility of adopting Sam, an evil agenda emerges, and a secret past is revealed. Nothing short of a miracle can save Sam from a harrowing ordeal and keep the Grayson family together.

This well-thought-out debut novel is realistic, heart-grabbing, and satisfying. I'm glad Banet has written a sequel. We need more books like this.

Heartwarming and encouraging!

Kimberly Banet's first book, Just Another Home, pulled me in from the start. Sam's life and trauma and his foster family's love and faith brought everything full circle. Amazing look into the life of a foster child and foster parent. I can't wait for the next book in the series!

This story will change you forever

Wow, even as a foster-to-adoption parent of two children, this book spoke to me. I’ve always been aware of the plight of so many children, but this has spurred me on to new ideas of how we can make a difference in children’s lives and the importance of never stopping in advocating for all children in the foster care system. God works miracles.

I think everyone wants a home, a place to belong. And to offer your home to a foster child or adopted child is a wonderful thing. But it's not simple, or easy, and it's not always pleasant. That's what Abbie and John Grayson discover when they take in Sam, a temporary, teen placement. Sam longs for a family, and he finds shelter in the Grayson's home. But they have to deal with Sam's past, the Grayson's own children, and the laws covering foster care meant to protect children the system. The story is heart-touching and keeps you reading to see whether Sam finds a forever home.

More scenes showing actual interaction and dialogue between characters instead of just telling what happened would have added interest and allowed the reader to know the characters on a deeper level.

A heartfelt and uplifting story of resilience. Some stories linger long after the last page and this is one such tale, delving into the world of Sam, a teenager navigating the complexities of life in foster care.

Sam’s voice is raw and authentic. I felt every pang of uncertainty, the quiet longing for a place to belong, and the flicker of hope that refuses to be extinguished.

The author skillfully balances moments of tenderness with Sam’s inner strength, making this more than simply a story of hardship. It’s a testament to the human spirit, the faithfulness and loyalty of love, and is a reminder that even in the most difficult circumstances, hope and resilience can bloom.

A beautiful story that tugs at your heart as you see and read about the lives throughout this book. We see the hardships, the struggles, the challenges, yet we see something beautiful at work throughout this story. Just an incredible journey and wonderfully written tail of God putting together broken pieces and bringing healing and redemption.

A beautifully written story of how taking in a foster child who is a teenager affects everyone in the family.
Once you start reading this book, you will not be able to put it down! The story has a lot of twists and turns I did not see coming......
The book also brings to light the very troubled foster care system the United States.

A realistic view of the foster care system, Just Another Home draws the reader into the desire of the Graysons to be foster parents and the difficulty that Jamie, the social worker, has finding a foster home for Sam, a teenager who has been in one foster home after another. Author Kimberly Banet creates tension by revealing early on the plans Sam's biological father has for his unwanted son to make money for him. Meanwhile Sam feels safe and happy in the Graysons' home. Sam has many setbacks to overcome, and the Graysons, even their grown children, bond with Sam and support him. The ending is extremely satisfying. I LOVED this book and highly recommend it!

This gut-wrenching story portrays the life of a foster child, though Sam is 16-18 at the time, and his quest to find a forever home. My heart hurt for Sam, and for John and Abbie, his foster parents, as they navigated their way through a traumatic fostering experience. The way the author wove the tragic circumstances surrounding Sam's life and God's intervention is truly inspirational. Through a myriad of ups and downs, this story landed on a hopeful note, while staying realistic about the challenges of the foster-care system.

This self published, contemporary Christian novel presented a “BlindSide” like story with biblical themes. The story itself was easy to read. The length was appropriate. The editing was of higher caliber than most self published works. Lovers of Christian fiction will enjoy this novel.
