This was such an intriguing read, and then it lost me. I'll probably need to read this again, because honestly I'm confused about some significant plot elements. Luckily, the glossary at the end helped clarify some of it, but even still. It's definitely a unique read for me, even though I hear it has a lot of similarities with an anime I have not seen (Sword Art Online). Depending on whether or not you are familiar with some of these tropes, your experience may vary.

I really like this story so far. It gives me a lot of the same vibes as Sword Art Online. But this seems like it’s been fleshed out a lot more, and the creator has a lot of big plans in the making.

It’ll be interesting to see if Jaehwan gets his memories back and will eventually beat ‘the game.’

This was a great action packed story, it is like they are in a video game. One person makes it to the end of the game and things seem to take an even more interesting turn. The art is amazing and the overall story is amazing and I can't wait to read the rest!.

The graphics are amazing, but the story itself happened too fast. It felt like there were crucial points missing that would have developed the story beautifully. It reminded me of Solo Leveling, Sword Art Online, and The Tower of God but didn't quite deliver. The story was missing the build up so the reader would be rooting for him to succeed. Don't get me wrong, you still want him to, but you're honestly not as invested as you could be. And that had me a bit disappointed.

It's going to fast but I still like it a lot, I bought it because it remembered me "solo leveling" and the world is actually really similar they also share terms.
Would have liked more explanation at the start, like what happened to the other humans or to the world in general, okay is messed up and a lot of humans died but your telling me that's all? some more pages of the topic wouldn't hurt.

"I never imagined your species would be so obsessed with going back to the past... only humans could be so foolish".
Really liked that character, what a shame he died (even if he was kind of an asshole)

“They vowed to save the present rather than the past”

"I was already inside the dream created by the tower"

I'm eager to continue the series, and apparently it isn't that long, 7 books and considering is a manhwa it will go even faster so maybe that's why is going so fast but honestly I think the next couple of books will go slower, and hopefully I'll get my questions answered.

3.5, and just slightly torn with this one.

While there's a lot of confusing action and battles, and the story takes a while to really take shape, it gets better at the end, as some things start to get a little bit clearer.

Still, it feels a bit too young for my taste, and, mind you, it's not really what you'd think based on the cover blurb and the beginning, and there's a bit too many different ideas and concepts involved in its design.

So, while it has potential, I'm not sure it will end up being my cup of tea... therefore, I might go ahead and read the next volume to make up my mind, but it's not like I'm super excited about it...

(This review turned out to be as confused as this whole manhwa is...).

It’s action packed from the beginning but I feel like a lot of things are explained through out the book instead of giving a beginning. We are thrown into what seems like an apocalyptic world and the struggle of the main character to save it. Then we find out it’s all fake? Maybe I need the next volume to see if it’s better.

Some of the concepts, terms, what stakes the characters face are thrown at the reader and then explained later which, does get confusing? But if you can roll with that kind of storytelling, its super enjoyable! I'm looking out for the next volume when it comes..

This story first intrigued me on Webtoons and I was excited to see it being physically published. You first think this is a story about the fall of humanity but soon you learn that nothing is what it seems (which appears to be the main continuous twist of the story). Jaehwan is an intriguing young man that I do wish we were getting more info on his past before the towers. This volume does a great job with grabbing you as there is a lot of action and tension almost straight out of the gate. I do hope that we learn more about Jaehwan and what drives him (we kinda get a peek this volume but I'd like more) as well as the universe we are being introduced to.

This was a fast read & was absolutely gorgeous to look at. I was excited about the premise, the cover, and the artwork & they did not disappoint! However, I found myself confused about the plot events & twists. They didn’t seem to match the advertised premise of the series and they seemed to come out of nowhere. I did enjoy the main character and I appreciated the humor.

I dont like to have stories/webtoons sitting on my CR shelf for the rest of eternity. So i’m marking it.
Definitely gonna keep reading it.

Interesting enough even though it’s only starting out but i have faith in it and will definitely keep reading.

In video games, the first procedurally-generated game (Rogue) became the namesake for similar such games that came after it (roguelikes).

There's an amount that I want to brand this sort of story a ToG-like (ESPECIALLY if it's ALSO Korean).

This starts out somewhat the same, with there being a tower that people are compelled to climb, though this tower is presented as less voluntary than the one in Tower of God. Probably the thing that makes it more interesting is ! There's more to it, of course, and that feels like a bit of the "power creep" problem that a friend mentioned is the name of the issue I have with where ToG ended up going after "Season 2" and is more popularly known as a regular occurrence in Dragon Ball Z.

Book 1 is fine, at least. It's interesting and curiously high-quality. I have mixed feelings about that, given that I'd seen rumours about the studio involved having had one of their artists DIE from overwork, but I can't find the source of that now. I'd feel worse if I could find it—as is, it feels like something unsettling I dreamed about once. I'll likely change this review if I find the source again, though.

Recommended for fans of Tower of God and/or Solo Leveling, since it feels a lot like a mix of both. Also, for anyone (like me) who finds the web comic version HARDER to read (infinite scrolling is AWFUL).

Story 3,0/5
Emotionen 2,0/5
Charktere 4,0/5
Unterhaltung 3,4/5
Zeichenstil 4,0/5
Gesamt 3,4/5

Humanity comes under a sudden siege!

Towers of immense size appear all around the world and monsters descend from them. Humans are asked to become climbers, to fight and ascend.

Jaehwan heeds the call.

If he doesn’t fight, humanity won’t have a chance. But, the towers are brutal. Reaching the 100th level is impossible for most. Many die, many more choose to use regression stones and return to the past.

Jaehwan fights onward and upward, never surrendering. He will climb to the top.

But, as he finds himself reaching heights no other human has before, Jaehwan begins to question the nature of these towers and of this quest.

Is everything what it seems?

So, this is your typical isekai manhwa?

Honestly, I’m not quite sure what distinguishes this one from any other series of its kind. The blueprint is the same: We’ve got a lone wolf male protagonist with a single-focused objective, some cool monsters, some cool powers, a world operating by video game rules, and few other characters of any depth.

If anything, I found this one to be somewhat less interesting than Solo Leveling—which, at least is making an attempt to create interesting secondary characters.

I try not to be too hard on isekai but I just don’t see the appeal of stories like these—personally.

There’s nothing wrong with this series, per se. It’s very well illustrated and the match-ups between the main characters and others are as intense and delightful as any you could find in similar series.

I just don’t think this genre is my cup of tea~

This was an interesting start of a series. The whole plot is more or less in the blurb. Huge towers appear around the globe and monsters spill out. People called Tower Walkers enter the tower and must fight their way, gaming style, to the top in the belief if they can reach the 100th floor, they'll get answers and stop this invasion.

Jaehwan is one of those Tower Walkers, going into battle with great hopes and no doubt a load of PTSD by the end. This is an adaptation of a novel and it's done in color. The palette is muted and appropriate for the apocalyptic feel of the story. I love the art.

If you follow my reviews, you know I usually get bored fast by the fight fight fight style of story telling but it's too soon to tell if that will be the case. Maybe not as this does feed plot tidbits in between all the fight scenes. We shall see. I don't want to give out more of the plot because it would be a heavy spoiler. I do think I'll look for more of this for my personal library at the moment.

In the near future these towers spring up around the Earth killing off much of the population and challenging people to get to the top. This whole thing uses a lot of video game logic instead of common sense so a lot of this won't make sense. As people climb the tower, items pop up like video games and about half way through the crux of the story changes. That's when it really lost me. At that point, I was thinking "Well, this is kind of stupid." It did not get better after that.

The art's solid. The panel work not so much. There were also times where panels were overly busy and I couldn't tell what was happening in them other than fighting. There's also that manga thing I hate where the artist will skip drawing an eye or nose to save time. You can't just have a face missing an eye because you don't have time to draw it. At least hide it with shadows or hair instead of giving the reader unfinished art.

I picked this up because the original story is by the same author as Solo Leveling, singNsong, as is the adapter. It has same elements as Solo Leveling, like an individual progressing through increasingly lethal levels of a system, or fabricated reality, and a solitary hero who surpasses everyone in skill and strength.

However, this wasn’t as compelling and interesting as Solo Leveling. It took a while to get into the story, the backstory compressed into a few pages that throws characters and situations at the reader. The main character, Jaehwan, once he emerged, wasn’t very interesting. He completely lacks a backstory or character, and the reader roots for him mostly because there is no one else.

The story advances at a fast pace, and what the description lets to understand is the main story, is only a warmup. Art was beautiful, but I’m not sure I’ll continue with the story.

I had high hopes for this manhwa, as it was written by the same couple who wrote Omniscient Reader's Viewpoint, which I loved. However, from the looks of it, this story is going to fall short of that masterpeice. For one thing, the MC doesn't have much that distinguishes him other than grit. All of his sidekicks die so you can't really root for anyone else. The new people he meets at the end of the book seem evil and don't have any interests in mind other than their own. And the whole concept of the world is confusing. They're somehow in a nightmare and in a coma, but what's happening to them is real? And the towers are there so that gods can create supernatural beings that they can then bid on for some reason? It's all a bit confusing and also sad. Not my cup of tea, but the artwork was pretty good.

This was the best book I have read in a while. One thing I had a fun time reading. And it was my type of book. But if your not into blood and killing then no. Because every chapter had killing. But this is a manga but it was not very realistic it looks well drawn though. So since it's not very realistic it's not very scary. It took me like an hour to read this and I'm not going to lie I had no Cons with this which is something really weird cuz I'm a very skeptical reader. And I normally never lie about why I'm rating so for this to be five stars is amazing. This is my first manga in a while and it really got me into manga so much that I really bought so many mango books and I'm so ready to read them. And I even searched up when book two is coming out so yeah. That's my rate.

I'll admit, I was expecting this to be another Solo Leveling. While the two do have their obvious similarities, I was actually pleasantly surprised to see that The World After the Fall had some distinctive qualities to set it apart. Jaehwan seemed to be just another hot, OP, protaganist, but he seemed to have at least a little more personality then Jinwoo from Solo (sorry). Looks like the bar is pretty low for this genre. I thought the whole "stabbing" skill thing was pretty funny, and Jaehwan's character design is great. The art is very well done, and while the plot was a bit confusing to me at times, I see lots of potential for development in the future.

Mino seems like such a cool character. I hope she doesn't die because I love her.

the art on this story has me clutching my pearls all the time, gosh what a thing of beauty 🙏❤️

jaehwan especially is a sight for sore eyes 👀

I’m such a huge sucker for lonely mc finding his way to take revenge and finally find peace and love in their new life that this story hit all the points for me 👌

but no kidding, in just 3 chapters, this story made my heart ache for the mc and the walkers who one by one lost hope. this shit’s heartbreaking for real 💔

and wait WAS THAT KIM DOKJA WHAT THE 😳😳 is this universe tied somehow to orv? 👀

this whole system is so different from orv though… while there are some similarities, i’m so interested to see where this is going 🤔🤔

boy, this is getting good! 5 stars ⭐️ for a great beginning 👌
