A captivating novel of political scandal, about men in power and the women who love them. April Wayne, 23 years old, is interning for a charismatic senator from California. When she disappears one night, suspicion falls on the senator who was the last one to see her. When the media learn that the two were supposedly having affair, he becomes their prime suspect.
INTERN tells April’s story, and the senator’s, but it also tells the story of the two women forced into the spotlight as a result of the disappearance. It is the story of April's mother, Gloria, who becomes consumed with finding her daughter, while her husband descends into a paralyzing depression. It is also the story of Suzanne, the senator's dutiful wife, who has to confront the shocking truth about the man to whom she has devoted her life.
INTERN is rich and layered page-turner you won’t be able to put down.

This mystery moves right along and keeps you engaged with its structure of looking at the story from different points of view for each short chapter. I didn't quite catch how the group of barflies became a part of it in the beginning and some of them played roles at the end that didn't entirely add up for me - but all in all it was a decently told story with some nice character development for some of the main characters. I particularly liked the portrayal of the mother and the reporter she became involved with as they searched for her daughter.
An unfaithful politician, his fragile wife, a missing mistress and her frantic parents could easily, unfortunately, be a story from any number of newspapers in the last decade. I knew the "who" but not the "how" of it all and wondered what the author could have done to make the reading more enjoyable and then realized that the subject matter had a lot to do with it. A definite C-.
Mystery and suspense highlight this chiller about a missing political intern. Bonnie Hearn Hill tells the story from the eyes and heart of the mother, the politician, and the politician’s wife as their lives twist and turn every step of the way while the girl is missing. The mother, using every thing she can think of to keep the police on the case of finding her daughter. The politician, using every trick in the book to blow it off and get re-elected (I know. I know. Hard to believe.) The wife, determined to support her husband. An absolutely unexpected ending. Loved it.
Its, meh, an alright book, not the very best but honestly I just didn't love it as much as I thought i would, and I'm a huge fan of Bonnie's work. But on the other hand I did enjoy the character development and that sort of sense of revenge amongst them as one girl causes the events to fall into place. I don't really hate this one I just wanted a bit more from the book, Bonnie, Your work is great, but please give me more in your next one (looks at killer body)
So let me tell you all why.
I'll do what I did for the Kane Chronicles and divide my likes and dislikes into to separate sectors, so here we go.
Sector 1)
The long, slow and super boring chapters, more focused on the mother...yes i get the fact that she wants revenge against Eric Berry over her daughter April, but damn woman on every other page of your chapters? really? And another thing, could you not bore me for more that three minutes, actually try to communicate with my need for speed in a thriller? James Patterson did such a thing and I love his books. Eric...and Denny, what a bunch of assholes....(like the Angry Video Game Nerd and Nostalgia Critic, but with less personality)I just could not get into that hole thing with Eric and April...and don't even get me started on Suzanne...Yeh and to the end I just...don't get it, I guess it was trying to make some sense of the story but really, it was like a bunch of leftover writing mashed together and than recycled (by E.L. James) but with that that wraps up my complains of the book.
End of sector 1
Sector 2)
What I enjoyed about the book was the writing style, the description, and the power behind Bonnie's words that really got my attention, enough to get past the parts that annoyed me. And Bonnie's way of world building...don't even get me started on how well done that was, I just loved every single moment of it. I just loved the overall feeling to the places and the way things went throughout the book, each chapter even if it was bad, made me want to turn every page, not even wanting to get up to grab some pizza, or even play my 3ds. I just had to make the time to read more of this book, and aside of sector 1, I can't wait to read more books by Bonnie.
End of Sector 2
Overall, the ideal and plot worked well together, character development worked out quite nice, regardless of the trash parts of the characters, and the best part of this book is what makes you read it even more, so do our world a favor and pick this one up,you must try and open your mind to a new world, and for me.

In this stellar stand-alone thriller novel from Bonnie Hearn Hill, Intern, this story was similar in nature and ripped from the news headlines. April Wayne was a 23-year old young woman who interned for the senator and had it all, when she had a promise of love from a married man and threw it all away. Later when she disappeared, the senator became the main suspect. This story was two from two POVs, April's mother Gloria, and the senator's wife Suzanne. Gloria would do anything to find and save her daughter, while Suzanne would learn the shocking truth of her husband and might not stand by her man.
A friend of mine gave me this book to read, she said it was right up my alley, she was right! INTERN BY BONNIE HEARN HILL is a fast paced thrill ride & you dont know who did it till the last chapter. You can guess, but I can guarantee you will be wrong!
Political sex, lies & half truths, INTERN takes you into the life of Senator Eric Barry. His young intern, April is missing. Is she just mad at him or is she dead? And if she's dead who killed her? The Senator? His wife? You dont know until you read the book cause I am not going to tell you!
If you like fast paced hot action mysteries, you have to read the INTERN BY BONNIE HEARN HILL.
This was almost painful to read. Every chapter is about a different person. It was hard to remember what the person was doing/thinking four chapters ago. My husband might like it though. He has LBD so his short term memory is disappearing. Perhaps the short chapters will appeal to him.
The story itself is only "OK." It was a given from the start that the Senator had killed the intern. Are women really that stupid to allow themselves to be physically hurt? Many things in this book were hard to believe.
This book by Bonnie Hearn Hill is an interesting read but not the best I have rad on the topic. It had enough interest to keep me reading but not enough to really grab me like a few have done.
J. Robert Ewbank author "John Wesley, Natural Man, and the 'Isms'"
A "ripped from the headlines" type book with the unfaithful politician, his fragile wife, the missing mistress and her heartsick parents. The author presents the story from the various points of view of the key characters.
I read this book after meeting the author, and was pleasantly surprised. Hill has experience as a journalist, and you can really tell with her attention to detail. While I'm not sure the more "paranormal" chapters works for me, the whole trip was worth the read.
Some of the subject matter in this book hit very close to home for me. In that aspect, it was a tough read, because it dredged up some heavy emotions. Bonnie did a great job at creating a page turner. This was a good read.
