Escape to Malibu this summer with the Queen of the Beach Reads
Investigative reporter Lara Stone is on holiday. Her LA-based boyfriend Alex has use of a postcard-perfect beach retreat in Malibu and has promised her two weeks of sun, sea and relaxation. But the house has a secret. Fifty years earlier, Verity Jones, a charismatic singer-songwriter who used to own the house was found dead in the bath after one of her legendary parties. A tragic accident - or so everyone said at the time.
But Lara isn’t so sure. When she befriends her neighbour Evelyn Lane – a celebrated 'about-to-retire' writer – she finds out that Verity’s group of friends - bohemians, creatives and wannabe stars that lived in the Laurel Canyon area of LA - all had reason to want Verity out of the picture.
For Martha, finding out the truth about Verity’s death is one last story. But as Lara investigates and makes powerful enemies in the City of Stars, it could be her last story too.

"Tasmina Perry left a career in law for the more glamorous world of women’s magazine journalism.
She has written on celebrity and style for many national magazines including Marie−Claire‚ Glamour and Heat and was most recently Deputy Editor of InStyle magazine. She has also found time to launch her own travel and fashion magazine Jaunt. All of her four novels have been Sunday Times best-sellers and her books have been published in seventeen countries.
Really disappointed with this book compared to the previous Lara Stone novels. The story was boring and didn't seem to go anywhere. I skim read the last 20% just to finish the book!
Too many errors in this book. Laziness by proof readers/author. Very annoying when you have paid money to buy a book and it has not been properly checked for errors. Plot is pretty thin, author having to invent 'famous' stars and music from 70's era. Looks as if this series of Lara Stone mysteries has run its course.
Always enjoy Tasmina Perrys story lines and attention to detail. Good twists and turns and interesting characters. Felt it went on just a bit longer than it should have at times but all round good read
