Start your engines... Day 3 after the EMPs begins.
After days of delays, Joey intends to put some serious miles on his Mustang, desperate to cover some distance toward Chicago before the whole state of Kansas falls apart. With few allies and a growing list of enemies, his journey will not be easy.
In Florida, Kamino and her two new friends are stuck babysitting the abandoned children, but the lawless gangs are coiling around them, getting ever closer. Is there anyone in charge who works for the good guys? Or are they totally on their own?
In New York City, Herb and Mildred, both in their eighties, come to terms with their fate in the giant urban jungle...
This is the third book in a new EMP collapse series set in EE Isherwood’s Neighborhood Watch universe. This series takes place at the same time, but in different parts of a fallen America. Read one series, read the other, or, if you can’t get enough EMP thrills, read both!
E.E. Isherwood has been a storyteller for over 30 years. Initially the muse took the form of childish comic strips. As a teen it manifested itself under the guise of Dungeons and Dragons adventures. In college it culminated with a Master's thesis on Missouri geography—an extremely boring kind of story. Three decades and several careers later he realized that siren song never stopped, so he began to author books. A life-long enthusiast of apocalyptic fiction, writing about zombies was his passion. Future titles in science fiction and fantasy are in the hopper. He lives in the St. Louis, Missouri area, where his series of zombie books takes place.
1000 Miles of Bad Road 3: After the EMPs by E.E. Isherwood is an fast paced, action-packed story of a post-apocalyptic story told through three different groups of characters. You've got Joey, Libby, and Victoria running like a bat out of Hell with the paddle to the metal in Joey's classic Mustang from rogue-traitorist U.S. Government military personnel, The Legion, South America Cartels, and hoodlums trying to get to Chicago. You'll read about Kamino, Garth, and Liam in Florida trying to help four preschoolers find their parents. Lastly, you have Herb, Mildred, Anna, and Xavier trying to survive Jamaican gang members trying to take over their block in New York.
This fast-paced story is well written, the characters are well defined, and the storyline is very interesting and will hold you in suspense from the first page to the last. You will find yourself routing for all three groups to survive the chaos and violence around every corner.
I have really enjoyed this book and series so far and hope you, too, will find yourself enjoying it also.
1000 Miles of Bad Road, book 3, is a fast paced and dramatic continuation of the series. I love the characters and the many twists and dangers they must face during an apocalyptic journey. Of course, I expected nothing less from the extremely talented and imaginative author E. E. Isherwood! Grab the series and enjoy!
This continues a good series. Some parts are getting to be a little repetitive, esp with Joey and that road crew. Still, his Mustang is the most durable and reliable car ever with the beating it has taken. It would seem like petrol must be a bigger problem than it seems to be. Nonetheless, I actually like all of these people and Kamino and her friends are rock stars for taking responsibility for preschoolers abandoned by their caregiver. I really want Herb and Mildred to get home as well and look forward to book 4.
