Huge thanks to Trinity Matthews for giving me an ARC of this book!

I found myself loving Dawn of Wings and Ruin more than Between fae & flames. It had much higher stakes, we begin to see the plot forming and get some context and background information. We got a new character, Mykill and he was the real hero of this book! I loved his personality and I’m excited to know more of him. I love how he trained Alethea and didn’t treat her like a porcelain doll.
Eryx and Mykill actually gave me the Tamlin - Rhysand vibes and I am here for it!!
I can’t wait to see where the author takes us in the next books!!🤩
A lot better than the first book- so much more detail and character development. There was still some plot holes but I really enjoyed it and I’m excited for the 3rd :)
What the hell did I read?? Like really what the hell!!!???? I'm bombarded with so many events and explanations and also infinite questions!!! Though this story was really was total 180° Flip to book 1 !! I didn't at all expect the turn of events!! Soo damn good but so many events left at stake!! The storyline is so original and well written! BUT I NEED BOOOK 3 AND ANSWERS ASAP😖😖
This book wasn’t nearly as good as the first one but I feel like the 2nd book of a trilogy is always jot as good as the first. I read this in a couple of sittings- the plot is really quite simple and the book in general is an easy read so that’s why it didn’t take me long. I can’t believe that Eryx is now like that- out of every plot twist that could happen i was very shocked about him. However, about halfway through the book I could kind of predict that he wasn’t really destined for Alethea. But I was nowhere near expecting Mykill and her but I love it, buuuut i’m was confused at the end because her and him were saying they don’t want it but they literally kissed like 5 chapters before. I really really hope they end up together and i’m scared of what Eryx is gonna do.

Okay, I was unprepared for what I just read. Let me be real- I devoured this book. Written to the same calibre of others topping the genre at the moment. It is a beautiful story, beautiful world and absolutely sucks you in. I have been hanging for the second instalment in the series. I enjoy the pacing, however I was mildly frustrated with the FMC at times. I feel like there is so much to be uncovered, and I need book 3 yesterday! One of my favourite reads of the year, and I will be on the countdown for book 3. This was a gifted ARC with no obligation to post.
Alethea felt like such a whiny damsel in distress in book 1 and then does a complete 180 switch on us in book 2! Seeing her grow into herself and start to question those around her was my favorite part of her character growth in this book.
I knew it was happening while I was reading it but I still can't believe Eryx pulled a TAMLIN ON US!!! I AM FLOORED. That being said, the moment Alethea described Mykill as looking "like a god" I had a good idea what was going down 😏😏
It's the first time I've seen a "fated mate" trope be written in this way and I absolutely loved it! Mykill does everything he can to put things into perspective for Alethea and just be a supportive friend. Without him, Alethea wouldn't have realized the situation she's in until it was far too late to change anything. The character development in this book was crazy good and I can't wait for book 3!!!

This was paced much better than book 1 and it made such a difference!
This story did not go the way I was expecting it to go at all. When I thought I had it figured out, Trinity just straight up suplexed my mind and emotions.
The action continues right from where Between Fae and Flames leaves off keeping you hooked to the plot throughout.
Alethea continues to be strong as heck while going through some awful things.
Eryx... I’m not ready to talk about it yet. I- I just can’t, okay? I need more time. My heart is torn because I see where his head is at in some ways, but in others... WHAT THE HELL, GUY?! You’ll understand when you read it.
Mykill intrigued me straightaway and I grew very attracted to this character. He’s so direct and broody and sure of himself.
That ending though... That was the shocker of a cliffhanger, I NEED the next book, like, yesterday please.

First, a huge thank you to the author for generously providing me with an ARC of this book!
A quick heads-up: my review contains some spoilers from book one, so proceed with caution.
Lastly, please approach this book with care. It deals with several potentially triggering themes, including sexual assault, torture, PTSD, and abuse.

With that settled, let’s dive into the review! I didn’t write a review for the first book, mostly because, to be honest, the major cliffhanger left me pretty frustrated. So, the moment I got my hands on this sequel, I started reading immediately.
Trinity made this book an absolute whirlwind for me. I couldn’t put it down—I was up until 2 a.m. devouring every page! What really stood out was how the story took its time with Alethea’s healing journey. The slower pace felt genuine, adding a depth that I truly appreciated. Too often, in other books, the heroine’s trauma is glossed over and she quickly returns to her old self, but Alethea’s recovery was an unexpected and essential part of the story. It was so refreshing to see her healing given the space it deserved.
Anywho, I can’t say anything else or I’d give the entire plot away. I have so many unanswered questions, so I’m impatiently waiting for the second book!! Write girl, write 😂💙

This book gave me what I wanted in the first book. I got multiple POVs. I got side conversations and the extra side details giving it more depth than the first. There is love, there is hate, there is enemies to lovers and lovers to enemies. We have sirens, more war, prisoners / torture, dragons & old fae, winged fae. The ending left me wanting more. • • Alethea is giving Aelin Wildfire. Erix is giving Tamlin. The volcanic dragon gives me Smaug vibes. The Alethea/ Erix /Mykill trio gives me early Celaena / Chaol / Dorian vibes. • • Alethea is mated & then betrayed. She is kidnapped and tortured for over a month after the humans-land king is murdered. Once she is rescued she is more confused than ever regarding her love life. Everything and everyone she knew is gone. Things get more complicated for her when she catches fire one day and something drastic happens. She can’t trust who she thought she could, now she trusts no one. And the one she’s most upset about, is out for revenge now.
This was an intense read. The stakes definitely got ramped up in this sequel and I was shocked at each new revelation. Trinity definitely knows how to make us to hate the villain. I loved that we got more world building and more about the lore of the world Trinity has created.
Alethea was a badass. I was glad she took control in this book and didn't just go along with everything. Her character development made me cheer for her time and time again. But sorry Eryx, move over there's a new guy in town! I LOVED Mykill! Mykill was my favourite in this one and I can't wait to start book 3 to read more about him!
Overall, a great book that didn't fall into the middle book syndrome. I highly recommend this series!
- Initially got this as an ARC but was unable to read it before publication.
Siren, dragons, winged fae, torture... Dawn of Wings and Wrath is the second book in Trinity Matthews' Daughter of the Gods series and does a complete 180 from Between Fae and Flames in the best way.
'A life of adventure seems to fit you' This book continues the story of Alethea and Eryx and introduces some new characters that become an integral part of the story and who you very quickly become invested in. The story is original, and just when you think you have figured out what is going to happen next... think again.
'I would not be broken' If you're looking for a book with dual POV, love, hate, betrayal and will play on all of your emotions, be sure to grab your copy of Dawn of Wings and Wrath.
Girlllll!!! The first 200 pages fully could’ve been like 50 and then allllllllllllllll the lore and plot that was left to the last 90 pages 😐 could’ve been SO FREAKING GOOD LIKE 🥹I wanna know more pls like I beg the plot is plotting however… Eyrx your giving wife beater and annoying, Alethea girl cry one more time and I’ll loose my marbles you whinny Bitch 😂😂😂 the ONLY character that is likable is literally named My-kill like am I reading that as Micheal or?? Plot 4 stars Characters 😐🤨.. 1 THE WORD BLOSSOM NEEDS TO BE REMOVED FROM THE DICTIONARY I REFUSE DO U HEAR ME REFUSE TO READ THAT DAMN WORD ONE MORE TIME I BEG OF YOU PLS SERIOUSLY . Thank you 😌
Anyway pls do the third one it’s getting interesting 😍
I thoroughly enjoyed Trinity's 2nd book in the Daughter of the God's series. This book is much darker than the first.
Poor Alethea goes through some stuff, and you just want to scoop her up and give her a hug. You can kind of understand why she is treated the way she is by a certain MMC throughout the book. We learn a lot more about our FMC as the story unfolds and hints as to why the High Priest picked her out of all the young girls in the human lands.
I'd recommend this series to people who love A Court of Thorns and Roses. I hope Trinity isn't offended when I say the bones are similar, but the flesh is totally different! It has those plots points we love from ACOTAR, Fourth Wing, and even Shatter Me and just as those are different stories, so is this.
While the first book had its charm, this next installment truly captivates you and takes you on an exhilarating journey. All the aspects I felt were missing in the first book are more than fulfilled in this one. The characters, the plot, the development of the world and magic—all of it bursts vibrantly from the pages.
One of the things I love about Trinity's writing is the fast pace she maintains. I never feel like I'm just trying to get through the early chapters to reach the big moments.
If you enjoy the intense emotional dynamics found in "ACOMAF," with its push and pull between characters, then this is the book for you.
And let’s not forget the ending! Fortunately, book three is already on my Kindle, as I couldn't wait to start reading it right away.

It took me a little while to remember the plot of the previous book but once I did, I was eager to find out what had happened to Alethea.
The pacing was slow here and there but it did improve in the second half of the book.
I liked Alethea. It was refreshing to read a FMC that refused to forgive her partner after she found out that he had lied to her multiple times. Rather than fall for his seduction and more lies, Alethea chose to distance herself from Eryx.
I'm not sure how I feel about Mykill just next. I don't know if he can be trusted 100%.
I did see a certain plot twist coming as it was fairly obvious.
The ending left me curious enough that I'll read the next book
First, I would like to thank the author for the advance copy of this book. Thank you for trusting me with your work.
What a rollercoaster of emotions and events! To say I’m feeling a bit starved for book 3 would be an understatement! It was amazing to experience Alethea’s continuing transformation through this book and I cannot wait to see who she becomes as she embraces her power, her rage and her fate. Did I become more obsessed with Mykill every chapter? Yes, yes I did. (But honestly, who could blame me?) I am dying to see how the threads of fate may twist and turn for Alethea and her world as war looms on the horizon.
Okkkkk erm I need book 3 ASAP. I am so enthralled in this series it’s not even funny. It was so so good, I was on the edge of my seat the whole time. It definitely gave acotar vibes, which I absolutely loved. You could see the plot twist coming, but I will say Trinity did such a fantastic job of keeping the reader engaged. There were times in the middle where I didn’t know what side to be on, which I think is just a sign of a great writer. The book went a completely different route than I thought it would be I am SO here for it. BE AWARE: there is a TRIGGER WARNING for a reason don’t take it lightly.
Uhm, what? I have a thing where once I start a book, I like to finish it. I rarely, rarely, DNF. But I kind of wish I never picked up this book. I just don't understand, I don't get it, and everything has felt forced and rushed.
Another readers peeve of mine is an author building up a character to destroy them. If it's a removal of the mask type of thing, then I'm okay with it. But a sudden, curveball, let's just turn this character into someone completely different is not something I enjoy as a reader.
This was a difficult book to read, and I won't be finishing the series.
how could i love one character in the beginning and then hate him in the end??? That’s how bad Eryx is :) i love Mykill and Cadmus, but mostly Mykill hehe he is a cutie (even though he wants to look terrifying) loved the development and the realization of the abusive relationship of our star Alethea i can feel her pain off letting go of Eryx (it also hurts for me, because he was so caring once) but I know it is for a better future loved Cadmus protection to her as Eryx was mad about her “betrayal”
We start right were book 1 ended and YAY that's what I needed because if you have read the first one you KNOW WHAT HAPPENS AND YOU KNOW YOU NEED ANSWERS.
Ans trust me, you get answers in this book and more shocking revelations. This was a whole journey and I can't wait for book 3 because AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.
I already have so many theories in my head and I'm in love with some characters!! I don't want to say too much because of spoilers hehehe. I'm LOVING Alethea's journey 🥹🥹🥹
4.75⭐️ my god what is wrong with eryx. i went from liking him to hating him. he was important to aletheas character growth and was good in the being but their relationship was not healthy in the end. he kept lying to her. just not ok. love mykill! i def had my suspicions that eryx wasn’t endgame and thank god he wasn’t. mykill is gonna be perfect for alethea.. also in the end he was like ‘i don’t want the mate bond’ but he totally does. he’s obsessed with her already. i love it! next book pls!!!

I'm really liking the story and very excited to see where things go next. I loved the fated mates twist and wonder if there's a little more to it that we don't yet know. The sass she has with Mykill is the best. I snorted aloud quite a few times.
A little confused on the high priest/mage but that will probably be wrapped up in the next book.
(I do have an irk but it is very specific to me. It's also quite common misconception for people who don't know about riding horses - you NEVER signal a horse to move off (walk, trot, or lope) by jerking the reins. Reins are for steering only, lightly, and light pulls back for stopping though good riders don't use the reins for stopping either. But yeah...big irk for me but rather prevalent in their writing.)
I LOVED this book. I am so invested in Alethea and the introduction of new characters that I was interested in getting to know... I can't wait to see where this story goes next... There were a lot of emotions for me in this one... from feeling Alethea's relief... and betrayal... and seeing her strength grow. Any time an author can make me feel so strongly... the book deserves a 5 star review from me.
This book the follow on from the first in the daughter of the gods series is brilliant.
So many twists and turns I think I have whiplash. Brilliant book read it straight after the first, and couldn't put it down. That was helped by a kitten asleep on me.
I don't want to give anything away, so all I will say is grab a bottle of whatever your choosing and snacks as you will need them for the ride, I know the MC (i cant spell her name) did, so will you.
Read the first book and had A LOT of questions and the second book answered most of them. Definitely way better world building and plot development in this book. The characters also change and grow so much it was really fun to read. These books could easily be 100-200 pages longer but i do appreciate the fast pace. Can’t wait to read the next book!! The amount of lore in this series could easily make 6 books.
In short, I have a lot of questions, and I need the next book ASAP pretty please and thank you! I really thought I had it figured out, just to find out I was so far from right it's silly. Definitely paced better than the first one, with good character development, and plot setting. 10/10, will read again. Please release the next one soon!!!!
I devoured this book! An enthralling second book in the series where we continue to follow Alethea as she learns more about herself and her past. With some amazing plot twists (oh my oh my Mykill!) I really can’t wait to read the next book because that cliff hanger has really left me hanging!
