Sometimes opposites really do attract—even when you’re doing everything in your power to fight it.
Being a single mom juggling work, college, and life is already enough to keep me on my toes. The last thing I need—way down at the bottom of my never-bucket list—is getting tangled up in a series of bizarre events that links me to Granite Ice’s most eligible bachelor, Jackson Owen. A star goalie with a lucky glove and a cocky smile, Jackson is exactly the kind of distraction I can’t afford. But fate, with its twisted sense of humor, keeps throwing us together. The more I resist, the more I realize—maybe life has a different game plan for me. And, well . . . the chemistry? It’s undeniable. Come and Get Your Glove is a will-they-won’t-they, just kisses hockey romcom that reminds readers love can find you in the most unexpected ways—even when you are skating in the wrong direction.
*As with all the books in this series, this is complete standalone.
Come and Get Your Glove is positively laced with love ( get it?) ,it’s by JP Sterling and she’s an author who I love . Her stories are always sunny and romantic as well as funny and full of antics . Even frantic on occasion . There’s this guy who has a lucky glove , he hasn’t much had an everlasting love . Never thought he’d want such a thing though this single mom does make his heart sing ..skip a beat . What’s going on ? He must be beat. There’s no way that on her he can be sweet! Jackson Owen is an IceHockey Goalie who plays for Granite Ice . He’s a player of well repute and it’s no disputing he’s got his form by a little change and he’s darn tooting his horn thanks to coach and his new uniform ,well his kit because now he’s got a lucky mitt ,the glove that he now loves and he feels invincible in it. Oh dear !it seems that Kaci Roberts isn’t having so much fun as she’s juggling all life throws you know but she’s bringing up her boy on her own and it’s been a bit manic but she refuses to get herself into a panic .She works at the Grove restaurant does twelve hour shifts. Waiting for her ex Chase to drop off her eight year old Bella she could throw something at the fella ,bringing her home with a bag of dirty clothes when he knows Kaci hasn’t got a washer and she has to use the local laundromat. Well this is a right to do ,she bagged the last machine too .Rigsby Kane from little Bella’s class is Jackson Owen’s son.And their respective parents have just had a spat in a laundromat. Can things get any worse? Well it’s their lucky day because the answer to that question? No way! But as it happens they’re both in a position to help each other out of their current situation .Jackson needs someone to take care of Rigsby ,thank you ma’am Kaci for stepping in. Kaci needs to get to her exam and thank you Jackson perhaps you’re not quite in the sin bin after all. Well after a while they even make each other smile and a few mishaps along the way but they finally are able to get through a day! This is so like JP her books are heavenly and cute ,with all the feels I could squeal like a girl ,I don’t but hey these characters made my day! Delightfully well written the characters I’m smitten and the whole storyline is sublime it’s bliss . I had a good time reading this . An absolute treasure such a pleasure.
As always, I’m on a hockey romance kick, and this sweet romance was adorable! Kaci and Jackson couldn’t be more different, and disaster after disaster keeps throwing them together. Toss in a secret ferret, a missing teddy, and a lucky glove that won’t stay put, and you’ve got a fun romance! I didn’t think Jackson would ever convince Kaci to give him a chance, but he definitely had the right idea! Bella and Rigsby are so much fun, and that ferret 🤣 don’t miss out on this sweet hockey romance!
A series of unfortunate events brings Jackson and Kaci together in the most hilarious of ways in this sweet hockey romcom by JP Sterling. Making romance is not for the faint of heart when you are carting around a kid covered in vomit, missing important tests, and getting the worst Uber driver.
"The trick to great romance is in overcoming adversity. In realizing that love is worth some uphill climbs." — Sarah MacLean
Jackson and Kaci don't have the best first impression of one another, but that changes really quickly when adversity and mutual commiseration sparks into something more. I thought this story was natural and realistic, with some really hilarious moments because of some sweet little ones that occasionally steal the show! Once you meet Frankfurter, you'll know what I mean!
The thing I love about reading JP is that she really wants to deliver us a HEA without too much drama. It's nice sometimes to not get totally lost in the angst of a story. Some stories can just be fun and sweet, and just what you need. I'm charmed by this adorable hockey romcom!
I received a complimentary copy of the author's story to read and review. All thoughts contained here are my own.
Oh my goodness, one word sums up this book: hilarious!! I still can’t stop laughing, remembering some of the antics from this book. The entire beginning is a series of mishaps, where whatever can go wrong inevitably does. Kaci and Jackson are both having an awful day but they finally team up and help each other out. This leads them to realize how good they are together. Kaci is apprehensive at first because of her ex but Jackson manages to convince her to give them a chance. He is so sweet to Kaci and Bella, and he has such a great relationship with his nephew Rigsby. I love them together and I highly recommend this book!
Well, of course I'm going to be a little biased, but I adore Jackson and Kaci's sweet story. I wrote this story to have a little "One Fine Day" vibes. Did anyone else see the connection? I was also so ecstatic to be able to use the name Kaci in honor of a bookstagrammer who is always an amazing source of support for sweet romance. The whole book community is better with her there. I hope you enjoy your story, Kaci... X.O. J.P.
A Ferret, Seven Year Olds, and a Flying Teddy Bear
Jackson is the Goalie for the AHL team the Granite Ice. Shortly after a game he meets up with his sister so she can give him her son, his nephew Rigsby, for the next day. He promised her she could have some adult time with her husband before she heads into the hospital to give birth to her new baby. While Jackson is a great Funcle, he doesn’t actually have a clue about childcare. 😏 Meanwhile, Kaci has just done the trade-off with her ex-husband for their daughter, Bella. While her ex was supposed to take care of Bella’s laundry while he had her, he didn’t. So now Kaci has to go to the laundromat to take care of it. It’s a school night for both mother and daughter, so they are tired, hungry and a tad moody.
Jackson and Kaci meet at said laundromat, but they totally rub each other the wrong way. It wasn’t anyone’s fault entirely; it was just the way life goes sometimes. I have to admit that I wasn’t that big a fan of Kaci at first, mostly because she was so…so something. Eventually, thanks to some very amusing ‘mistakes’ that happened as part of their Meet Cute in this story, only their first meeting wasn’t cute – it was their second one that was. By the middle of the book I was rooting for Jackson and the kids, eventually hoping Kaci could lower her wall and find love again. The ferret and the lightning bolt were hysterical and made me want to see what happens next. Hockey RomComs during the NHL playoffs are great! I can’t wait to read the other books in this series!
This funny and rather endearing book is a joy to read. Jackson certainly does not make a good impression on Kaci when they first meet, but Fate or a divine being seems determined to put these two together. From their awkward and barely civil first meeting at the laundromat when both are a tad overwhelmed and definitely not at their best, to the the seeming endless next day where everything that can go wrong does indeed go wrong, Jackson and Kaci’s impression of each other undergoes a radical shift. Rude and irritating is how they first peg each other, then gradually as the band together just to get through the next day with two kids in tow, they appreciate each other’s perseverance, resilience and patience. The attraction that was there at their first meeting but set aside due to their irritation with each other, resurfaces and both also become aware of the sparks created at a simple touch between them. Even the kids are aware of something special happening between the two adults. But will they be brave enough to act on their attraction or go about their lives without trying to see if they could have something real and special between them?
There are so many moments in this book that made me giggle, snicker and laugh out loud. There are also a few tender moments when Jackson shows that he has a softer, thoughtful and caring side, one that very much appeals to Kaci who has had very little attention or caring directed at her. These two are so darn loveable, as are the two kiddos who have a hand in bringing them together. I am very happy to recommend this amazing book.
Quick Summary: A lighthearted sports do-over romance
My Review: Come and Get Your Glove by J.P. Sterling is a 2025 release. It is labeled as a "Sweet Hockey Rom Com."
About the Book: "Come and Get Your Glove is a will-they-won’t-they, just kisses hockey romcom that reminds readers love can find you in the most unexpected ways—even when you are skating in the wrong direction."
In My Own Words: A single parent mom and a hockey goalie meet in the strangest of circumstances. Their initial meeting was not an oh so sweet meet-cute. What came after, however, was very much sweetness and then some.
My Final Say: This cute romance short was darling. It was all about connection, kindness, kids...and a furry, little friend. The characters were charming. The hijinks were funny. The kiss chemistry was good. What won me over was the do-over energy. It had a whole "when you know, you know" vibe.
Other: Readers who enjoy accidental oops meetups, first kiss tales, and clean sports rom-coms will adore this story.
Rating: 4/5 Recommend: Yes Audience: A Status: Clean Level: 🫶
Sincere appreciation is extended to the author, to the publisher (Victory Editing NetGalley Co-op | J.P. Sterling), and to NetGalley. Thank you for providing access to a digital ARC of this title in exchange for an honest review. I appreciate the opportunity.
When ice hockey goalie Jackson loses his lucky glove in Come and Get Your Glove by J.P. Sterling, he has no idea his life is going to change, for the glove is found by single Mom Kaci, who is determined to get a better life for her and her daughter.
This was such a lovely and funny book to read. It starts with an interaction between Jackson and Kaci and that scene was just great. I had to smile a lot while reading that scene. But then they have this idea of helping each other out, because Jackson has to babysit his nephew and Kaci has to go finish her school exam. This makes for a lot of mishaps along the way, but also their relationship blossoms.
The two kids are just lovely, they get into a lot a funny situations and these scenes just make this book a great read. I loved how Jackson behaved around his nephew and Kaci, he is a great character, helpful, charming and very understanding.
Come and Get Your Glove is a great lovely hockey romance story, with two very likable characters, two great kids, a good story-line, it has humour, drama, romance and a lot of funny situations, together with a flowing writing style.
Come and Get Your Glove is the third book in the Sweet RomCom Hockey series but can absolutely be enjoyed as a standalone as well.
A romance that starts with a vomit-covered kid? Who would have thought such a thing could work... and yet in this story, it somehow did! The bulk of Jackson and Kaci's story takes place over just a few days... but my goodness, what a few days they were! Both of these characters are having the worst kind of days--- everything going wrong. And yet, they find each other is the midst of it all. Their story had me chuckling throughout, seeing all the ways life keeps throwing them curveballs... the romance in the midst of that was really sweet and I couldn't help but root for them to get their happily ever after through it all. I read a lot of hockey romcoms, but this one was definitely unique in the best ways possible.
Come and Get Your Glove is a closed-door romance with kisses only and no language.
**ARC received via Netgalley for consideration. All opinions are my own.
Funny book about hockey players, their superstitions and rituals, and crisis mode if the lucky item is misplaced! Jackson has his seven year old nephew overnight to help his sister and ends up needing to wash his coat before going to eat. One thing and another, and his lucky glove gets left behind at the laundromat. Found by the woman who "stole" his machine while doing her daughter's laundry, her daughter knows the nephew from school and a message that her daughter, Bella, will bring it to school in the morning is sent. And so it begins... A meet up planned that returns the glove. But fate has other ideas! I can't remember the last time I read a hockey or romance book this funny! Be prepared to laugh a lot and read the trials of what seemed to be the longest day ever! Unpredictable, totally preposterous situations, and yet a terrific day follows the disaster of returning the glove. Go! Grab a copy of the book and get reading. You will love it!!!
This sweet and hilarious story has captured my morning. Jackson and Kaci's first meeting will not soon be forgotten. That old saying "if anything can go wrong, it will go wrong" certain applies to this situation. However, those strange times make for wonderful memories when you look back on them.
I loved this sweet, swoony story of two souls who were meant for one another. When you add in two kids, it makes everything that much sweeter and definitely funnier. Jackson's love for his nephew was swoony in and of itself. There is just something about a big, bulky guy catering to his nephew that makes me happy.
If you enjoy a sweet, clean story with a romance that two people will have work toward, you will enjoy this one.
Thank you to Booksprout and the author for this ARC. I am leaving this review voluntarily.
When Jackson volunteers to watch his nephew, he has no idea what he is getting into! After some unfortunate events (or maybe fortunate events depending on how you look at things!), Jackson learns that his lucky hockey glove is missing. Single mom Kaci just wants to get her daughter to school so she doesn’t miss her field trip, and she can get to college to take her test. But, nothing is working in her favor either. Jackson and Kaci pack a lot of adventure into one day. Starting on a low means that things can only go up, right? This was a fun and quick read. Seeing glimpses of the Granite Ice hockey players is always a plus.

I’m definitely in my hockey romance era and this book delivers! Jackson & Kaci are such fun! I really enjoyed the audiobook version of this one. The human narrators were perfect for these characters! I’m a sucker for a single parent romance. Kaci is the strong, silent mom who is struggling, but handles her life on her own. Jackson is the pro-hockey funcle with a heart of gold. Sparks fly when these two meet, but they aren’t love sparks! I enjoyed how they moved past their “meet-ugh” and realized there might be something more. Honestly, two of my favorite characters are the kids! They are beyond cute as little matchmakers. The last scene (hint, epilogue) is too cute and made my heart swoon and there’s a ferret! This is a HEA sweet, clean romance that you will love!
This is book is more than just about a single mom getting a chance to fall in love again, it’s about knowing that you’re worthy of love no matter what life has thrown at you! This book is also more than just a hockey goalie checking a beautiful woman out! The antics that Jackson and Kaci had to go through with Bella and Rigsby were emotionally high and low. So much jam packed into such a short amount of time! Who knew a laundromat could set off such a chain reaction of misadventures.
Kaci is a hardworking, single mom to Bella, who has a relatively deadbeat ex. This mom not only works hard at her job but is also dedicated to completing her degree in Music Education after 8 years. When something unexpected shows up in her clean laundry, she’s initially hesitant to do anything about it, but her daughter devises a simple solution. If only, things would only run as smoothly as the idea.
Jackson is the carefree, star goalie of the Glacier Ice hockey team based in Mapleton. He’s also the best funcle in the world for taking Rigsby the night before his sister is set to be induced with her second child. When rough housing goes a little too far and lands the pair in a laundromat, well let’s just say paths get crossed and things get misplaced. With a recent crackdown of no distractions from the team ownership, this is the last thing Jackson needs.
Oh, the antics that ensue, you will laugh, cry, and overall feel for the plight of all the characters in this story. It’s not a flash in the pan occurrence for the four of them and I’m here for it! I loved how protective Kaci was as a mom, but also of herself to not be trampled on. I love that while Jackson is a great funcle, he genuinely wants to be a gentleman (most of the time) when it comes to Kaci and Bella. The simple moments are some of the most endearing and I love that too! I think it’s safe to say that this was an enjoyable read, and it is fun to continue getting to know some of the Glacier Ice team members! Bravo J.P.!
This was such a lovely book to read. It was absolutely hilarious how they met and how much bad luck they both seem to have that one day together. I absolutely loved how it went from disliking eachother to loving each other. The way Jackson was with Kaci and Bella but also with his nephew Rigsby was so cute. He was the best father figure you could wish in a story. The moment with the bears is something that stuck with me through the book. Also the moment at the rink with Rigsby and his pet was absolutely hilarious. I would definitely recommend this book to friends Sadly I can't give 4,5 stars on here but it definitely was 4,5 stars!
Loved Kaci, Bella, Jackson and Rigsby! When Jackson leaves his washer to get his wallet after his nephew throws up all over his coat, he finds his washer taken. Jackson is mad and throws a fit at Kaci who has also had a crappy day. Kaci has worked long hours and just got her daughter back from her dad along with a bag a dirty laundry, that needed washing. Bella finds this glove and tells her mom to let Jackson know that they found it, which leads to a chaotic day for Kaci, Jackson and the littles. What started off bad ends with a kiss Kaci can't forget, along with Jackson. It's funny how two 7 year olds can bring together these two. Just a fun read!
Come and Get Your Glove is a swoony, clean, heartwarming, romantic comedy with two cute kids and a ferret! I love how Jackson is so supportive of his sister and nephew, Rigsby. Kaci is a really great mother for Bella. Jackson's lucky glove was on its own journey in this un-put-downable book. One disaster after another throws Kaci, Jackson and the kids together. There are plenty of laugh out loud moments as well as a sweet romance. I love that Jackson retrieved Bella's lost teddy bear even though her provided a substitute as well. That man would do anything for a kid! This is one of the funniest books I have read this year. You do not want to miss it.
I like books of the Author and I loved the previous hockey romance of Noah and Paisley (Shot Through the Heart) and was happy to get Come and Get Your Glove. Kaci and Jackson's run for his Lucky Glove is really impressive. Day that feels like much more. All possible mishaps and troubles are there for them. Loved characters, kids and Frankfurter, the storyline and the way how the story is written. Love the Author's style - funny, entertaining and engaging. Sweet and adorable Jackson, so different to what Kaci could imagine. Will he reassure her to let him in?.

You know those days where you feel like the entire universe is against you?
Yeah, so does Kaci. And Jackson. Until they realise that those unfortunate events end up with them finding a true HEA, which neither of them anticipated...
Rigsby is such a cutie, and I was totally impressed by his antics with FrankFurTer. They totally had me laughing out loud while reading!
And I loved watching the friendship between Bella and Rigsby as well...
So many cute moments through this book! And a really fun read...

The only reason I'm giving Come and Get Your Glove 4 stars instead of 5 is because I couldn't remember Kaci's name as I came to the end of the book. I had to look it up! I now that's on me, but it's still true. For the title to mention the glove, I thought Jackson's glove would play a more prominent role in the story... Showing up at likely and unlikely times. I love the fact Jackson and Kaci spend a whole day together... Well, sort of mostly together. That was a lot of fun! I especially love that Jackson knows from that first day what he wants with Kaci and Bella; he doesn't waste much time letting his intentions known. That's how it should be done!!
4.5⭐️ Here For The Glove is exactly what I picture when I think of a book being lighthearted. It’s an easy read with minimal conflict, zero political or biased viewpoints and it’s a clean romance so it’s something you can recommend to just about everyone. It draws you in from the start and its fast pacing keeps you entertained until the very end. There was some light humor throughout the book and “cat-rat” scene had me giggling out loud. For a novella, I thought the author did a pretty good job and delivering a complete story.
I’m a sucker for a clean hockey romance. The comedy of errors that was the day after they first met was quite entertaining. The chemistry between Kari and Jackson was obvious even though she was really trying to deny it. I liked how it showed Kari’s hesitation because of her past and how Jackson was considerate and patient letting her work through it. Bella and Rigsby were adorable and I loved how Rigsby was his uncle’s little wingman!
Really cute quick read that kept me engaged the whole time.

This was a fun, quick read. I adored Kaci’s dedication to her daughter. I hated how she felt she had to sacrifice her wants for her daughter but I’m glad everything worked out. Jackson is hilarious. You can tell he got a quick dose of parenting reality with his nephew. His nephew truly made the story. He was blunt and told his uncle like it was but also was all mischievous boy. I have the same in my son so it truly made the story for me. This is a dual pov, clean romance. It is part of a series but can be read as a stand alone novel.
JP Sterling has once again created a beautiful, heartwarming story with a delicious HEA that I’m sure you will enjoy.
This book was so much fun!! I was literally laughing out loud many times at the hijinks the MC’s got into! Add in two precocious kids, a mischievous pet, hockey, and a senile Uber driver, and you have the perfect recipe for an entertaining book!! The book has plenty of action, keeping the story rolling along with the laughs. I enjoyed this book and I recommend it if you’re looking for a fun, easy book to put a smile on your face!!
Come and Get Your Glove by J.P Sterling a sweet hockey rom-com! Kaci and Jackson have just the right amount of pop and sizzle in their connection. I have not laughed so much while reading a romance book in a long time. This one was a hit from page one to the end. This is the second in the series and I will be grabbing the first one and read that.

This is a wonderfully witty story about a quirky goalie and a struggling single mom. They start off on the wrong foot, but by the end of the next day they have become friends with Jackson wanting to become more. This is a fast paced story that keeps you entertained. I really enjoyed reading this book and can’t wait to read the next addition.
