Dylan Wilcox has been gone from Highlight, Missouri for ten years. Nobody has seen him or even received an email as to his location. Worse, he left his high school girlfriend, Cherry Moss, without saying goodbye when he disappeared. When Dylan shows back up in town, clearly changed in the past ten years, Cherry needs to decide if his story is worth her forgiveness and if she can get over her own demons about him leaving.
Cherry Burn 4 stars Cherry and Dylan were high school sweethearts 10 years ago. Dylan did the unthinkable. He took Cherry’s virginity and then was abducted by aliens the next day! 10 years later he pops back up and wants to give Cherry an explanation. But a lot has happened to Cherry over these 10 years and she has become cold toward men. She has responsibilities and she doesn’t think Dylan deserves the time of day. Dylan has had enough and won’t take no for an answer. He finally gets to give his explanation. While it wasn’t as explosive as I thought it would be, it was different. Next comes the inner turmoil of these two before they can finally get through their own crap to realize they are in love. Their long lost love is super sweet and hawt! This was a great quickie read with some laughs, witty comments, sweet and swoony, with the mouth of a sailor… this is it!
I absolutely love when a short steamy romance can pack a punch like a full-length novel.
Cherry and Dylan dated for a year before Dylan disappeared from town without a trace. Ten years later and he is back in town to win back the girl he let go of all those year ago. Except Cherry isn't going to make it easy because letting someone have a part of you only to have them leave toss you away can shatter even the strongest of hearts.
I got way more out of this novella than I thought I would and that really makes me happy. Seeing Cherry vulnerable and the reasons why made Dylan realize that just because he did what he did for her doesn't mean it didn't hurt.
Piper's story is up next, and I am curious to see what that feisty girl has in store for the man who catches her eye.
4.75 ⭐️ This book exceeded all my expectations. This was such a fast read. It had drama, it had SPICEEEE 🌶️🌶️🌶️. This book is literally 50 pages and I grew so attached to the characters and couldn’t even put the book down. I finished this in one sitting. Ate this up from beginning to end. This book is definitely a page turner and I am literally running to read the second one…..
If you're after a short and steamy romance read then you need Tori Ross's books in your life. I am adoring reading her Travelling Calvert Sisters series and so knew that Cherry Burn, the first book in her Rocks series, would be a fab little read that would take less than an hour.
'Deep in the sticks of Missouri is a bar called Rocks where the bartenders are only similar in that they're unlucky in love...'
This story follows bartender Cherry, who's working one night when Dylan Wilcox walks in. He's the man she gave her heart and her innocence to ten years ago. Right before he disappeared off the face of the earth. Now he's back and wants to explain why he vanished.
Ross is such a brilliant storyteller. Her characters are so well drawn and her settings so evocative. Even though the world is very different to where I live, I totally bought into why Dylan left and why he felt he could now come back. Cherry Burn was a fabulous book and I absolutely loved it. I can't wait to read the rest of the series!
Cherry, the female lead, was abandoned by her long term boyfriend, Dylan, the day after they shared their virginities. It has stuck with her ever since. When Dylan, the male lead, returns to town years later, Cherry is once again struck by how much she hurt. But Dylan is desperate to reconnect and he reckons he has a good reason for his abandonment.
This short story is female lead POV, simply written, and not quite what I was hoping for. I’ve read the author’s Jensen City Heroes series and enjoyed that a lot but this just didn’t resonate anywhere near as well.

Dylan and Cherry were great together and when he got home after a momentous night with her, his religious fanatical parents ripped him and Cherry apart for what they did. He left for the military right then without saying goodbye and no contact since. The characters are terrific, with great backstories and intense feelings. The three bar friends were so close and gave her good advice. Loved their chemistry and their time starting over. Plenty of drama, crying, some scary men, lots of memories, steam and much more. The ending was so vivid and great. Amazing support.

This is the first in a new series about a bar called “Rocks” where the bartenders are all unlucky in love. Dylan and Cherry were dating in a high school when he disappeared without a word and there has been no trace of him since. Now 10-years later Dylan is back to win back Cherry, but she is not going to make things easy for him. This is a well written quick steamy read, with romance, emotions, drama, friendships, and love, which leads to an entertaining page turner. Dylan and Cherry come together after ten years apart. He left town without so much as a reason or goodbye. He has returned and wants to reconnect with Cherry, but do she take a chance on Dylan allowing them to rekindle their past. There are some intriguing backdrop stories with some of the other characters as well along with Dylan and Cherry. This book had me glued to the pages from start to finish.

An emotional yet sweet second chance romance, it was short, well-written and enjoyable. It tells what happens when Dylan returns after a ten-year absence and becomes determined to reconnect with Cherry. She for her part is torn and more cautious he broke her heart once and she's not going to let that happen a second time.
Young love, second chance story. Cherry and Dylan were high school sweethearts and each other’s first. Then that night Dylan disappears only to show up in town 10 years later and walks into the bar Cherry works in. Can Dylan make up for the humiliation he cause her after all this time?.

A long ago relationship of high school sweethearts that goes awry due to unforeseen complications causes heartache and mistrust in Cherry. Enjoyed the storyline with the twist and getting the full story as to why choices were made.

Sweet taste with a touch of spice. If you are looking for a well written, sweet-with-heat, second chance romance in under 50 pages, this is a good place to start. I’ve not come across this author before, and I was impressed with how much she was able to pack in. A well-rounded story, relatable characters, sugar and spice, and the title fits perfectly.
Short and sweet, Cherry and Dylan’s second chance romance was a delight to read. I really felt everything the characters felt - Dylan’s anguish, Cherry anger, their emotional reunion - it was both wonderful and entertaining.
A good short read. I don’t know that I would have forgiven him that fast, but at the same time eighteen year olds are still kids. I really wants some violence done to those truckers though.
Wow for a novella this book was so well detailed. Such a great quick steamy book that has an addictive plot. Can't wait to read the rest of the series.
This is a well written, sweet & steamy second chance, quick read. Given the length I wasn't expecting much but a lot happens and Cherry makes Dylan work for it. It's full of sass, humour & tenderness.

Thank you BookSprout and Tori Ross for an ARC copy of this book to review!
WHAT I LIKED: This was a short and sweet novel about a second chance romance. Cherry's high school sweetheart comes back after disappearing for ten years without a trace. Expecting some lame excuse from Dylan, Cherry doesn't want to give him the time of day to even explain. But she still has such strong feelings for him. This was an adorable storyline that had the perfect answers for every little detail.
WHAT I DIDN'T LIKE: I do find that Cherry forgave him too quickly, he should have had to prove that he actually came back for her and that he still loved her.
OVERALL / RECOMMENDATION: This was a good book if you are looking for a quick drama romance read with a happily ever after! I recommend it to book readers who enjoy romance reads.
I rate this 2.25 maybe 2.5 I enjoyed it overall it was a really quick read but low key wish there was a little more it was a bit short but still kinda cute
