Greg Kramer is one of my favorite authors. I started with his books years ago when he was on the TV show Forever Knight. His books all take place in Toronto and his characters have the names of intersections there. I started with Pursemonger of Fugu which I fell in love with, then read Couchwarmer when it came out and now Hogtown Bonbons which features characters from those books as well as some new ones. I forgot how amazingly crazy and weird and funny and poignant and all around wackadoodle his worlds are. THis book is a series of interconnected stories about various characters in the LGBTQ+ community, THere are lesbians dressed as Elvis, fetishists, slimy grunge kids and a whole lot of drugs and debauchery. I also have his book Wally which is a bit different than these. Haven’t read it yet. But I’m sad because thats it. Greg has passed away and his legacy is this amazing series of crazy books that will just make your head spin....
Told through six vignettes in the Toronto gay scene, there's plenty of characters in this book. In the end I didn't exactly keep straight (pun) who was who but I had so much fun I didn't care.
Lesbians sneaking into bathhouses, people strangled with feather boas, realistic, likeable characters, funny catch-phrases, the whole book was just a great, fun romp and I finished it in one sitting. Way to go, Kramer.
