This was a decent overview of nutrition and the role that food plays in our lives. It contains a good amount of information for a small book, but unfortunately some is dated. It includes the "tongue map" for taste buds, and uses the food pyramid with the high recommendation for grains. It also mentions how we shouldn't eat too much fat lest it turn to fat on our bodies, without mentioning that other energy sources can do the same thing.
Not terrible, but I'd prefer something more up to date at this point.
a few things in this book I don't believe in or I believe to be inaccurate to my beliefs. Like soy being a great source for protein. Soy is a hormone disrupter and is toxic to humans and should not be consumed. Also, the part about hens that says free range hens only lay 80 eggs a year, no that's just a different breed, different breeds lay different amount of eggs; some lay 3 eggs a week and some lay every day. I used to raise chickens.
Simple introduction to our food needs and how to make good choices. A little outdated in that it uses the food pyramid instead of my plate, but that is easily fixed with a quick website search.
