I thought this book would be of a certain type from the cover and it was. Nice (but extremely dim) girl overcomes adversity. It was a page turner but the message that women should look after their men to keep themselves safe seemed to be the theme - grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!

Really enjoyed this. Not as predictable as some of Kitty’s stories can be. Good storyline

I usually avoid these "sob story" type of books at all costs but having been given this by a well meaning friend, felt obliged to read it.
Although the story line was ok, the characters were all stereotyped either "bad" or sickly sweet, and the style of writing was so old fashioned!! I felt as though I was reading my Jackie mag from the 70's.
I won't be reading any others like this no matter how many I am given.

I struggled at the beginning. It made me feel uneasy at first not knowing where it was headed. I hadn't read anything about it before starting. I'm so glad I persevered. I enjoyed it. An easy book that flowed well. I'll certainly look out for more books by this author.

Jenny was a young girl who always felt shut out by her mother, she wasn’t popular and didn’t have much of a joyful childhood, she had a brother who she’s always adored but for reasons she never understood he hated her. Jenny one day takes the courage and moves on from the life that was bringing her sadness.

I had mixed feelings about this book throughout. At first I was reading it to pass time then suddenly I started to enjoy it. I liked that Jenny was starting to stand her ground and become her own person! It was sad to see that she had to figure out life so young but she was doing a decent job at it. The book does cover some sensitive topics but it does a good job at warning/hinting the reader.

I think why I got irritated with the book was that for a moment it felt like the story was just teasing for too long, you know when there’s some sort of secret or plot twist coming along but I felt that the author took too long to drop it, it got to a point I was over the hints and just wanted to find out. Then all of a sudden the book seemed completely rushed? To avoid spoilers I won’t say exactly when but it was to do with her husband and I just felt let down by the book! I felt like everything from there was just dragging on.

The story of her in Ireland was sweet but that also became quite underwhelming as I started to figure out what was going on but it wasn’t in an exciting way it was predictable where the story was going on and then the ending? Yeah that annoyed me so much, I felt like the book was being so slow at times to just end like that, barely an epilogue.

It had a lot of potential but I didn’t end up enjoying it, I was excited to move onto the next read but there was so enjoyable parts in the book and I hope someone enjoys it more than me xx

I fought the urge to DNF this book the entire way through. Proud of myself, but questioning whether it was worth it.

First off, Delia (the mother) is one of the worst POV’s I’ve ever read from. She is childish, manipulative, cruel, selfish, and I had zero sympathy or trust for her throughout this entire story. The first 100 pages are dreadful, all because of Delia. Most hated character so far in 2022.

The whole story felt distant and dated. The plot points were stale (running away, marrying a gang leader, finding a lost twin due to fate and dreams).
The main character- whose name I literally can’t remember- was such a plain, bland, female MC. She was totally reactive and hardly took any action.

To be fair, she is only a teenager throughout the book, but it’s not enough of an excuse.

Also, everything felt over explained. Every verb or line of dialogue was explained in simple terms right after, as if it wasn’t obvious already. Very annoying, the book probably could’ve been 350 pages rather than 500

This book was full of surprises! This girl that had been brought up by a mother that despised her but her father loved her, to then find out she was adopted. Then to get married to a man who had a successful business and get pregnant to find out he was actually a thief, when he died, and then lost her baby!

She goes to find her real mothers grave, who died giving birth to her, to be sent on a wild goose chase by her adoptive father. But she finds everything and more on her journey!

The ending is shockingly brilliant! What a book!
It’s not a popular book that everyone raves about but it is definitely one that deserves the recognition of an amazing read!

This book was a good story however I did find it a bit difficult to get into. I personally felt like the beginning was a bit slow however once it got going you could get into it. It definitely got “better” (probably not the best choice of words) towards the end. By the end of the book it became addictive and something I could’ve easily gotten into if the beginning weren’t so slow but otherwise it is an incredible book.

The first book I've read by her. I enjoyed it and didn't see the final twist coming at all, which was a nice surprise.

Not my mind of story

Once I start a book I always finish reading it. I think the story was overly long. Guess I prefer history based novels.

Good story but not written in a way that appealed to me. I did finish it, only because I wanted to find out what happened.

I really enjoyed reading this book, and found it was quite easy reading. However, some parts I felt were very drawn out and the ending was rushed.
