Part of the Bloodline Series: In Book One, we learn about the main character “Lieutenant Trufant,” as he solves a case that’s killing U.S. veterans on two dates a year in cities across America. But it leads to Book Two, where the focus shifts to “Leann and the Clean Man,” as she undergoes a life transforming trip to Asia that turns into the breakdown of a human sex trafficking ring.

In this Book Three, we’re reunited with an older and wiser Trufant. Now Captain Trufant, in “Broken” author Jeff Shaw delivers a page turning response that not only connects the first two books, but it also connects Trufant and LeAnn in a powerful way. Together, they uncover a drug cartel and drug trafficking ring that’s infiltrating fentanyl into current drug production in this country. Every bit of it is suspenseful capturing one more gripping scene after another. This book will cause you to sit on the edge of your seat and leads to countless hours of page turning. I found it hard to put down, and I’ve come to expect that of Jeff Shaw.

On a side note, I normally gravitate to historical fiction, or southern literature but Jeff Shaw’s books are so phenomenal that I rushed out to buy installments 2 and 3 of this series. If you like crime and suspense, check these out! You’ll be in for a bumpy ride.

Sad to see the Bloodline trilogy come to an end, but the 3rd book allows several characters a chance at redemption. As usual, Jeff Shaw starts his books with a bang right out of the gate & then weaves his story with twists & turns. Even Travis the dog had a story that we readers of the first two books were unaware of. "Leann" from the 2nd book (Leann & The Clean Man) is a very different "Leann" in this book --she kept me second guessing & wary of her every move. I thoroughly enjoyed all 3 books in this series & look forward to Jeff Shaw's upcoming literary offerings.

Shaw’s third book of the Bloodline series, “Broken,” does not disappoint. This storyline weaves fentanyl trafficking, official misconduct and corruption into a page-turning thriller with plenty of suspense and action. Broken reunites Lieutenant Trufant, Travis the Lab and LeAnn to navigate impossibly complex situations brimming with intrigue and some wild surprises. I thoroughly enjoyed Broken, it’s a great fast-paced and twisty read!

The series proved to be utterly engrossing, capturing my attention from the outset and refusing to let go. As I read the book on December 31, 2024, I became so invested in the narrative that I lost track of time, and it was the book, not the New Year's Eve celebrations, that kept me up late. I highly recommend immersing yourself in this series!
