Becoming a soldier for Rocco Vettore is the worst mistake I ever made. Since day one, his cold-hearted, overbearing demeanor has made my life a living hell. I’m his glorified errand boy, and the whole crew knows it.

He humiliates me—brings me to my knees—and I enjoy it. He illuminates a strange, twisted part of me I wish was still in the dark and makes me question everything I know about myself.

One day he takes his sick games too far. I snap, storming into his office to make him pay. But the secrets I find instead turn the tables.

I can ruin everything, take his entire empire and make him my bitch. But he won’t go down without a fight. As we battle for power, one of us will reign supreme.

I promise you this, Rocco…that someone won’t be you.

This is an M/M mafia romance.

The Taker is a spicy MM mafia romance between a psychopath mafia man and his new toy that sealed his fate when he jumped in front of a bullet for him. Rocco is a cold hearted killer that lives for himself until the sweet and unassuming young man who is raising his sisters comes into his life. He plans to take and take and will do whatever he needs to do to make Leo his.

“Because whether Leo likes it or not, the day he took that bullet for me, he became mine.”

Leo is completely unprepared for everything Rocco. This man bulldozes into his life and he feels a mixture of straight lust and complete disdain for the heavy handed man.

“Rocco has always been handsome, the kind of man that turns heads and commands attention. But when he’s holding back whatever demon lives inside him… He’s a living, breathing wet nightmare right out of my darkest fantasies—the kind I’d never admit having to another living soul.”

With no other options, Leo enters into an agreement with Rocco and he isn’t sure if he is getting everything he’s ever wanted or everything he’s been trying to run from.

“You’re mine, Leo. My toy to use however and whenever I see fit. I’ll gut any man who touches you like a fucking fish, and make you watch them die this time.”

As time passes and danger ensues, these two grow closer in ways neither ever expected.

“You’re right. Dating isn’t the right word, but it’s a word they can understand. The truth is, you’re mine, Leo. Today, tomorrow, next year, a decade from now. You’ll still be mine when someone finally does sink a bullet into me, and I get lowered into the ground. Or if I beat the odds, we’ll grow old together and retire in some mansion off the Hudson.”

There are several twists and action moments in this story and I really enjoyed those elements. There was quite a bit of detailed violence but if you’re a reader of dark romance, it shouldn’t bother you all too much. The story focused mainly on their Dom/sub relationship and I loved getting to see their progression from indifference and anger to loving obsession and passion.

Rocco was a bit hard to like at the beginning because he was so cold and went after what he wanted with single minded focus despite the damage he left in his wake. But the more you got to know his character and saw how he fell for Leo, the more I loved who and what he was. His world is violent, bloody and brutal and his personality had to match that to survive. So I get it. But Leo was his light in the darkness. Leo was kind and loving but fierce when he needed to be. He was a perfect foil to Rocco and ultimately these two were just undeniably sexy and sweet.

“I’m obsessed with you—mind, body, and soul. You’re mine, Leonardo Costa. The girls and us, we’re a family I’ll protect with my life as many times as it takes. The thought of a life without you drives me insane.”

Overall, a really great short MM dark romance read. I’ll definitely be looking out for more books from this author.

I get why people might love this book, but it wasn't for me. I really liked the obsessed mobster and sassy chef pairing but the tstl moment wasn't my favourite. It's got some hot intimacy and some cute sweet moments, but somehow it wasn't my fav. I'm sure many people will enjoy it :)

3.75 stars

Leo is 23 years old. His father worked for the mafia. He was killed when Leo was 18 years old, and Leo's mom was a drug addict and abandoned the family after her husband's death. Leo was left to raise his two little sisters. He's been struggling but he's made it work, with some assistance from the mafia because they've helped him out because of his dad. He works as a chef. And one day Rocco, 34, a capo of that Mafia family is eating at his restaurant and someone pulls a gun on Rocco. Leo without even thinking tries to save Rocco, and jumped in front of the bullet himself and got grazed by the bullet.

Rocco looks at Leo and is instantly fascinated and wants to own Leo, he wants him as his toy, he is a sadist and he wants to play Leo like a fiddle. He gets Leo fired and forces him to move in to his building and work for him and be his play thing. Leo hates him at first, but can't help being attracted. Their needs and wants mesh really well. They start to feel more than just sex for each other, but things are complicated when Leo and his sisters are in danger because of Rocco.

This was an enjoyable little story. I do like a possessive MMC. They were a fun vibe. Leo stood up for himself and sassed back. I liked seeing both Leo and Rocco's interactions with the sisters. I liked the humour. The epilogue was nice to see, very in character "proposal". Lol

There were a bunch of typos though. A little awkward for example when Rocco was choking Leo with his dick, saying he was "cutting off his hair" lol, AIR!

Some notable moments:

"“Get up,” I snap. “Put my clothes back on.” He languidly rolls over and pulls my clothes back on. When I see the wet stain on my boxers again and how puffy Leo’s lips look, I sigh. I don’t want the guards seeing him like this, or my driver. I see the bite mark I left on his neck and a surge of possessiveness rolls through me. He’s mine."

"I jump up, catching my reflection in the stainless steel fridge. My ass is red, with finger indents where he spread me open for his personal consumption. My lips look as puffy as they feel. The one thing glaringly missing from my reflection is my self worth, which I threw in the garbage the moment I dropped to my knees and pleaded for his cock."

This big scary man cooing over Rocco having a sweetie is funny. "“Gentlemen, this is Leo Costa.” he tucks me into his side, a clear sign of ownership in front of the other men in the room. “You’re Mr. Vettore’s lion cub?!” Elio coos in a soft-spoken voice that definitely doesn’t match his hard, tattooed exterior. His almost goofy smile is so out of place given what we’re about to do to the men dangling next to us."

*FYI about steam: I rate steam based on a combination of quality & quantity. I note kink separate from steam because I don't want to underrate steamy reads that don't have much kink.

**Note about spoilers: I like to comment on the plot of a book in reviews, so I almost always mark my reviews as containing spoilers. But I try to avoid spoiling the big dramatic moments! As a reader, I personally like to know what I'm getting into before I read a book so I know more about the content and if it's to my taste/mood, so I try to give that information in my reviews for myself when I'm considering rereading and also for other readers.

Okay so I really enjoyed this book. I went in blind as far as safety goes because not everyone puts that in their review. I got stung a little because it’s not 100% safe.

So we have Leo who is a 23 year old chef who takes care of his two younger sisters because his parents are no longer around. He catches the attention of a capo, Rocco, because he decided it would be a good idea to jump in front of a bullet for Rocco.

So Rocco, being the psychopath that he is, decides oh this man wants to save my life? Then he’s mine now. There was literally no escaping Rocco after that.

Rocco offers Leo a job in his crew and Leo’s like thanks but no thanks and Rocco wasn’t having that so he’s like asking was just a courtesy, you will work for me and I’ll make it happen. So what does he do? He gets Leo fired from his job and gets him evicted from his apartment making it so Leo HAS to go work for him in order to live.

Leo is so mad he goes out to blow off some steam with his bestie and this is where the not 100% safe comes in. Leo goes into the hall and starts hooking up with some guy. Like he’s real close to doing the full deed but he gets stopped by Rocco because duh he belongs to Rocco and nobody but Rocco touches him. You’re not Rocco? You touch him and die, literally. This is the only OP drama throughout the whole book though and it’s at the beginning before they get together.

Rocco was hard to like at the very beginning but then you see just how obsessed he is with Leo. Omg this man is soo obsessed. He can’t go 5 minutes without watching the video feed on his phone of Leo. He constantly calls his men to give him updates on Leo. And he doesn’t just want to protect Leo but his sisters too. Rocco ends up being so sweet! I really liked him. If I didn’t like him as much I would say Leo had BBS.

Leo does have a pain and degradation kink though. They have somewhat of a D/s relationship though it isn’t overwhelming.

So the fact that it wasn’t 100% safe took a star off and the ending was very rushed. The conflict happened with like 15 minutes left in the book and it wrapped up way too quickly. I also needed Julia to apologize because she was such a bitch and I was mad we didn’t get that. Also it’s a very happy for now as “I’m falling in love with you” is said at the end of the book.

But I am very much interested in the rest of the series. I’m guessing Sammy’s book is next.

★★★★★. roccoleo have me consumed forever. Leo saves Rocco once and immediately becomes his obsession. I loved them. I loved how Rocco knew what Leo liked without even trying honestly. The OM scene kinda ate because of the jealousy and how he ended up. Rocco being the absolute sweetest with Lucy yet also not allowing Julia to be mean to Leo and still caring. A MAN FOR HIS MAN!

I loved how it was “I’m falling in love” and not “i love you” because it showed how their relationship is moving forward.

For my safety gang, not safe. There’s a scene with Leo and OM. It’s pretty detailed but it doesn’t go all the way. It was before Rocco and Leo got together or at least until Leo allowed himself to like Rocco. It’s the only scene and Rocco handles him and Leo for it.

Boy, he blackmailed you and forced you, k!ll in front of you and you think with your hole.
This was a solid and hot read but Leo was dumb and spineless. 🫠 Never mind, I’ve had fun and recommend for a quick, really hot mafia read. Mae certainly has a talent and I wish her the best!
Also, the synopsis is wrong. He was not his soldier, this twink cooked for him twice, the rest of his “work” was on his knees. 😄

I liked it. The spice and romance was amazing. Though I thought that book might end on a cliff-hanger. Thank god, it didn't end on a cliff-hanger.

What happens when you save a mafia man? What happens when he offers your an opportunity but you decline it? The Taker- Mae Malone/M.Bonnet
*I received an ARC copy of this book and this is my honest review*

This book had everything that I look for when reading a mafia romance. Leo and Rocco were absolute perfection! The chemistry was off the charts. What does one do when they save the life of a capo? Why become his personal t0y of course! Once I started this book, I absolutely could not put this down. I was captivated from the first page. All though this book was a novella, it didn’t feel like it was. The plot and storyline kept me engaged and interested. And I just couldn’t help but fall in love with both of these men! Grab a copy of The Taker! I promise you won’t regret the wild ride that this capo and his lionheart take you on!

“I didn’t get to taste your tears the last time you cried for me, toy. They’re delicious. Addictive.” His hands knead my ass, and I gasp as a throbbing sensation radiates through me. “Now I want to taste more of you.”

“Do you know what happens when you bang on the bars of the monster’s cage, toy?” He swallows, his Adam's apple bobbing in his throat. His eyes go wide, and I can feel the anticipation crackling through him like electricity. “What?” he hesitantly asks. “He breaks free.”

Who doesn’t love a dark obsessive mafia man that is willing to do whatever it takes to take and keep his toy by his side?!

I know I did cause it was absolutely gorgeous knowing Leo needed to have his freedom from the weights sitting on his shoulders and rocco did not disappoint.

This was absolute fire and such a great MM… it was hot and smexy with all the depraved possession you need to be hot and bothered 😉

This is so good! It is one of those rare stories where thr bad guy doesn't go soft for the good one, keeps it real until the end. The loving alphahole vibe is very strong in this one, but I totally side with Leo on his choices as I also love Rocco here.
Over the top possesive, touch him and die, mafia vibes, so if that's for you, dive into it. Loved every second of it!

4/5 stars 3/5 spicy
- Mafia
- Age gap
- Degradation
- Stalker
- ‘Mine’

I know that Rocco is walking red flag just like Leo does but damn is he loveable. I was a puddle each time he got jealous and territorial. I really don’t blame Leo for agreeing to be his toy, I would have done the same thing if I had the degradation, pain and praise kink. That man could punish me, edge me, call me names and use me all he wants. It was super hot and made their connection all the more intense.

I also loved how Leo brought out a softer side to Rocco where he enjoyed cuddling, protecting Leo’s sisters and was being playful. It showed off more of his human side than the monster he mainly is.

Leo is the opposite to Rocco, he’s a sweet guy doing whatever he can to support and look after his sisters. He does have a dark side to him that comes out later on in the story. He can be a brat at times but it’s one of the things that Rocco loves about him. They have a great back and forth which usually ends with Leo’s backside turning red.

This was such a fast and enjoyable read. I think anyone who loves the tropes listed above would really enjoy reading this.

You can read my novella review of The Taker on my blog, here: https://thepaperworlds.blogspot.com/2....

This is a spoiler-free review! Please read trigger warnings - reader discretion is advised. A list of trigger warnings is available at the beginning of the novella.

After literally throwing himself in front of notorious mafia killer, Leo finds himself at Rocco's every beck and call. In order to continue to provide for his younger sisters, he is forced to take a job being Rocco's personal employee. I really enjoyed how we jumped right into the story - since this is a novella, I was hoping that there would not be too many chapters focusing on random things, and I was pleased to see that the author sends us right into the story with enough background information that sets the stage.

Leo goes through a number of conflicting feelings throughout this story, and the introduction of Rocco into his life as he takes care of his sisters has a number of effects on his safety and anxieties. We really take a deeper look into his psyche and how his mental health is affected by being thrust into life with a mafia man while trying to maintain a balance with normalcy surrounding his sisters. Essentially becoming Rocco's possession, Leo is exposed to so much more than he could have imagined - even with his father being involved in the past, Leo was never this close to the action.

Rocco becomes completely enamored with Leo when he does something drastic - and brave - without thinking. Once he set his sights on Leo, there was no way that Leo was going to escape him. With dual perspective chapters, it was a great way to see into Rocco's mind and his "psychotic" tendencies as he did everything in his power to have Leo all to himself. He basically sabotages everything in Leo's life in order to get him to do what he wants, and while that is a major red flag in real life, this is a dark mafia romance, and I would not expect anything else.

This novella is a piece of cake to read - if you are a quick reader like myself, this can easily be tackled in an hour or so. Once you pick it up, the pacing moves fast enough that you can finish it in one sitting, or take a quick break before continuing on. In all honestly, I would read this as a full-length book, since the characters are so intriguing, and I would love to see more of them in the future. From my understanding, this is the first in a series of interconnected standalone novellas, so I certainly will be waiting for the second installment.

I loved this one, such a shame it was only a novella, I would have loved it to have been a full novel. The story was entertaining and kept me totally engaged throughout and the characters were brilliant. I would love to hear more from a few of the side characters, as their whole dynamics was intriguing, especially brothers Piero, Elio & Milo.

I absolutely loved Rocco & Leo’s whole relationship, from Rocco pøssëssive and øbsëssed, dømínant nature to Leo’s takes no șhít, bratty but sūbmíssive nature, it was all brilliant.

Leo is working hand to mouth, treading water to keep himself and his two sisters safe and together. Their made man father díed and their mother just walked out one day and never came back. Thanks to the Don, (who looks after the families of his men, dëad or alive) Leo is a chef at an elite restaurant for the Mäfía, regardless of not finishing culinary school. When out on the floor speaking to a customer he sees a man draw a gūn at Rocco. Without thinking of his actions Leo jumps at the man, deflecting the shøt but getting a būllet graze for his actions.
This selfless brave action puts him in Rocco’s sights and changes his life forever.

Rocco, the Cäpo to Don Vettore, is at the restaurant to buy a warehouse from a rival gäng. That is until the leader pulls a gūn on Rocco and an unassuming man in a chefs uniform saves his life. When Rocco looks into Leo’s tear stained eyes his øbsëssion with Leo takes hold.
At first Rocco gives Leo a choice to work for him, but when he turns him down because he doesn’t want to be brought back into a made man’s life, Rocco sets about mǎnípulating his life and førcing Leo’s hand.

When Rocco gets his way with Leo, their push & pull relationships begins. Rocco’s pøssëssíveness just gets stronger and stronger, but also a softer sweet side starts to appear for Leo and his sisters. Leo protests Rocco’s būlly, dømínant nature at first, but soon falls for him, cräving their connection more and more.

Their relationship is tested though when the enëmy advances, putting their growing family dynamics in dängër.

[I received an advanced copy of this book. All reviews and ratings are my own.]

When one saves the life of a capo, there's a hope that maybe the capo will say thank you. Maybe give a monetary reward that will help a struggling man who is raising his two sisters. That would have been nice. Instead, Rocco Vettore shows his appreciation by ruining Leo Costa's life so that he can take it over and completely own him.

Leo's father was part of the Vettore crew and was killed years ago, his mother abandoned him and his sisters, and Leo has sworn he will never get involved with the family in any way. Too bad he doesn't have a choice anymore. Rocco is obsessed, and what Rocco wants, he gets.

So, Leo becomes Rocco's toy - Rocco controls everything from where Leo and his sisters live, to where they go to school, to where Leo works. Leo hates him. Hates being forced into indentured servitude and forced into a sexual relationship with a capo from the family that got his father killed. He chafes under the constant monitoring and being kept under lock and key but, it turns out he doesn't really hate it at all.

Leo's submission is hard won but it's given freely, even if he doesn't understand why at first. But it's clear that, with everything he has to handle, the relief he gets from letting someone else take charge is much needed. Even if he hates himself for it a little bit at first. Still, as much as he resists, he can't help but develop feelings for the psychotic capo who has upended his life. But this isn't the life he wanted for himself, or his sisters, and there's a sense through most of the book that he would absolutely take a chance to escape if he could.

But when a Vettore family rival threatens Leo and his sisters are threatened, the extent of Rocco's obsession becomes clear and ... it turns out Leo doesn't hate it.

This story is full of violence, spice, gore and obsession. The speed at which this book put me in a chokehold is alarming, but I am HERE for it. Deceptively sweet, and entirely too short, I would love to see more of Rocco and Leo. I hope the author either includes them in future books or expands on this one.

Psychopathic Mafia Capo? ☑️
Adorable, slightly innocent Chef? ☑️
Off the charts spice that you honestly want more of, filled with delicious k!nks, including praise, degradation, pain and biting? ☑️

This was a whirlwind of story to read, thrown into the action from the very start. I love that Malone has managed to pack so much into a 170-page long novella. It truly stands as it's own story, and whilst there are moments where you could expand things, you certainly are not missing anything by having it move as quickly as it does.

I was obsessed with Leo's innocence and his want to save Rocco from the start, and even more obsessed with unhinged, psychopathic Rocco, and his own obsession with his Lionheart - also, can we take a moment to appreciate that nickname?

I really loved how at the heart of this story, it was about Leo and his love for his sisters. It was about family. And that translated away from Leo, Julie and Lucy and into the Mafia family almost seamlessly. The action of the book works well and keeps you hooked, and I loved reading as Leo fought with himself as to whether or not to trust Rocco; whether or not to let himself fall in love with him.

I really enjoyed the wider cast of characters, and am hopeful to see some of them get their own novella down the track; especially seeing the cute friendly dynamic between Maddi and Lucy.

A great, quick read, and I'm excited for more stories in this series to come.

Thank you to the author for the eARC opportunity. These are my honest thoughts that I have provided voluntarily.

DNF page 84/174.

“Swing batter batter!” I shout as I clobber Greg right on his broken ribs.
^ Page 84.

^^ You're honestly telling me a 34 year old, mafia man who's tough shit and all that is talking like this? Yeah... No.

Leo is working as a chef in a restaurant, trying to support himself and his two younger sisters as his mother took off and their father is dead. A customer asks the chef to come out to give compliments and he notices a guy pull a gun out on Rocco so he takes the bullet instead and passes out.

Rocco asks him to dinner once he's recovered so Leo shows up confused but going along with it, only for Rocco to innocently ask him to be his sex toy. Obviously, Leo says no - can't say I blame him.

What does Rocco do? He makes Enzo fire Leo from cooking. He evicts Leo and his sisters, making them almost homeless. Then he kidnaps Leo from a nightclub after shooting the stranger (in front of Leo) that Leo was almost having sex with. Makes Leo beg him for the sex toy job role, forces him to suck his dick and this just continues.

I'm sorry but wtf was this?! No thanks 🫶🏻

The cringey writing style didn't help either! Lucy (10 year old sister) is obsessed with unicorns and bright pink - but the way the book describes her makes her sound like she's 5 or something. Julia (16 year old sister) likes blaring loud music and it's described as "emo this", "emo that", "hope she passes this phase" - stfu.

All I wanted was a dark romance novella I could read after a long day at college and battling a migraine. Not whatever the fuck this was.

First, you meet Leo who is trying to take care of his two little sisters while working at a kitchen that he is lucky to hvaee a job at because he doesn't have a culinary degree but the guy that owns the kitchen considers him family because of the work his father did for this man.

Second you meet Rocco who's now in charge of the family and he's going through everything to figure out what he needs to get rid of and change.

What causes these two of these men to meet is what creates the essence of the story to this book. It is a rollercoaster of a gay romance that I truly enjoy. It is a dark romance that I didn't expect to take the direction that it did. I felt for Leo and the complications in his life that he was dealing with while trying to just push past the stress in order to keep his family together. I feel for Rocco's need to find a way to get things straight, organized, and fair while at the same time worrying about watching everybody's back that he considers to be family.

These two men are cut from the same cloth but put in different situations and it is very fun to see how Mae brings these two together within the story to then make it where you would never want them to be in a different situation.

This book has Forced sexual encounters, Kidnapping, Death, death threats, torture, Knives, guns, bargaining, sex slave, and gang details. Please keep this in mind when adding this book and eventually series to your TBR.

It's a bit weird, but the blurb doesn't fit the story. It made it sound like Leo would find leverage on Rocco, threaten and play mind games with him, but that absolutely never happens. I guess that, in a way, Leo did win because Rocco fell for him, but the blurb definitely makes Leo seem stronger than he is.

I actually did like Rocco a lot. He's unhinged and has no issue doing whatever he has to do to get what he wants. Once he started falling for Leo, he still didn't stop being evil, which I appreciated. He just became softer toward Leo and his sisters. By the way, I'm glad he never hesitated to put Julia in her place and call her out on her behavior. Her teenage hormones were messing her brain up, and instead of feeling grateful that Leo did everything to give them a better life, she bitched constantly at him.

The whole drama near the end was honestly predictable and stupid. I liked Leo because he was interesting. He was both innocent and depraved, a perfect match for Rocco. But

The ending felt too rushed, but the story in itself is enjoyable. I wanted a quick, dark read, and it worked for me. 🤷‍♀️

This book is FULL of obsession, possessive domination, violence, scorching hot spice between the two main characters, and the level of suspense kept me holding my breath more than once. Once I started reading I could not stop.

Leo should have known better than to save Rocco’s life. When he saw all that money in his account, he should have got new identities for himself and his sisters, packed up and the three of them disappeared. At his core though, Leo his a submissive, he just didn’t realize what that truly meant until Rocco.

Rocco, well he has almost zero redeeming qualities, his love/loyalty/protection of his family, which includes Leo and his sisters, is about it. (okay, he’s sexy as sin, and a super-hot dominant, so sign me up). But he’s a Vettore Capo, and it is his job to ‘fix’ things in a permanent manner. When Leo saves him, Rocco becomes obsessed, and decides then and there that Leo is his, forever.

Everything that follows, is a result of those two choices. Leo’s choice to save Rocco. Rocco’s choice to claim Leo. And can I just say, WOW Mae Malone absolutely takes two simple premises and absolutely knocked it out of the park. Her world building and characters are stellar. I can only hope we get more of Leo and Rocco in another book.

Leo and Rocco I made for each other. They are both twisted in their own ways. I like that both of them are obsessed with each other. they’re also very protective of one another and their families. I like Leo’s character because we provide for his family after what is mother did. He takes amazing care of his family and he will do anything for them. Leo’s character has grown so much. From the way he stood up for himself. Also, how he allowed other people in. I love the fact that Leo supports and excepts Rocco for who he is. Rocco is a monster in his own right. He only has a soft spot for his family and Leo’s. I like that he is possessive with Leo. And the fact that he will do anything he can to just to have Leo. I also like that he allowed himself to open up and show his true self to Leo. The both together make an amazing couple. They do you have a big problem. They do resolve it towards the end. And that problem bring them closer together to the point where they would go insane without one another. And they do you have amazing chemistry from the spice to the communication. I also like the side characters because they are very supportive of their relationship.

This captivating M/M mafia romance delves into a world of forbidden desires and power struggles. The story follows two men entangled in a dangerous game of cat and mouse, where the lines between love and submission blur. As they navigate the treacherous underworld of organized crime, they must confront their deepest fears and desires. The passionate and intense connection between them is undeniable, but the consequences of their actions could be deadly.

With a dark and twisted plot, this book explores themes of loyalty, betrayal, and the corrupting influence of power. The characters are complex and morally gray, making them all the more compelling. Readers will be drawn into their world of secrets and lies, where danger lurks around every corner. The gripping narrative is filled with suspense, action, and unexpected twists that will keep readers on the edge of their seats.

This book is perfect for fans of dark romance, mafia stories, and LGBTQ+ fiction. The explicit content and mature themes make it suitable for adult readers only.

God, do I freaking loveeeeeee an unhinged morally gray, possessive, obsessive fictional man? YES I DO, and that is EXACTLY what Rocco is. Leo barely even knows Rocco but when things went down, he took a bullet for him and OF COURSEEEEEEE that set Rocco off on a “you are fucking mine” prowl. The things he does to force Leo’s hand is just.. lmao I love it. I was seriously reading the book and my jaw dropped like OMG NO HE DID NOT... And yes, yes he did. 🤣 I really really enjoyed the plot and the relationship between the two. It just worked for them. Leo is the absolute sweetest little baker, chef and provider for his sisters and he would do ANYTHING for them, which also makes Rocco absolutely protective over them all. The HEA is so hilariously perfect and I love how much they become a family. 🥹 I CANNOT wait for the next book. If you enjoy mafia MM romance and need a quick read? This book is for sure for you!

Don't you just love a book that hooks you from the very beginning? I didn't want to put this down. This is a mafia romance at its finest, and I loved it. The obsession and possessiveness that Rocco showed was spot on. Plus, Leo trying so hard not to give in to his desires, added a little flare to the plot.

I do wish their realization that they love the other was a bit more of a wow moment instead of something that seemed glossed over. There wasn't an epiphany moment, and I feel like it lacked a spark in that area. Granted, Rocco is a cold-hearted criminal, so maybe that was the point.

I do love that plot twist, though! I thought for sure that was it. No one was surviving. But that twist was really good.

I just want more from these characters. I don't feel like 1 book will ever be enough.

This is definitely a book i recommend if you love MM and Mafia tropes. This is one I'd definitely read again.

** I want him to be as addicted to me as I am to him—for me to be his faith and the air he breathes.**

What would you do if the Mafia Don’s Nephew decided you were his? And would stop at nothing to make you his very own toy? What if he told you were his forever? Take a dive into Leo’s story to see how he reacted😈
Rocco is one unhinged mafiso man. He’s absolutely crazy. The definition of morally grey and a walking red flag which means I am obviously in love with him and all those red flags look green to me🤷‍♀️ Rocco becomes possessively obsessed with Leo after he takes a bullet for him- which okay fair like you saved my life obviously you’re mine now🥹🥰. Leo tries to resist but honestly anyone would be helpless against Rocco’s brand of crazy. I loved this book so very much. It was very fast paced and had me HOOKED from the first chapter. I can’t wait for the next book😍😍

For a novella, this story had a lot packed into it. I really enjoyed Rocco and Leo's dynamic together. They were complete opposites of one another but I think that made it all the better. They each brought out different sides to each other that they normally wouldn't show to anyone else. Rocco was softer with Leo, more emotional, and over the top protective as well. On the other hand with Rocco, Leo was allowed to bring out his darker side at times without feeling bad about it and fully immerse himself in his desires.
I think novellas for the other characters introduced in this book would be amazing as well. They all seemed to have such memorable personalities and I would love to read their stories, especially for the Romano brothers, Maximo, and Maddie. I bet their day-to-day lives are chaotic in such a good way, perfect for their own stories.

I just finished reading this book by Mae Malone and let me say it is so good! I love reading books about the Mafia and their dangerous and sexy men! This is a dark M/M Mafia romance. This is the second time I have read an M/M romance and I am really starting to enjoy these types of books. I was very leery of reading M/M because I was not sure I would enjoy it. But, boy was I proven wrong! Especially when the book includes a morally gray, unhinged, obsessive, “touch him and die” character. I loved watching the dynamics and the relationship between the MMCs develop. If you are looking for a hot, steamy book, this is definitely it!
Thank you, Mae Malone, for such a wonderful and steamy read! The smexy scenes were so hot, they gave me hot flashes! I need more Mae Malone books pronto!!
