Alright, buckle up because this series is like a road trip with your favorite chaotic friend: a little wild, a bit unpredictable, but man, did we have some fun!
The adventures? Oh, you better believe there are adventures. This series doesn’t ease you in; it tosses you right into the deep end like, “Hope you can swim!” I was dragged through so many twists and turns, I felt like I needed a map. But honestly, the chaos was part of the charm. I had no idea what was coming next, and it kept me flipping pages late into the night like, “Just one more chapter…” 10 chapters later, I’m still going.
As for the ending—look, endings are tough. You can either tie things up neatly or leave a trail of “what the heck just happened?” crumbs for readers to follow. This one? It nailed the landing. Well, mostly. Maybe it tripped a little but recovered with a dramatic flourish, leaving me clapping, if not fully standing. It gave me closure, but not in a "here's a bow, everything's perfect" kind of way. More like, "Things are good... for now. But keep an eye out." Love it when they leave you wondering.
I won’t lie, there were moments where I was like, “Are we seriously doing this?” Some plot points had me scratching my head like a confused dog, but then something awesome would happen, and I’d forgive the book immediately. Like a fun rollercoaster that shakes you up but leaves you grinning by the end.
So, 3.75 stars because it’s not perfect, but it’s a ride you’ll be glad you took. Go on, read it. You’ll laugh, you’ll cry, you’ll roll your eyes, and you’ll have
I’ve enjoyed Ms. Maven’s books for a while and this fits the formula but the lack of proofreading is so bad in this one. Took me out of it and I never fully recovered.

Crying Wolf de Ella Maven serie The queen’s Beasts libro 3
Argumento:
Lorna
Another sweet and low angst addition to the Drixonian world!
Whitten (H) isn’t used to field missions, his comfort zone is behind his technology, but when duty calls and be finds a human woman in danger, he springs into action. Lorna (h) is in deep trouble, she ends up in the middle of a death match between human women and weird alien beetles, then promptly finds herself knocked out cold. When these two come together, they have to fight for survival and their chance at love.
This was a cute, quick read that kept me engaged throughout. Some of the plot points felt unfinished, but maybe those will come up in later books. As often is the case with this author, there were some grammatical and writing errors, for example the use of the wrong characters names in key sentences (e.g. she wrote the wrong woman’s name in a sentence pronouncing a pregnancy and this created some confusion for me). However, I didn’t find my enjoyment too impeded by these mistakes. Ultimately, I read these books for pure, sweet and smutty escapism and that’s exactly what I got.
Safety: H is a virgin. h is not a virgin. No ow or om drama.
Look, all of Mavens books have syntax and grammatical errors but this one took it to a new level. I actually had trouble understanding what she meant in a couple of places. That’s a new low. Also. The Loppies were so cringy and the whole conflict of the book (that Whittin didn’t tell his family about the fate of the drixonians on Corin) was so manufactured. Why would anyone care? They didn’t need to know and now they do. It’s not like it was a secret or he was withholding information that would impact them. This drama over something so benign was annoying.
Overall it was cringy and awkward with a boring plot and terrible grammar issues. And the smut wasn’t good.
Monster (wolf alien hybrid). Virgin MMC. Curvy FMC. Alien abduction. Rut. Heat. Knot (and I assume knotting but it wasn’t ever fucking described). Bondage. Fated mates (Cora eternal). Feeling each others emotions. Months of sun then darkness for a month with monsters. Blah.

Great Series, Wonderful Story, Some Grammatical/Storyline Issues
I love this series and this “story” deserves 5 stars. Unfortunately, there are so many grammatical and plot line errors in this book to not require commentary. I do feel that this issue is uncharacteristic of the author. I suspect it, has more to do with rushing deadlines for the series. Or hopefully something along those lines. I would rather wait a few more weeks for a well written and properly edited book. I hope this version is updated for ebook users in future as the story definitely takes a hit in quality and flow as it is right now.
Rating: 4.5/5 🌟 Spice: 2.5/5 🌶️ Characters: Lorna and Whitten
I love this world so much. Each new release feels like a warm hug to me. You know what you're getting every single time...swoony innocent hero, action, human woman learning how strong she really is, and absolutely adorable side characters that help our main couple escape the threat/bad guys and get home. It is everything I want, and I love that I know what I am getting every single time. It's comfort and a shot of serotonin.
If you have enjoyed or loved any of Ella's other books, then you'll love this one as well.
Another exciting story in the Queen’s Beast series. Hybrid Drixionians, saved by their father and the woman tasked with raising them, Whitten is part wolf and Drix. During a scouting mission he saves Lorna, a human abductee and is captured by a brutal race intent on creating human drix hybrids. After escaping the pair are recaptured by new enemies and saved by new friends. It was a story full of action and peril as the two fall in love and try to save each other. I loved it!
I find her stories to be decent, but the number of mistaken words is rough. Just a few simple examples are hair instead of air, grain instead of groan, and and instead of an. Another really biggie Lynix announces Kini is pregnant, but it's his mate Yanna. At least one hopes it's incorrect because in the next few sentences Kini is drinking an alcoholic beverage. Overall if you can look past the incorrect wording, it's worth reading for some short fun.
I wish I had the words. For someone who claims to be a USA Today best selling author you couldn’t tell if by several glaring editing errors while reading. And if you are paying an editor, fire them because they missed glaringly obvious mistakes.
Whitten and Lorna's story is full of action and adventure. I loved the "Loppies" saving them from disaster. I am now wondering how this will all tie in with the other Drix Survivors
Lorna was a captive of some nasty aliens. Whitten found her left for dead. But it was a ruse, and both were captured. They escaped but were captured by some different bad aliens. They were rescued again. What a mess. Enjoy
To this series. Love the adventures and ending. Do want is way for them to speak to those on their father’s planet. Possible them building space ship or meeting someone that trades with them. So they can get help rescuing humans and getting rid of the kidnappers
This was ok, not as good as her other series, just not as well written or imaginative. Honestly, whitten was a bit incompetent a couple of times and that annoyed me. Maybe I'm getting old lol.
The falling in love (but not insta) was the easy part; staying alive and free was a struggle. Lorna was not my fave character (that was the Loppies) but she was still well written, as was Witten. I hope we see the warrior lady again in the next book.
The plot went as expected for this series. Enjoyable. But the numerous easy to fix errors throughout began to detract from the read-qbility. Even a layman editor's eyes before publishing would probably catch these...
Some forward movement in the overall plot, but I feel like this needed another pass from a copy editor. Wrong word choices, duplication, and wrong name use occurred more and more frequently the closer to the end you got.
3.5 rounded up Ella Maven is an insta-read for me. She is one of my go-to alien romance authors. I have enjoyed getting to know all the brothers, and Whitten is no exception. I'm looking forward to the rest of the series! (P.S. Maven needs a new editor STAT) ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ HEA? yes 3rd act break-up? no 🌶🌶🌶/5
I’ve enjoyed reading this spinoff. The whole series is good and solid on all fronts. No annoying main characters and you always meet interesting aliens on the journey.
I agree with previous reviews. It looks like the book was written and never proofread. This has been my favorite in this series, but definitely a recycled plot formula for these books.
