A satisfying sequel

After reading the first book in this series I became enraptured with the characters and had to find out what happened and became of them. Book 2 was splendid and a quick read! The author doesn't bother with long descriptions or unnecessary details. It's clear and concise, straight to the point and craftly written! I could not put this down.

Emily Brown and Lavinia Thomas were minor characters in the first but in this one, you get to know their personalities and lives deeper. I found myself rooting for a good outcome for everyone here. Elizabeth Bertram is truly a bloody villain and stops at nothing to right what she believes has wronged her. I enjoyed her character though and couldn't help but wish for her demise. I laughed, I was on edge and I cried at the ending a bit.

It's very predictable and you get an idea of what's to come. I'm hoping to read more by this author as I love historical fiction and learning more about 19th century England. I definitely think anyone who is looking for something quick to go through will enjoy this. I wonder if they'll be a 3rd?

A refreshing read

Not a book in which the outcome was obvious from the beginning as too often happens. Yes, the book ended as I would have liked, but it took a lot of interesting twists and turns along the way to keep my interest piqued. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and its prequel.

The author takes you on a tale of intrigue and murder that revolves around a corset factory. Old hurts and a will that was unacceptable to some. It keeps you turning pages to read what happens next. I enjoyed meeting old characters and the new !

More murder and intrigued in the corset factory. Not as well written as the first in the series, but satisfying conclusion.

Ok, but...

The storyline was quite good but the plot was too easy to figure out towards the end, made the read almost anti-climactic.

I really liked this second book! Emily and Lavinia were a joy to read and the events really amped up. I was sucked in and it was a great rollercoaster of events to wrap up to the duet (:
