Tracing Scars

Rate this book
Live. Leap. Pretend. Forget.
Drowning in darkness. Sentenced to silence.
Fields and rain. Cathedral to cage.
Crunch. Squeak. Blood.

TY
She’s my never. My fortress. My moon.
Rena Noire—the one I’m not allowed to touch.
As a Cabal leader with a sordid past, hell is all I’ve ever had to offer.
So, I’ve kept my distance from the menacing angel.
But the sand is blowing everywhere, the line growing fainter.
And as danger closes in, all I see is her.
My forbidden. My compass. The forever I’ll burn for.
But it all comes back to one wrong choice.

RENA
As the youngest Noire sibling and heiress of our hospitality empire, I’m destined to be the heart, but never the head.
A princess locked in a bell tower.
That would be fine if Tytan Reynolds would storm my castle, but he’s determined to stay on his side of the moat.
My far-fetched fantasy and my brothers’ friend.
But when my world topples upside down, I glimpse the heat in his gaze.
I run. He chases.
He wants to shield. I belong to the dark.
Once we jump, the abyss with my tortured sailor is nothing like I expected.
Bound and gagged. Bullets of freedom. Time is ticking.
Nothing left to lose.

Audio: 5 stars for this duet!! Avery Caris and Teddy Hamilton killed this narration.
Book: 4.5 stars but rounding up

And book three didn’t disappoint, I swear Brandy’s books need to be longer because I love all these characters so much!

I loved Rena (Little Moon) and Ty, they were great for each other!

I don’t want to give too much a way, I honestly went in blind again for this story, and that was the best decision.

Now it’s Gage’s turn and it’s not out yet it’ll be released on the 27th of this month, but I can’t wait! I think the audio will come out in March!

I also wonder if the Noire’s will get a series, I hope they will be after this series haha!

Oh, My Ty! Full disclosure, Ty is the MMC I was waiting for and the author did right by him and Rena and then some! I inhaled this one in one sitting and the only thing that makes me sad is it's done and now I have to wait for the next book! Ty is morally gray, has seen it all, and is possessive of Rena (his Little moon swoon!) And yeah, touch her and be unalived, possesive and protective hero. Five 🌟 for the story...which made me laugh a couple of times, seriously made me tear up, and yes, break out the fan because this is a 5 🌶 kinda read.

Once again this author has crafted characters you want to take the journey with, and Rena is another FMC I want to hang out (hello music choices alone!) with and call a friend. And if you've read the other two books in this series The gangs all back as well. And I love that for those of us who have read the other books. I love revisiting with characters.

If you're looking for mafia/secret society read, spicy and sassy characters, touch her and die vibe from the MMC and an FMC who is strong, can handle herself but melts for said hero this is the book and series for you!!!

Tracing Scars is the third book in the KORT series, and if you haven't read it already, it’s best to start with book one, Burning Ivy.

Ty's past shaped him as a person and his demons still haunt him. That's why he will do anything to protect the people he loves. Especially her.

Rena is Noire's princess who yearns for freedom.
She soon discovers that freedom can come in many forms. Hers is Ty.

The mutual pinning, forbidden relationship, and mafia/secret society trope with a lot of suspense work well here. The plot twists and (steamy) action bring the entertainment. This series just seems to get better as it goes on. Next up in this book universe is Gage's story, which should be released next year.

An audio with Teddy Hamilton? Sold.

Ty and Rena were great. I really enjoyed the banter, and some of the wild things Rena would say lol.

Ty's story was heart breaking, but I loved all the good that has come from it and all he has done.

This series just keeps getting better and better! I loved the second, and thought it would be my fav, but this one is having my second guess my choices lol.

I loved Ty and Rena's characters, and the characteristics they each had. Both were so easy to fall in love with. The plot was addicting and had me hooked the entire time.

Avery Caris and Teddy Hamilton did such a great job bringing them to life.

"I'd happily sell my soul to ensure hers was safe."

Secrets, tortured souls, obsession, and forbidden love. Will Ty be able to break his control and promises to get to his little moon, or will he keep secrets from her and stay away?

Ty was such a sweetheart in the first two books. He was the person everyone depended on. Seeing his true colors and his struggles in this book was heartbreaking, like sweet Ty went through all that?!!
Beside his past life and how he hated himself for things he couldn't control, there was always someone in the back of his head, someone he wished he could have, but she is... was 'off limits'... his fiery little moon.

"I don't only crave you in the dark. I crave you always. Every-wherever"

Rena was PHENOMENAL. Gosh, I love this girl. Her personality is something else. I understand why Ty couldn't stay away from her. She felt suffocated in her home that was full of her five brothers. She wanted freedom, but she felt lonely when she had it. She wanted something or someone she had been yearning for, for years. So when she goes on a journey to find the truth and secrets that were kept from her, Ty was there to support her. Even though she was burning in her personal hell just like him, she wanted to burn with him too.

They are both so unhinged for each other. Whenever he tells her he has demons, she fires back with, "I want you, all of you." He's the darkness, and she's his light, and she was always ready to soak in his black soul.

Every page was a thrill. The action scenes had me on edge! I’ll never get enough of these characters. There are so many side stories I’m dying to read about (fingers crossed for the Noire brothers’ books).

As always, I can't wait to read more and more.

This entire series is criminally underrated. Each book builds so well on the last, weaving a story that’s gripping, emotional, and impossible to put down. Tracing Scars continues that momentum beautifully.

I’m not usually a fan of extreme brattiness in FMCs, but Rena and Ty’s dynamic just works—fiery, frustrating, and oddly perfect. Their chemistry is undeniable, and their banter (plus those nicknames!) had me smiling more times than I can count.

The KORT trial had my anxiety spiking in the best way. The tension was high, but the resolution was incredibly satisfying. And now… I’m both excited and terrified for Gage’s book. I can already tell it’s going to wreck me in all the right ways.

Brandy Hynes, you’ve got me hooked.

Tracing Scars is book three in The KORT Series. This is Rena and Ty’s story and my favorite so far. Performed by Avery Caris and Teddy Hamilton, I loved everything about this audiobook.

Rena is my kind of girl. She has a spunky personality, eccentric with her tattoos and she knows how to handle a pew-pew. Being raised by her mafia brothers, she’s sort of a badass. Plus, she had a great sense of humor and can handle Ty effortlessly.

Tracing Scars follows the same formula as the previous books so it still has the 007 action feel to it but now we not only get a badass, possessive MMC, we also get a kickass FMC who gives as much as she gets. The spice is as hot as ever and may be even hotter.

Do I recommend? YES!

If you haven’t seen me absolutely RAVING over the KORT series, this is your sign to go and pick these books up! Now. Don’t even read the rest of this just stat with Burning Ivy and thank me later 🖤

‼️ THIS SERIES MUST BE READ IN ORDER! DO NOT PICK UP TYTAN AND RENA UNTIL YOU’VE READ THE PREVIOUS TWO BOOKS ! ‼️

Ty and Rena have been mutually pining after one another for YEARS. Rena, she’s a sheltered, locked up Noire princess, with overprotective brothers, and a wild side. Ty, well.. he’s an absolute GOD. A broken man, but a GOD nonetheless. And he wants what’s forbidden.

Rena is a stunnin. Absolutely 100% authentic. She goes after what she wants, regardless of consequences, and she knows she’s involved in something much bigger than she can wrap her head around, but she does everything with a fierce sense of independency, and she doesn’t second guess herself for a second.

Ty struggles with deep, dark demons. He’s been through enough in this life, and his past one, but when it comes to keeping his family and the woman he loves safe? He stops at nothing. THE MOUTH ON THIS MAN 😮‍💨 UNFREAKINGREAL. He is FILTHY. Delicious. But my god. 🔥

This book was full of excitement, joy, heartbreak, love, family, life lessons, sticky notes, laughter, piercings, (so many piercings 👀) happiness, and struggle. But as always, Brandy does nothing but surprise and deliver.

These books are phenomenal. Anyone and everyone could pick up this series and enjoy it for the wild ride it is. I promise you, you will fall in love with these characters as much as I have. They’re beautiful. And each word is written with such purpose. 🖤

I can’t wait to see what Brandy has in store for Gage, the enforcer. I know that man has some demons of his own 🫠🖤

FLAWLESS

I absolutely adored Ty’s and Rena’s story. I knew there would be drama based off of who Rena is but damn, Brandy kicked up the drama and suspense to 100. I think I held my breath for the second half of the book. The twists, the turns, the bombshells. It was so intense!

Rena is hands down my favorite FMC I have read in 2024. She is such a badass. She is strong, witty, refuses to settle, and so full of empathy. I adore her. And does she give Ty a run for his money. It is awesome to read. Never underestimate a girl who’s kept hidden in an ivory tower.

SHE LEAVES HIM POST-IT NOTES! ❤️ be still my heart ❤️

Ty is a tortured hero to the core. His past crushes him in everything he does. It’s heartbreaking. But he cares with his whole heart and exudes the “touch her and ☠️” vibe likes it’s his job (because in his eyes, it is his job). He also makes all her “ahem” fantasies come true. 🌶️🥵

The two of them together are absolutely perfect. They come up with theme songs for their missions, what is not to love about that?

God. I need to be in this friends group. No joke.

I have been a walking talking billboard for Brandy Hynes and the KORT series from the moment I picked up Burning Ivy and I will continue to scream at the top of my lungs for anyone and everyone to read this series! So if you have NOT read this series yet, this is your sign and you can thank me later. This whole series has made my TOP READS OF THE YEAR! And let me tell you something Tracing Scars did not disappoint.

Since this is a review for Tracing Scars, can we please get a round of applause on another beautifully written masterpiece by Brandy! I can’t even begin to form the worlds with how beautiful this story was. Every single word that was written had such depth. And the story that was given was so beautiful. Like honestly every time I describe Brandy's writing, those are the only word that I use to describe her books. But it's true. This book is so beautifully written.

If you have read the KORT series in its entirety up to this point then you have already been introduced to Ty and Rena. And I always knew they both would have tortured pasts that have made them who they are. My sweet baby Ty has such a tragic past and he really struggled through this book. He needed something or should I say someone to help pull him out of the darkness and Rena was exactly what he needed. But with that being said, Rena also has a very tragic past as well. As the Noire Princess she has lived a very sheltered life and is just looking for freedom. And boy does she get that freedom in this book.

I loved that these two have been mutual pining for each other for YEARS! But in Ty's eyes, Rena was untouchable. She is the Noire Princess and his best friends little sister. And it physically hurt him to love her from afar. Our girl Rena never knew how Ty felt but she was willing to finally go after what she wanted and boy did she make him work for it! These two found solace in one another and helped each other from their tragic pasts. I also want to say, I absolutely LOVED Rena's personality. She was a little firecracker! She is also a VERY STRONG FMC! She knew what she wanted, knew who she was and was unapologetically herself. I loved her commentary. She definitely was the comedic relief that Ty desperately needed.

Now this is a romantic suspense. So I can't talk much about the plot without giving it away the plot twists but if you are with the KORT series then you know what is to come. And just know it will not disappoint!

So again, if you have not read the KORT series, this is your sign to add ALL of Brandy Hynes's books to your TBR. You will absolutely fall in love with Brandy and as always you can thank me later.

You should most definitely read this book if you like:
- Dark Romantic Suspense
- Mafia/Secret Society
- Brother's Best Friend
- Forbidden/Secret Relationship
- Mutual Pining
- OTT J/P Hero
- Morally Grey MMC and FMC
- Strong FMC
- Found Family
- Pierced (for her) MMC

This is the third book in the KORT series and while it centers around a new couple you must read books one and two, Burning Ivy & Carving Graves, first.

Brandy Hynes has done it again y’all. Another phenomenal five star banger.
Ty and Rena were everything I hoped they would be. Rena is a little spitfire and I loved every minute of her rebellion. And Tytan, ohhh Ty, I already knew he had a tragic past, but maannn has he been through some shit. Hearing the full depth of his past was so heartbreaking.
I loved the character development of both characters and of course I loved their relationship development…the mutual pining for one another for YEARS, come on…the sexual tension was so thick and once it snapped…ooof. In my opinion, this is the spiciest book of the series so far!

I am so obsessed with this series and these characters. Hands down one of my most recommended series this year. I am already counting down the days until Gage’s book!

If you are a fan of strong found family vibes, protective MMCs, badass FMCs and mafia/secret society you NEED to read this series!

Book #3 in the KORT series was good but not as good as Book #2. It felt more in line with Book #1 but a better story and couple.

Brandy you have talent when it comes to crafting interesting stories and really solid character development. But it gets lost in over dramatic writing and messy long winded descriptions. And over use of repetitive phrasing and words. It becomes so convoluted and it takes me out of what is an interesting story.

The first 60% while important to the characters development was too much. Cut it down. So much could’ve been edited and made the pacing much more smooth. 60% on it was fast paced, action packed, everything kicked off. This is where it’s more like Book #1. Book #2 felt a bit slow to start but passed 20% it was consistent and flowed really good. I really like Gage who will be the MMC of Book #4 and I am praying that his story is not weighed down and actually has a strong flow to it.

It’s a hit and miss series for me but mainly because of her writing choices. Also sopping, weeping, glistening for the love of god just say WET!! We get it, the women are turned on by their men. It just feels like she needs to use more words to describe things to fill the pages. 500 pages could’ve been 400 and this is consistent with every book so far.

I liked Ty and Rena as a couple, but something felt off with them. They were both painted as the fun easy-going characters in the first two books, and I love backstories with trauma, but they both just felt too drab and dramatic about everything they did. I thought there would be some trauma and bonding over it, but that there would be a more lighter touch to their story. Every conversation was drawn out, and their relationship developed at an odd pace compared to how the first two couples did. I don’t know I don’t hate it and don’t love it, just neutral.

I love this series! I have been a KORT follower since Brandy Hynes first came out with this series. If you have not read any of this secret society romantic suspense, then you are missing out. I love these books, and just when I think they can't get any better, Brandy knocks the next one out of the park. Ty and Rena's story was well done.

In the past books, we could all tell there was something between Ty and Rena. They both wanted each other so bad but were scared to go after it.

Ty has an awful past, and my heart broke for him. The things he's been through just hurt me. He wanted Rena so bad, and it was hurting him more not to be with her. He knew he couldn't because she was his best friend's sister and the Princess to the mafia.

Rena also wanted Ty but had no clue that he possessed the same feelings she did. Her past was not one of beauty, either. She is such a strong bada$$ FMC. I frisky want to be her when I grow up, lol. I was so happy when she decided to go after what she wanted, and that was Ty. But boy, did she make him work for it.

Brandy series her books with such depth that you just get lost in them. Reading for hours because you can't put the book down. Even to cook dinner for your kids. I started up reading this book all night because I was sucked right into her world. Or should I say the KORT world. I definitely recommend reading this book. This whole series of you haven't yet. You're missing out.

BRANDY STRIKES AGAIN!!!🥰🥰 I love how this book felt different enough from the others without betraying the overall feel of this series. We got to see a completely different side of Ty that wasn't shown much in the first 2 books, the darker tormented side finally breaking through. He was my favorite of the 4 in the first book so I really enjoyed getting more of him in this one. Not to mention how unhinged he can be with Rena. I also enjoyed the sappy, gentle side of Rena with her old age wisdom and cute sticky notes... while also being a straight up menace.

This series has officially landed as my #1 favorite romance series and I'm anxiously sitting at the edge of my seat for Gage's book. As soon as the new character was introduced I knew she would be for him.

I hope Brandy branches out after this series and gives the Noire brothers their own books too. I'd love to read Mercy coming back to a love triangle with Axel and Ryker... or any of the other boys getting their own story!!!

Bottom line, anything that Brandy writes and releases will jump to the top of my TBR. I'm very excited to see what she brings in the years to come!!!!

Tytan Reynolds was so swoony. He might have his demons but that man is the ultimate romantic. Rena was his perfect match. This story was a wild ride. It was also very heavy. Both of them had experienced so much but coming together they were able to fight their demons together. I loved this one but Gage is next and I am screaming for the enforcers story!

Ty and Rena for the win!
When I tell you I binged this book… I BINGED!! Sucking in every word like a fiend.
I was glued the minute I started. Rena is such a fun free spirit who balances out Ty! Both had demons who understood each other. The freedom Rena had yearned for wasn’t the freedom she thought she wanted. She found a freedom that protects you. Their back and forth banter is greatness! Her making him work for it

Rena’s playlist threw me off because, well, it’s Rena! HOWEVER, it fit perfectly. She made songs I had never thought of as sexy, sexy.

THAT🤌🏻ENDING🤌🏻THOUGH!!! ❤️‍🔥

I was giddy when I saw that the next book is Gage!!

Oh man! How does this series keep getting better and better? 😍

I've been eagerly waiting for Ty's book ever since Burning Ivy, and let me just say... the wait was 100% worth it. 🙌 Without giving too much away, this one is the perfect addition to the KORT series. The smut? Oh yeah, it was smutting. The plot? It was definitely plotting! 🔥💥

Rena was such a strong FMC, and it was such a refreshing change to see her character shine through. Loved every moment of this read! 👏 Can't wait for the next one :D

ALC AUDIOBOOK REVIEW:

🎲 Tracing Scares
KORT • Book 3
By: Brandy Hynes @brandylhynes

🎧Narrated By: @narratedbyteddyhamilton and @aka_averycaris

What a ride, legit jumping off a fast motorcycle onto a moving vehicle type of WILD ride, and I was here for it. I have loved this series so much but I just found a new favorite! Tracing Scars was action packed, hot and heavy, with a narrator cast that leaves you only wanting more. Following Rena Norie the youngest heir to her families fortune and Ty Reynolds, an ex navy seal and a Cabal leader, 2nd in command in KORT. Tracing Scars follows behind Burning Ivy and Carving Graves in order to follow along you will want to read both books before diving into Tracing Scars, and you won’t be disappointed. Getting to know Ty in the first two books, I was excited for his story and the spit fire Rena was the perfect woman to get deep in the depth of Ty Reynolds. This is the type of dark romance that keeps you connected by all the action happening, all the plotting and crazy situations Rena, Ty and our past favorites are involved in but this story also brought the sexiest love connection and Ty truly met his match. Rena is sexy, playful and a straight dirty mouthed vixen, yet she is kind and honest. I believe Ty knew this all along as he has watched her from afar and finally realized she could be the woman to bring light into his darkness and she did just that. Battling heavy demons, Ty is rough around the edges but the ease as which Rena’s presence brought to Ty was a breath of fresh air. I love a broody badass protective man, but give all of those things and a man in love and I will melt. Now, give me all of those things and Teddy Hamilton narrating and I’m putty. Teddy Hamilton and Avery Caris narrate in duet doing an outstanding job. Teddy has a way with his voice that can make you see the hardness in a character yet know deep down their heart is gold, and that’s who Ty is. A protective guy who will do whatever needed to protect the ones he loves and Teddy Narrated him with perfection. Avery’s voice was everything I needed for Rena, she was sassy with the confidence and heart of a badass and a kind soul for her family and Ty. Avery was able to truly bring out the emotions of Rena, the lows of what she has been through throughout her life and the thrills for going after what she has wanted. Adorable and crazy and I loved Avery’s voice. I am sucked into the world of KORT and counting the days till we get Gage’s story.

Ty and Rena’s love is not easy—it’s full of mistakes, bad choices, and brutal truths. But it’s also deep, obsessive, and worth every second.

The audiobook is narrated in duet by Avery Caris and Teddy Hamilton. Avery’s performance is breathtaking!

This is the third book in the series, and I strongly recommend reading the first two first. Otherwise, you’ll feel completely lost.

Tropes
✔ Best friend’s sister / forbidden
✔ Tortured, obsessed hero
✔ Rebellious FMC
✔ Mafia/secret society
✔ Only one bed
✔ Vegas marriage
✔ Touch her and ☠️
✔ He worships her

Ty has been through hell—ex-Navy SEAL, survivor’s guilt, PTSD, and the weight of too many ghosts on his shoulders. He broke my heart so many times. All I wanted was for him to find peace.
Since the beginning of the series, I saw him as the chosen one. I was waiting for his story, and I’m not disappointed.

I have to admit, though, this book isn’t my favorite. Not because of the mind-blowing, gripping plot (Brandy knows how to write a masterpiece), and definitely not because of the characters, who are carved into my heart. But I just didn’t connect with Rena. Maybe it’s her youth or her journey of self-discovery, but something didn’t click for me.
I adore Ivy (Book 1) and Celeste (Book 2) for their sassiness and strength. So, for me, Rena falls a bit behind.

To summarize and quote:
“Give me your demons. And I’ll give you mine. We can let them dance together.”

Now, I’m impatiently waiting for my Big Guy’s story.
The audiobook will be available on April 17, 2025 (still in duet, narrated by Samantha Brentmoore and Jacob Morgan).

“…relegated to an eternal nightmare, and you are the
one source of fcking light.”

✨I’ve spent this week listening to Tracing Scars, book three in the KORT series and my gods!

This dark romance gave me everything I wanted, a captivating plot, one that kept me riding that edge, while also fulfilling my hearts every desire with the amazing character and relationship development.

✨There were so many times that I broke for these characters, so many times that their banter made me laugh, and the swoon of it all perfectly blended with spice was incredible!

This story is full of longing and angst, secrets, found family in a way I’ve never felt, and I couldn’t love it more. Listening along as these characters battled their own inner demons really tore at all of my heartstrings. I laughed, I melted with the heat, felt anxious in the best way, and I sobbed ❤️

✨And these incredible narrators absolutely delivered in the most epic way of ensuring the listener felt every twist, turn, moment of whiplash, and swoon with their performances.

Tracing Scars is the third book in the KORT series, best read or listened to in order. And I’ve taken my time savoring Ty and Rena’s story and I KNOW this is one to add to your TBR.

Holy hopscotch! What sweet drug did you put in this audio Brandy?
I devoured this and listened to it any chance that I could. The story between Rena & Ty was beautiful, both characters harbouring their own demons but masking it with sunshine and smiles.
Rena has had a crush on Ty for such a long time, that she has always thought it wasn’t reciprocated , but that couldn’t be further from the truth.
After a bombshell is dropped Rena flees, and Ty is desperate to find her and keep her safe but also return her to her worried and protective brothers. This kicks of a chain of events that brings them both together, but with forced proximity, burning desires bubble to the surface making this a scorching read.
A brilliant from start to finish with outstanding narration, plus all our favourite KORT characters too!

2.5 ⭐️

I started Tracing Scars with the optimism that I’ll finally get to learn more about the outwardly sweet, Tytan. I could tell from previous books that his soulmate of choice would be the princess, Rena.

Tytan initially interested me the most out of the KORT men because of how charming and kind he was to Ivy and Celeste. We learn in book three that there is much more than meets the eye and his backstory is both heartbreaking and interesting.

Then we learn more about Rena, the princess locked in the tower. She has several overbearing brothers that won’t allow her much freedom because of the tortured world that their family belongs to. I admit that many of Rena’s antics in this book and the predecessors were funny but in this book, there were moments that felt more cringe and didn’t quite land for me.

Well I do enjoy living on the edge. So, unleash the monster, sailor. I’ll hold on to the headboard like a good girl

I truly don’t think that sounded as sexy as she wanted it to be and the nickname was even worse. Tytan also had his moments of cringe here (especially during steamy scenes) as well that I didn’t feel in the other books.

“I know what you told me,” he assures me. “It was the day before Ivy and Wells’s wedding, and you confessed you’d had sex once. Maybe you’ve even had more experiences since then. But either way, that perfect pussy is a virgin to what I’m about to do to it.”

Like.. er okay Ty lol.

Another problem I had with this book is Tytan’s resolve. There are far too many mentions of him dragging Rena into hell and how he’s undeserving over her even after swearing to never let her go.

And while I enjoy the author’s writing style as sometimes it feels like I’m reading poetry, it felt like the pages were endlessly dragging in this book. I may have noticed it more because of Ty’s “I want you but I’ll ruin your life” monologue the entire book.

My solace and what I was anticipating was Rena’s trial and her brother’s reaction to her relationship with Ty. This anticipated drama didn’t disappoint me and was fun to read.

In summary, I didn’t like this book as much as its other two predecessors and unfortunately had to go with my gut and rate 2.5 stars.

I really had to push myself to finish this out of my interest of the series and the other characters. There are elements that I like however, such as getting to know the KORT men on a deeper level and seeing the new family dynamics with their women. But, I felt like the writing aired many elements of cringe (too much random dialogue during the steamy bits) and was missing more of the humor from previous books. I understand Ty’s backstory is not the easiest pill to swallow but the team have all faced challenges. It’s hard to enjoy the romance when Ty was constantly torn about his resolve with Rena. I’ll definitely continue for Gage’s story to see how this chapter ends.

I have three words. Tytan MF Reynolds! 🫠 I have been waiting for Ty’s book since Burning Ivy! After Ivy met the whole gang I was pulled towards Ty’s story. And let me tell you! Brandy did not disappoint! A complete masterpiece! 😍

If you haven’t seen me blasting my socials with everything KORT, take this time to start this series from the beginning with Wells + Ivy! (Ughh I love them so much!) I am a full blown cheerleader for Brandy! Every book in this series is a 5 star banger!! ⭐️

Obviously we have seen bits and pieces of Ty and Rena throughout Burning Ivy and Carving Graves but their story is absolutely precious!

Ty and Rena have been pining after each other for four damn years and finally the stars have aligned. My sweet and feisty Rena is the Noire Princess and has been locked up and guarded by her older brothers and hasn’t been able to express her wild personality. And then there’s my broken sweetheart Tytan, he has been craving the forbidden little sister of his friend and has finally had enough and wants to take what’s his. 🖤

Tytan is broken, let’s be honest. Ty has had so many lives. His past has really broken him into being a shell of a man. But when it comes to Rena who is his entire light he will do anything. And I mean everything and anything to protect the woman who owns his entire heart.

Rena is a badass. I mean all of Brandy’s FMC’s are but damn Rena is absolutely Ahhmazing. This woman is leaping first and definitely not thinking about the consequences. I love that she is just full steam ahead and makes our boy chase her in full force! 🖤

These two are absolute fire together. The romance, the love and the damn spice 🥵 I absolutely love everything about these two! And can we take a minute to appreciate the damn mouth on Tytan Reynolds!?! MY GAWD! My jaw was definitely on the ground during a couple scenes! 🏍️

I can’t say it enough but I absolutely loved every damn second of this entire book! I laughed, I cried, I was in complete shock, I was on the edge of my seat, my jaw was on the floor and honestly I couldn’t put this book down. I am here for a dark suspenseful romance all day everyday.

This series is fan-frickin-tastic! Please pick up this series now, you can thank me later! 🌙

Review: 5/5

KORT is back in session for my sweet baby Ty! I have literally been waiting for Ty's story since he first called Ivy Freckles in book one. Something about him just gave me the vibe that he would be my favorite. I'm obviously on to Gage next but Ty will be hard to beat.

This book has been out for awhile so, with that in mind, I'm not going to do my usual things I liked or missed the mark for the overall story and will just give my general thoughts in that arena. Tytan Reynolds and Rena Noire are perfection. They have pined over each other for years and are finally seizing their chance, no matter how rocky their union was to start and no matter how many things try to get in their way. They both have their secrets and their demons and they are the perfect balance for one another. Ty is the definition of morally grey. Noble and kind yet will burn the world for those he loves. And Rena is so quietly strong that everyone underestimates the boss ass bee she truly is. I just loved these two so much and the background plot, trial, and mystery were the perfect backdrop for Ty and Rena coming together.

The narration:
Teddy freakin' Hamilton and Avery freakin' Caris. I knew I was going to love Teddy. He's at the top of my male narrators list and I've never listened to something I didn't like from him. But Avery? I've never listened to her before and she freakin' nailed it. She has shot towards the top of my female narrators list. Avery was so great as Rena. I will 100% listen to anything she narrates again and, obviously, I'll allow Teddy in my ears any time.

Can't wait to start listening to Gage! Jacob Morgan and Samantha Brentmoor? What a narration powerhouse for the final book of the series!

~ Tracing Scars | Brandy Hynes ~

The KORT Series | Book 3

🖤 Dark Romance
🩷 Forbidden Romance
🖤 Mutual Pining
🩷 Mystery & Suspense
🖤 Kinks Explored
🩷 Found Family

There is no doubt in my mind at all… If Brandy Hynes writes it… I’m going to be reading it!

Book Three in the KORT series is Ty & Rena’s story, them finally coming together has been simmering in the background since Book one. If you want the full experience, I highly recommend reading these books in order. Brandy’s world building and the way she intertwines each couple's story is just perfection, and Tracing Scars is simply another top tier book that you will devour.

Rena, just like the women that came before her in Burning Ivy & Carving Graves, is fierce, sassy, independent, and strong willed! I fall in love with every FMC Brandy writes. And as for Ty, our MMC, we've already come to learn that he's a softie deep down, but seeing him be a little more broody completely upped the heat factor. Swoon! I absolutely ate up the possessive and protective side of Ty, those "touch her and die" vibes were everything!

Rena has been guarded in a locked ivory tower by her brothers since she was a child, heir to the Noire Empire and set on a pedestal as their princess. With Ty, she's able to stand side by side with him and his family, shielded but also given the opportunity to grow into her own person and be believed in and trusted.

Both Ty and Rena are tormented by their own demons, left with tortured souls, but together they discover they can be the light for each other amongst the pain and suffering they have endured or been witness to. A safe haven for each other to weather any storm.

When Ty claims Rena as his, finally, (the slow burn is delicious) the spice is HOT! Brandy knows how to write a good girl scene and also mix in some light degradation and experimentation with kinks 😍 Ty’s dirty mouth is sinfully sexy and Rena’s sass is delivered perfectly too!

I’m excited for book 4 and Gage’s story! But I’ll also be so sad that the series is over. I’ll be shouting about these books at every opportunity and I will be ordering physical copies for my shelves to treasure! 🖤

If Brandy writes it I will read it. And this series is a must read for anyone who loves a Mafia or Secret society Dark Romance. I LOVE the Kort Series because it is so different from any other Mafia/Secret Society I have read. The twists and turns in this series really pulls you in and has you on the edge of your seat.

**I will say you must read Burning Ivy & Carving Graves before diving into Rena and Tytan's story plus you will fall in love with them as much as I did.**

Where do I even start!? I was so pulled into this story from the start of the book. I loved how Rena and Ty have been mutually pining over each other for years but that it was Rena who went after what/who she wanted and oh boy did she make Ty work for it.

Ty...oh Ty this man has struggles. He is so broken and the weight he carries on his shoulders just makes me want to reach in and show him how loved and cared for he is. But despite how broken he is Ty will do everything he can to protect those he loves no matter what and that includes Rena.

Rena...she was a very strong and independent FMC and I am here for that. Rena had so much fire and sass but I also appreciated how she showed her vulnerability with only Ty. But with all that said about her I absolutely loved how Rena lights a fire under Ty and challenges him in ways he needed to be challenged.

What I loved about Ty and Rena was that they were a perfect match they truly brought out the best in each other and worked as a team. The way these two fit together was everything and let's not forget the spice....good lord the spice between these two was hot....I mean these two give Celeste & Liam a run for their money and trust me that is saying a lot!

I will add that I absolutely loved the moments between Rena and Ty that included theme songs and post it notes....these moments were everything and had me swooning and smiling from ear to ear.

If you love a found family, possessive and obsessed MMC, banter and spice....oh the spice....then you truly need to read this book and series by Brandy.
