Navigating through one storm builds courage for the next.
Spencer and his faithful labrador retriever, Finn, continue their quest to reach his girlfriend, Kate, in Stuart, Florida, before she becomes another casualty of the chaos caused by the EMPs that have crippled the eastern seaboard and possibly the country.
Leaving Marathon, Florida, in lawless turmoil behind them, Spencer, and his newly minted crew, consisting of Rob, Natalie, and their daughter Maya, soon realize the open ocean is no safe haven. With the potential for danger lurking behind every wave and conditions rivaling those found on shore, Spencer and the others are forced to fight for their survival on the high seas.
As time runs out for Kate in Stuart, Spencer must overcome the odds that threaten to break his resolve and test his skills as a Coast Guard veteran in a race against the clock where he finds himself the de facto captain of the recently commandeered Black Bird. Success requires more than just a steady hand—it demands a crew bound by trust and a willingness to do whatever it takes to make it through.
Brutal storms, murderous pirates and desperate travelers fleeing the EMP ravaged coast, who seem more than willing to abandon all vestiges of civility, are only the beginnings of the challenges they will face together as a team. Can Spencer find a way to navigate the dangers ahead, bring his crew together, and reach Kate before it's too late?
Dead Reckoning is the 3rd installment of Bruno Miller's maritime post temp saga. The characters really pull together, though the mission is far from over. There's much moral ambiguity, as one should expect in a survival thriller. Spencer made it to Kate's home, with the aid of his traveling companions, only to be confronted by violent looters. Its quite a scenario to leave the book, but all but guarantees everyone who started the series is as eager for the next installment as I am. Everything you should know to expect from Bruno Miller's works. 5/5 stars!!!
Well Done Bruno Miller another fast paced story. It is action packed and full of twists and turns. The adventures continues. I really can't wait for the next book. When I saw this one on Bruno Miller's website, I immediately purchased it and as soon as I received it I opened and read it. If you don't get into this series you are missing out, Bruno Miller does a wonderful job keeping you engaged. I also recommend his Dark Road series and his Cloverdale series. I've read them all and have not been disappointed.
Really love Bruno’s apocalyptic stories!! Awesome characters & stories!! Just wish this one hadn’t ended with such a Huge cliffhanger!! I’d wait til they all were written..but i LOVE these too much to wait!! The stories are worth the wait-even for an impatient person like me-LOL!
Read the first two books of this series. Two stars is being very generous. If I had known you were going to leave them hanging with no info of a fourth book or not I wouldn’t have even started the series. That’s it! Won’t be reading more of your books! I suffered through the dark road series but enough is enough. Fini.

I should have known when I started this series the author likes cliffhangers from reading his other books. This was a great book. I really like the main characters. I like the way Spencer, Rob and Nat work together and like Finn and even Ciro, but who knows when the next book will be out! There is no swearing in the book which is nice.
While I am enjoying this series so far I'm getting tired of the angsty self reflections of the main character, Spencer. So tired of it that I'm starting to skim those parts. Get on with the plot and stop the endless self recriminations and over thinking. If not for that these books would have all rated 5 stars.
In this third installment of this post-apocalyptic series, the tone of the first half of the book is representative of the dark mood the crew was in at the end of the second book.
As things progressed, the mood lightened up only to go sour by the end of this book.
There is hope because there is another book in the series to read.
Great characters who are well fleshed out. Love Maya, Finn, and Coro. Wish this had ended with finding Kate but the adventure was exciting! Write fast so the next book comes out soon!
Action is sporadic. I skimmed through 75% of this book. 1st book wasn't much better. I was hoping this series would've improved. But sadly not. I'll not continue to the next one. I don't care if Spencer and Kate ever reunite.
I like any book based on water or in boats so this series has been a fun read so far. This book 3 was a little slow in places, too much over thinking and whining by the main character but other action parts were good. On to the next!
So I like Bruno Miller and the way he writes. The Dark Waters series is the third storyline in his post-EMP world. I found it to be the best of this series so far and now I have to go get the fourth volume. Read it…you won’t regret it!
I really like this series so I was excited to see there was now a book 3. However, feeling letdown the story hasn’t moved along much further than it was end of book 2.
Another great read. Thought the weapons description was a bit too much at times but other than that, I really enjoyed it. Can’t wait until book 4 in the series is available.
