My Alien Cellmate

Mondays suck, and then you get kidnapped by aliens.

Astra

In the grand mess of life, where my two jobs barely keep my moldy apartment afloat, the universe decides to throw in an extra curveball — I'm abducted by aliens to be sold as an exotic slave. Now, I'm stuck in a cell with an alien roommate whose job description includes impregnating me. It's like adding rotten cherries atop of a cosmic joke of a cake that is my life.

But here's the kicker — my extraterrestrial companion turns out to be surprisingly civilized. A gentlealien, if you will? Terminology aside, he's beautiful, in every sense of the word. Despite the absurdity of the situation, there's an undeniable attraction between us. Yet, the looming threat of slavery dampens any sparks.

Tareq

Infiltrate the slaver crew. Locked in with the cargo. Now, they want me to impregnate a female from some primitive planet. Surprise of the millennium — she's not the helpless victim I anticipated.

She's resilient, intelligent, and beautiful, even with those blunt teeth and useless claws. I could see her as my mate, but that's a cosmic joke. Once I free us, she's off to her cozy planet, leaving me to nurse my two broken hearts. The Ancestors sure have a twisted sense of humor.

***

My Alien Cellmate is book 1 of the brand new alien romance series. All the books can be read as standalones and will have a HEA and no cliffhangers. Perfect for the fans of Ruby Dixon, Evangeline Anderson, or Tiffany Roberts.

Like all my books, My Alien Cellmate contains graphic sex and violence. All sexual activities described in the book are consensual.

I always love it when a SYKD book is a good find! This was a dark but fun read with a blue collar FMC and the equivalent of a space cop who are stuck in a cell together. So ya know, the title of the book. Astra was a good mix of TSTL fierceness and wits, able to adapt to an impossible situation fairly quickly. Tareq was not the best cop, what with being caught by slavers on accident and all, but he did have a good heart. Their relationship was an absolute whirlwind and sweet.

Spice: 3/5

Triggers: abduction, captivity, violence, gore, murder, torture, electrocution, enslavement, medical SA, involuntary medical procedures, exhibitionism by other character, forced nudity, asphyxiation, gun fight, animal abuse, crash, battle including guns, somnophilia (brief, really close to just morning sex), threat of forced breeding

I'm a huge fan of alien romance so when I saw this pop up as a recommended, I decided to read it and I'm glad I did because I really enjoyed this!!

I loved Tareq. Tareq was such a sweetie! 😍

It was definitely an interesting storyline but I definitely want to see where all this goes because I think it's an interesting world to be in for sure!

It's definitely spicy and I love me some spicy alien romance so I wasn't disappointed!

Wasn't so sure how the human and alien romance would work, but Anna did a great job making it work! Taraq is my new book boyfriend! Err, book alien friend? Whatever! There was action, there was love and a great storyline to tie it all together. Looking forward to the next book in the series!

Thanks to the author for free copy of this book!

In My Alien Cellmate by Anna Svoboda, Astra is working multiple crappy jobs just to keep a roof over her head until one day on her way home, she’s pulled into a tractor beam and abducted by aliens to be sold into slavery. Tareq is a member of an elite squad of law enforcement tasked with taking down a particular slavery ring, only instead of getting a job on board as a guard he’s accidentally captured and enslaved. He just needs to escape for long enough to call for backup, but when Astra is thrown into the cell next to him all of those plans go awry. When it becomes clear that the aliens that captured them think Astra will make more credits knocked up than not, Tareq steps in to keep her from being thrown to another slave, promising to breed her for them. But with the language barrier separating them, how can he explain the situation to her? And while Astra might find him deeply attractive, will she be able to trust him enough to get out of the situation alive?

Listen, this was not a literary masterpiece. However, it was exactly as advertised: an alien abduction romp with a protective MMC and a strong and mouthy FMC. I devoured it in the course of a single night and enjoyed every minute of it the same way I enjoyed the bowl of ice cream I ate earlier in the evening: it was sweet, uncomplicated, and exactly what I wanted. So if you enjoy alien abduction stories with the suggestion of forced breeding, language barriers, and intsta-love and insta-lust storylines, this is the book for you. If you’re looking for something deeper or more complicated, it might be a good idea to skip this one for now.

I will definitely be reading the rest of the series as it comes out, if for no other reason than to figure out !

Astra is having a hard time making ends meet even with two jobs. She thinks her life sucks now but then she's kidnapped by aliens that see her as nothing more than a slave they can make more sought after if she's impregnated by one of the other aliens they've kidnapped, and they don't care which one. Tareq has the translator implanted so he can communicate with the evil alien kidnappers and he agrees to impregnate Astra but only agrees to this in order to keep her safe from the others. Astra can't understand Tareq but after she realizes that he's not going to hurt her, they try communicating and it works, kind of.

Tareq is kind of the alien police and was sent there to infiltrate the slave ship so his companions can stop the ship and save the kidnapped people and send them all back home, after their memories have been wiped.

But Tareq and Astra aren't going to just sit around and wait for something to happen, they somehow get help form another alien and try to escape. When Tareq is able to contact his shipmates and tell them they are in need of help, all hell breaks loose and Astra and the others find themselves in danger. But Tareq isn't going to just let the kidnapped aliens die so he and his shipmates have to think outside the box to save them.

Once Astra is implanted with a communication device and can understand Tareq and the others, it's easier to realize that she really likes Tareq but what's going to happen once they are saved and she has to go home without her memories of him?

Now I will say the cover for this one was a huge turn off. What is the cartoon hell is happening on the cover? But the book sounded really good so I gave it a read and I'm really happy that I did.

Gleeful Goblin Review: I had such a great time with this book and it was so unexpectedly sweet I almost couldn't stand it. In the best way. Our FMC Astra is stuck in a pretty rough spot while on Earth, working two jobs and barely making ends meet, has a mom who refuses to grow up, struggles with addiction, and never wants to be responsible for herself, and all that's before Astra is kidnapped by grey aliens for nefarious reasons!

Heads up on a content warning, there is a scene early on where the FMC is being examined and probed by the aliens who've abducted her. It's not super explicit but if that type of scene is not something you want to read I'd skip the first half or so of Chapter 3 and you'll be all good. Plus, Chapter 4 literally has a super adorable panda, so you'll just be getting to that bit all the quicker.

Our MMC, Tareq, is aboard the same ship as Astra for very different reasons and is not the hapless prisoner the kidnappers think he is. He's able to communicate with the kidnappers and some of the other prisoners but without a translator Astra can't do the same and Tareq's translator doesn't recognize English since Earth is a no go zone. Learning to trust and having feelings develop under extreme pressure and through a language barrier is a challenge to be sure, but seeing both of these characters work hard to do so was a ton of fun. I highly recommend this book if you're into space based daring action, love against the odds, and zesty scenes that will make you (and Tareq) purr. 5/5 Stars

I absolutely love alien abduction romance! This story follows Astra, who is working two dead end jobs and barely able to make ends meet when she ends up abducted and on a space ship filled with other life forms that are being set to be sold into slavery. There she meets a tiger striped piece of man candy named Tareq. He’s a working undercover to rescue all of them and to bring down the aliens who are abducting people to begin with.

This story has it all! I loved the humor and I adored the spice. I really love communication barriers as well. I was grateful when they were finally able to communicate but it just adds to the story for me.

Tareq was super sweet and I love a good MMC that purrs for his mate. Or “myále” as he calls her. It was instant for him but he treaded carefully which made it all the more sweeter. Astra as well! She was scared but so strong! Her no alien left behind mentality endeared her to me. She was so tough when she needed to be.

Cricket was so cute! And I ended up really loving the lizard man too. And the wolf!! I hope that maybe in the next book we can get to know what happens to them? I am excited for each of the members of the crew to get their HEA though. I can see myself getting very attached.

Ever since reading The Werepigeon Apocalypse, I've admired Anna Svoboda's ability to write crazy storylines so well with her unique writing style and sense of humor. My Alien Cellmate continues that admiration.

Overall Rating: 4 out of 5 stars

Open or Closed Door: Open door

Spice Level: 2.5 out of 5 peppers

Series or Stand-Alone: This book is a stand-alone book that is part of an interconnected series.

Ending: Ends on a happy for now without a cliffhanger.

Likes

- Fast-paced and well-written makes for an easy read - perfect for an evening/weekend read
- Unique main and side characters
- Good mix of humor, suspense, and spice throughout

Dislikes
- Not a big deal but would have liked to read a bit more about the side characters at the end

Overall, I really enjoyed my time reading this book and recommend My Alien Cellmate to anyone who loves an Alien romance with a kinder MMC, especially if you want a book you can read in a sitting or two.

I can't wait to read the next book in the Supernova Casanovas series!

In the fourth book of Supernova Casanovas we get to know D'Aakh a little more, he's the main technician at the ship and not in the best of shape at the moment. Not wanting any help, he has a hard time accepting that the captain has hired another technician to help put with repairs. Especially since it's a human and a woman.
Lucía works at Alevvo mining station and she's asked to help out with repairs as an unknown airship needs help repairing their engine.

These two clash together and sparks fly, both on the ship and between them, will he accept that she's as skilled as he is and will she act on her feelings? What happens when the mining station is under attack?

I had a blast reading this book, and the chemistry between D'Aakh and Lucía is there, but how will it affect the spaceship and all the crew, not to mention the bugs aboard.

This series are so much fun to read and even with hard topics, it's really well woven into the story.

I loved the story between Astra and Tareq, their playful banter and feelings. It was interesting to see the events playout without the main characters able to talk but still understand each other. I like Anna Svoboda's style of writing that makes me smile, laugh, and feel so much for the characters, especially Cricket! In the end, both Astra and Tareq work together to fight corruption and greed while running to each other. I loved Anna's gumption and fighting spirit, her moments of clumsiness and her big heart. Tareq was so sweet and caring, a perfect 'gentlealien', and dedicated and loyal to his crew and their cause. I can't wait for the next book in the series and the entire series in general!

Astra ( human) is abducted, probed, and thrown in a cell with a orange and black stripped alien with a tail unable to understand a word he says. Tareq ( Syndoran, alien) is also a captive on the slaver-ship. He's told to breed Astra so she's more valuable at auction. Human are seen as primitive but underestimating Astra was the Genixarians mistake. Together with Tareq and a lizard alien that no one understands, they helped all the abducted to escape.
When Astra needs help, Tareq's special ops crew defect from their duties as Nava squad and become outlaws with a purpose.
Wonderful characters, abduction, adventure, action, danger, found family, steamy, fated mates, and Happily-ever-mated.

I like the forced proximity… Mutual captives forced to work together and learn to appreciate each other… But I get really annoyed by the Insta-love. They’ve known each other for two or three days, and I understand taking comfort with each other, but that’s not love. Also, they’ve been sleeping on the floor, fighting, they’ve already had sex once, they’re covered in blood, and sweat, and filth, and they skip a shower and go right into tongue time. That’s an ick for me. I could have appreciated a nice hard romp against the wall or a bulkhead… But they were filthy… And not a good way.

Also, at the end, I was super ‘shipping Nikolai and the big red guy.

…and what happened to Cricket?

This is the first book I have read by Anna but, it won’t be the last.
I love the characters of Astra and Tareq. I thought that Astra was gutsy and brave, whilst Tareq was a sweetie, who wanted to do the right thing.
I loved the little touches that made me laugh, especially with the lizardman and when the Panda calmly eats the bamboo in a tricky situation.
Even though they weren’t in the story that much, I really liked Tareq’s team mates. Anna needed very few words to convey their personalities, quirks and camaraderie. This made me super excited to read the next book in the series.

Adorable

I really enjoyed this alien romance. Cricket was so adorable, I wish they could have kept him as their little mascot. I loved Astra and her tiger alien and getting to meet his whole team. The way they interacted together was great 🤣

I thought the creepy Lizardman and Nikolai were pretty cool. I liked that both of them stood up and helped out the rest of the creatures stay safe when under fire. And that Lizardman was willing to keep Astra safe. I can't wait for Nikolai's book! He seemed like such a wholesome dude who just wants to be a medic 🥺

I can't wait to read the rest of the series and see each one get their HEAs. Maybe we'll get to see some of these creatures/aliens again.

Neither character was particularly relatable or charismatic. The choices they made seemed incongruous to their interests and the situation they found themselves in. I found both of them stupid and annoying. They both also made rapid and wild leaps of logic (he is being professional in order to help us escape so he must hate me now. Huh?).
And goodie, conflict based on miscommunication 🙄

Also it was boring by and dragged on. Not for me.

Alien (tiger man). Tail. No virgins. Escape/rescue. No OMD/OWD. No breakup. No cheating. No epilogue. No pregnancy/birth.

I enjoyed My Alien Cellmate by Anna Svoboda. Astra is human abducted by aliens from a rather sordid life. Next to her cell is a tiger striped male with whom she is paired by her captors as a pregnant slave commands more at auction. Tareq is there to bring down the slavers but first must escape lockup so he can comm his crew. Along the way, he and Astra find love and fight off the bad guys. A lot of adventure including crashing on a planet of half humanoid half spider beings. Eww! Great HEA and spiciness!

This was a great series opener that brought together blue collar worker, Astra, and alien undercover cop, Tareq. Sadly, they meet as co-captives to a creepy and unemotional race of beings. This is a well paced and well written adventure romance with humour, character building, fab side characters, an engaging plot and hot chemistry. I really enjoyed the different species of beings and how they worked together to survive. I'm looking forward to diving into the next book to see how the series continues to unfold. Good fun!

I don't know why I continue to read alien abduction romance considering I was terrified of getting abducted by aliens as a kid. Nowadays it's not so scary a thought 🥴🫠😂

This was such a great little read! I got this for free during a SYK event and I'm glad I picked it up. The MMC was such a cinnamon roll and I loved him. The language barrier trope is one of my faves that I never see enough of, too.

If you're looking for an alien abduction romance and an MMC who is clearly not human, this will hit the spot.

This was a really solid alien abduction read. Given how few reviews there are I’m actually really impressed with the writing and how fun it is! It’s honestly way better than your average alien abduction romance. It’s also nothing. Super special but it’s well done and there’s good humor and good MCs. No miscommunication, withholding basic info for too long, MCs feeling “I’m not worthy of love” conflict etc etc. That is what makes it refreshing and well done. It’s a solid read. It’s not 5 stars bc it’s a bit insta for me and doesn’t have that deep character and emotional depth but it is solid. Just isn’t that Zoey Draven or heather fox or heather guerre level of depth you know

My praise to the note in the beginning of the book ,amused me a lot, shows an excelent sense of humor !

A girl is abducted by the grey, bald aliens ….A classic well explored by the author with a great writting style and a side of humor.

Dual Pov,language barriers, the cuttest pet,a mouthy human, a "tiger" alien with a good plot and hot,hot steamy scenes!

This book is the first in what promisses to be an excelent series.

I am very curious to see more of the crew of the SuperNova!

Another new author for me and it was her cover that pulled me in. We meet Astra, a young woman trying to survive before being abducted. She finds herself in a cell with a cat like tall alien. Tareq is on a mission to bring down a trafficking slave ring. He too is a captive and those that hold them, want them to breed!
It was a fun read and a quick one for me. I loved the characters and now look forward to more in this series.

Another captivating novel! This one weaves a compelling tale of intrigue, love, and adventure. I particularly enjoyed the relationship dynamics between Astra and Tareq, which were impressively developed. The depth and complexity of all the characters, not just the leads, truly enriched the story. Each character brought something unique to the table, making the novel even more engaging. It kept me hooked from start to finish. You're an amazing author, Anna!

I really liked this book. I've never read anything from this author before, so I went in blind. The story had enough of a backstory to understand the surrounding plot, and of course, that almost insta-love vibe that we all like in alien/abduction stories. I really liked the FMC; her inner monologue was hilarious.

I loved the buildup towards the spice and the eventual moments they managed to get together.

Holy crap.! I absolutely devoured this book 🥹😅

Our hero was SUCH a gentleman 🥺🥺

The “breeding” is what drew me to it initially. My only complaint is that there wasn’t much of that trope in here. I wish it was more smutty lol …. but the book’s plot, characters, and development were fantastic so I can’t complain too much 😉😉 it was so SUPER action based.

Well done.!!! 👏

I cannot wait for Omni and Felins book 😩😩

Astra and Tareq
I didn't know this author but her book got my attention and I loved it. Astra has a terrible life and it only gets worse when She is abducted by aliens. They do a lot of testing and then She ends up with an humanoid Tiger. Tareq is an undercover agent but ends up getting abducted insted of infiltrating the work force of the slavers space ship. Still he gets in with the help of Astra and Criket they make plans to escape. Its very fluido and fun to read. Its also hot. I liked it!

This book is high paced and the character development of the FMC is a bit fast for my taste. Overall this is a binge award winning story (if I didn't have children commanding my attention, I would've read it cover to cover in one go 😅). I'm in love with the whole crew and can’t wait to read the sequels.
Thank you for writing this!
