This is one of the state guide books written by the Federal Writers Project during the first depression.

While I admit I only fully read the portions related to South Florida, it is a fascinating look at Florida in the late 1930s. Lots of historical information you cannot find elsewhere. Roughly 70 years later, you can see how things have changed that much.
