In partnership with Devolver Digital and Massive Monster, acclaimed writer Alex Paknadel (All Against All, Red Goblin) and Eisner Award–nominated artist Troy Little (Rick and Morty vs. Dungeons & Dragons, Fear & Loathing in Las Vegas) comes a deviously delightful, heretic-smashing excursion into the sprawling cosmology of the worldwide, BAFTA–nominated video game phenomenon that IGN calls "adorably demonic"!
In a land pervaded by cruelty and evil, the most innocent among us—young Lamb, the last of their kind—was selected to become a final dark sacrifice. Their death would forever seal the darkest of the Old Gods from our realm and usher in a new age ruled by the four eldritch Bishops of the Old Faith. So Lamb died . . . then forged a deal of their own.
At the crossroads of eternity, Lamb was met by the imprisoned deity known as the One Who Waits, who revealed the lies and distortions of the false prophets who rule the world above. And so, Lamb was bequeathed the power and responsibilities of the Red Crown and returned to the land of living with unholy powers to exact vengeance and deliver a new cult unto the earth.
2.5 peut-être 3. Je ne sais toujours pas. J'ai adoré ce jeu et je trouve que ce single issue est un bel ajout à ma collection mais je trippe pas tant que ça! Nous verrons bien pour la suite.🧐
this first issue was absolutely delightful. funny, cute, outstanding art, love it! I'm a huge fan of the game and this was a great beginning I can't wait to see go further. a great addition to the universe!
Loved it! The art style is super cute yet dark, just like the game which I love! I also loved that the story follows the same one as the game, but adds more depth and character to The Lamb and their motives! My only complaint is it wasn't long enough! I wanted more! I'll for sure continue this series and hope there will be many more!
This was super interesting to read after being a fan of the game when it first came out. It was different to see the lamb with an *actual* personality rather than just a figure you can project onto. The same with Ratu. I also like that it starts pretty heavy and feels like a "realistic" cult (sorta, not all cults are the same). Sometimes, it was hard to follow along with the pages that were full spread and no panels, so I used my better judgment and skills with reading comics. Otherwise, the comic is interestingly perfect!
For anyone who is a fan of the same titled game, this graphic novel series would be for you. Also for generally everyone who hasn’t played it and wants an inkling of what awaits one. I love that you get such a big insight into the characters who you encounter in the game and how deep the lore actually gets. It is beautiful.
Beware, all video game lovers! The Lamb is here! This comic is fun, cute, still horror and just perfect for all fans of the game. However, I feel that it's for all readers, who look at the cover art and think "I want to experience this". This first volume was excellent and I can't wait for more.
Thank you to NetGalley for the eArc of this comic.
Interesting little story with fun artwork. I'd probably have a stronger appreciation if I was familiar with the video game, but found it to be enjoyable overall. Looking forward to the next installment.
Much like the game, this is an interesting twist to something normal. The art style is excellent, and it is full of vivid scenery, both pastoral and macabre. The story is slow to start, but it gains speed and interest as it progresses. I can't wait for the next one!
and the book does not disappoint. Gorgeous art style that replicates the game and a great fleshing out of the characters - I hope this series has legs and continues for a LONG time with this team.
I read the equivalent of vol 1 (out of the four volumes included in this First Verse) and I genuinely did not follow any sort of story in a way that made me want to continue.
The artwork was stunning, but overwhelmingly difficult to decipher what was happening as someone who comes at it without knowing anything about the story or game.
Thank you to netgalley and the publisher for providing an arc of this book.
3.5. I loved the art style of this one and just thought the lore was incredible. I had already heard of thr game and have since added it to my wishlist. I read a lot of graphic novels and the art on this one really stood out.
