Dirrin is gone, but who took his books? And why? Cleaning up after the last battle and establishing the newly formed Council (Council of Erist?) is hard enough, but when Dirrin’s books turn up missing and a chunk of obsidian with a strangely familiar magical signature is found, how will Suleima and her friends figure this out? When new information about Suleima comes to light, how will her dynamic with her found family change? Rejoin Suleima and her friends as they face a new threat and discover that Dirrin may have only been the beginning.
Elements & the Fae is the second book in The Elemental Series by Jillian Beane. Elements & the Fae pulled me into its world from the beginning. I enjoyed reading Elements & the Fae more than the first book Elements & Flame.
Elements & the Fae was way better than Elements & Flame.
The story just ramped up more with all the many twists and turns that definitely kept me glued to the story keeping me in suspense page after page.
Elements & the Fae was full of surprises that kept popping up and kept the adrenaline flowing quite well. The magic kept the pages turning as well. Oh and let's not forget about the many battles they faced that required the use of their magic.
And speaking of magic there is a new magic floating around and no one seems to know who it belongs to. This magic is causing a lot of chaos. Oh, and we learn something new about Suleima, something that she did not know herself that was very interesting. What a big twist this little bit of info was.
And another thing, is something happening between Suleima and Gage? I should say there may be with all of the growling Gage seems to be doing.
I can’t wait to read more in The Elemental Series to see where the story goes next. I can’t wait to read more about Suleima, Gage, and all the other paranormal creatures. I love the world that was created for The Elemental Series with all the different magical creatures that live together in one world.
I love the plot of the series. The characters are strong as is their friendship. And the best part is they keep growing throughout the series and keep learning from each other.
As the group moves forward to find more about the books and face unknown dangers, we also see a romantic development I was hoping for.
The writing in the first half of the book was a little choppy for me, but I would still recommend reading it.
This was a great story. It has some great characters with a spectacular villian. It's got a plot that will keep you turning pages and a great ending. Cleaning up after the last battle, the group notices that Dirrin's books are gone. Who would take them? They are busy establishing the newly formed Council of Erist, but when the books turn up missing and a chunk of obsidian with a strangely familiar magical signature is found, this puzzles Suleima and her friends. They believe it's a fae that is involved. They end up going to see The Ice Queen hoping for some answers. They come back with no answers but a Pixie to help them. As they investigate they realize who the culprit is and know they have to capture her. The pixie ends up getting injured and the Ice Queen ends up joining them in their fight. Then the villian makes a mistake, she breaks into Gage's pack house and drugs the pack then takes Gage. Now Sulima is mad. How dare they take her mate. If there is one thing Sulima is sure of is that she will get Gage back and set a trap to catch the culprit and put an end to this evil game.
My favorite thing about this series is how the author brings together a myriad of different fantasy/paranormal characters--shamans, werewolves, dragon shifters, etc.--into her worldbuilding and shows how they do, and generally don't, get along. The author did a good job showing the challenge Suleima has of trying to get these creatures to overcome their prejudices and work together.
I absolutely loved seeing Suleima's and Gage's relationship blossom. There was definitely more romance in this book than the previous one. Suleima and Gage are a cute couple and complement each other well. I especially like that Gage is a noble Alpha wolf, which is a refreshing change from the usual arrogant Alpha wolf persona. The author did a good job showing Gage's internal conflict of trying to balance his protective Alpha wolf instincts while recognizing Suleima is a badass who can take care of herself.
Overall, the book is a clean, fun adventure with lots of magic and cool fantasy creatures. I'm definitely looking forward to the next book.
Elements and the Fae is the second book in The Elemental Series. Suleima and friends are still dealing the the aftermath of the battle with Dirrin and now there is a new threat.
The book was a quick, easy read. There is a lot of magic, and we are introduced to the fae. With new characters, come new prejudices. Suleima is is determined that the council will be accepting and give everyone a chance. There is also a bit more romance, but it's all very slow-burn, closed door. In fact I'm not even sure it's fade to black, closed door. It might just be that nothing happened, so it's just a very sweet, clean romance. Finally, there are some surprises in store for Suleima, the ending wraps things up nicely, but there are definitely more questions to be answered. This one was another 4 star book for me!
A well thought out plot with action, adventure, and some mystery to boot. I found the characters even more likable this book, maybe it’s the addition of love between our main characters. I can’t wait until book three comes out.
Together for the best! Care for everyone, no one should be harmed. A strong leader keeps everyone together. I love this book, it radiates a feeling of peace when you help each other.
