Katherine Arthur was a romance novelist from 1985 to 1992. She was full of life. She described herself as a writer, research associate (she works with her husband, a research professor in experimental psychology), farmer, housewife, proud mother of five and a grandmother to boot. The family was defintely full of overachievers. She is also known as Barbara Erickson.
If you've read any of my recommendation for other books, you know I love books filled with genuine humor and friendship between the H/H. This book is a keeper.
Jennifer is an accountant who takes a job managing a cattle range far away from her parents because her mother and father fight all the time and she's sick of it. Her first encounter about her employer Clay is bewildering because she gets different reviews about him from different people that she meets. Some call him grizzly while others call him loving and tender and she reserves judgement.
The first time she meets Clay, he's brought home a colt who's born pre-mature and helps him ( along with the rest of the people at home) to save it. They manage to do so and she is surprised how Clay is just willing to accept her as part of his household.
Its not long before both of them fall in love because their affection is genuine and he's a good looking dude in the bargain but there is slight matter of a huge feud between Clay's brother and himself and how it comes to blow ( and as said before Jenny's sick of fights within the family)....
This is a sweet book - I love the funny way Clay lets Jenny know of his interest - ( a hint - if you anyway liked the movie Hope floats - you'll love this book because the pace is so steady - no force required whatsoever)
