Bella is in a lot of trouble. Her car just died in the middle of a snow storm and her cell phone is dead. Luckily for her there is a knight in not-so-shiny armor to save her. And it just happens that he's an old crush of hers - Michael Wulf. Michael is just as stunned to see Bella, and there's the fact that she's obviously pregnant. He whisks her away to his castle in the mountain to take care of her until she recovers and the storm passes.
Bella's husband was in the process of divorcing her when he died - what kind of a man leaves his pregnant wife. But strangely, she has no issues with it - in fact the husband is rarely mentioned. I find that a bit hard to believe - after all she drastically changed her life for him, cut all of the ties to her past. Granted she had a few months to settle down, but it struck me as odd that she never talked about him.
Michael's childhood has been bad. After an accident that left him crippled his parents gave him up and sent him to foster care. And even when he found a home with Bella and her father he was still alone, other children avoided and ridiculed him. Every child but Bella, she was his angel. Now Michael is a millionaire whose designs change the world, but he shut himself off from everybody, never lets anyone comes near him. But there's Bella to whom he owns a debt, a debt he intends to pay and then forget about her.
There are some great moments in the book - Bella's labor and Michael help during it, their interactions with little Emily, especially gruff Michael who melts when she's near. And the times they spent alone, when you can just see Michael slowly opening up to the possibility of friendship and love.
I don't have major complaints about the book, but there was just something that was off. In some instances Michael, who lets other people influence him more than he should. Or maybe Bella, or the rather slow pace of the book, I simply can't say.
It's OK, lots of repetitions. I didn't like how th author took the coward's way out and does not call out her friend who's been mean to him before and is still being so. Why sugar coat it? Shouldn't someone stand up for him sometime?
The heroine Isabella is travelling back to her home town hoping to make a new life for herself and her baby when her car breaks down in a snowstorm. She is rescued by the hero Michael, whom takes her to his home to recover. Michael has never forgotten the love and shelter Isabella and her father gave him as a teenager when they took him in after he had run away from the children's home he had been living in. Looking after Bella is a way for him to finally repay the debt he believes he owes them, but he wasn't expecting to be snowed in with her, or that he would have to deliver her baby when Bella goes into labour. And he definitely wasn't expecting to find the grown up Bella so alluring. Bella has always been a little bit in love with Michael, and she is really proud that he has made such a success out of himself, but she fears that he hides himself away too much, afraid to open his heart after the trauma of his childhood. She wants him to open up to her, but Michael can't and fears that he is growing too attached to Bella and her little girl, wishing that they belonged to him, so his only way of dealing is to push her away.
This is a very quick and easy read, but enjoyable all the same. There is a lot of emoiton written into the story, from both the hero and heroine's individual backgrounds, and their developing relationship. The book has a nice flow and the love between the characters built slowing, and that made it feel very real. The hero is a wonderful character, so well developed he is open and warm yet also complex, he definitely deserves his happy ending. My only complaint is that the 'black moment' came from Michael overhearing a couple of bitchy women gossiping about him - for me, it felt a little too trivial to make an impact. This book is a much gentler style of Desire than some of the more recent ones, and I actually prefer this type (the older ones).
A very pleasing book, well written with a genuine-feeling love story.
This was a great book and i loved it so much. It was also my 100th book of the year. I'm so glad I changed my mind and kept this book.
Isabella Spencer, Bella to her friend Michael Wulf, who saves her during an October snow store one day, is an expecting mother and when she was younger her dad took a runaway Michael into their home until her dad died.
Michael has never had it easy and he’s never given easy either until Bella comes back into his life. He was coming home during the storm and found her. He took her back to his home so she could get warmed up and be safe during the violent weather.
The snow isn’t letting up and there is no way to get to the hospital when she finally goes into labor a month early. Michael is there even though he’s scared too, he doesn’t show it. That morning changes their lives as Emily is born because he doesn’t want to let go of either of them.
Michael is secluded however and it takes a lot of time for things to start changing in his ways. He eats alone, which changed drastically at thanksgiving when he showed up to a dinner party at one of the few friends he has that never made fun of him because of his limb.
Michael does so much for Bella and Emily and it was wonderful to watch them grow from friends to a family in this book.
I wasn’t a fan of Molly, Bella’s friend at all. She almost drove away what Michael had going for him by what she had said. She brought nothing to this book, but the rest of the characters were great.
The ending was perfect and I was happy that they got to be a family final
This is a combination second chance romance and fairy tale revamp.
The story moved along quickly, there were some sexy time and of course the HEA. Certainly well-written and a super fast read.
What sort of freaked me out was how she's ready for those sexy times a couple of weeks after giving birth. I know we're all different and I suppose it's not unheard of but....
The tech stuff was amusing. No doubt cutting edge and oooh, that'd-be-cool when it was published (Nest thermostat, anyone?) but the Palm Pilot reference dates it.
I read this a while back and still remember being impressed. It had the 'wow' factor and it grabbed your attention right away. I loved that the hero was grumpy and unorthodox but when he was around the baby and heroine he was a changed man for the better. It was a last impression reading this novel, loved it!

Love makes us human and m. Wulf needed all the love could get. Words do matter to young people .do be aware of how our words can impact another human.m. Wulf felt he wasn't worthy of love but he got all he could desire in the end
It’s been years since I’ve read a novel from this harlequin line, they always seem too old school. But I needed an author with LW initials for a challenge and I love Laura Wright’s paranormal romance so I dove in. This was a really sweet book. I love the grumpy hero/cheerful heroine trope and this hit that perfectly. Snowed in, early baby arrival and small town fun made for a really enjoyable book.
Pregnant and stuck in the middle of nowhere with a broken down car wasn't something she expected nor wanted for Isabella. She was on her way to her old hometown to start a new life but somehow got stuck in the cold. A familiar face in the name of Michael Wulf, one of the known available rich bachelor in the country, came to rescue her from the harsh snow.
Shortly after, Isabella gave birth to her daughter, Emily, and that unexpectedly change Michael's routine as they were stuck together in his mansion in an amount of time due to the sudden storm that have gotten worse. Due to their, especially his, past; they tried to live with each other and bear each other's company. Overtime, their herats tugged for each other but Michael fought it off, trying to push her away for Isablella and Emily's own good.
This is good quickie for me. The characters interacted with each other well, emotionally tugging. The plots actually pulled you in. I've enjoyed reading this one and I'm not into reading romances either.

Read this one quite some time ago. Just cam across it while I was looking through my books for something else to read and thought I would score it while I actually remembered.
I read this a week ago, and don't remember anything, really: it was a quick read, but I wasn't super impressed, and I can't remember why I wanted to read it in the first place.
