All magic comes at a cost... and the time has come to pay the ultimate price.
In the epic conclusion to Zoe Perrenoud's The Bloodlender Trilogy, Sophie finds herself caught between her father's dangerous schemes and a rising dark force that threatens to expose the Bloodlender community and shatter their peace forever.
As tensions rise, old grudges resurface, and the Gods demand their tribute, she and her friends must undertake a treacherous mission to safeguard their future and prevent a catastrophic war between science and magic.
Will Sophie embrace her purpose and rewrite the fate of her people before it's too late?
I received an Advance Reader Copy of this book and decided to leave a review as I really enjoyed it!
Riftmender is the gripping finale in the Bloodlender series. The author really brings this world of magic to life and I was hooked right from start to finish. I couldn't put it down! I can't wait to see what she writes next.
I was anxious to read book 3, and it did not disappoint! There were so many burning questions at the end of the first 2 books, and I'm happy to report all of them were satisfied in the finale.
Sophie is taken through the ringer leading into this volume, and it's when she turns off the dozens of voices trying to influence her she finds both her stride and the solutions she needs to save herself and her kind. From the little details to important coming of age lessons we all can relate to, Zoé Perrenoud did a phenomenal job of bring Sophie and her friends to life.
From first loves to new loves. The family she thought she had morphing into the one Sophie never knew she needed. Learning that she has to accept herself in order to be free.
By the end, you realize nothing was ever as it seemed from the beginning—and sometimes you must be careful not to assign the roll of villain in haste...because we are all the villain in somebody's story.
New scenes moved the plot along, with new allies helping Sophie find her way back where she belongs. The tension between her friends—Léa, Sigrid, Alva, Xavier, and Romain—and their often conflicting ideas on what it means to help Sophie reclaim her future keep you guessing on who ultimately knows what is happening.
And don't forget those pesky Gods, always sticking their noses where they don't belong and threatening to be Sophie's undoing.
I really enjoyed the character development in this third book, especially of those characters that are mixed good and evil, so you keep wondering which side they’ll end up on. The love triangle works well. I also liked the Indiana Jones style challenges that happen early in the novel – those were fun! The twists and turns of the complex plot will keep you guessing till the end. A great finale to the Bloodlender series.
This was an amazing and satisfying conclusion to the story of Sophie and it gave me everything I wanted. I wish the author all the best in her future writing! This was an amazing series and I am so happy I stumbled upon it! I'm looking forward to Ms. Perrenoud's future books!
