"Utopia, once created, cannot long endure the onslaught of human nature."
The Great Destruction brought Earth to its knees. As centuries passed, humanity grew into the near-utopian realm of Tartica, founded on free love, dedicated to living off nature, and committed to repopulating civilization. Living the dream, Reyne's only desire is to marry Mithany, raise a family, and reap the promise of a simple life.
But Reyne's hopes are shattered when assassins from the parallel domain of Evidar, a brutal world condemned to exist forever in darkness, arrives on Tartica just days before his wedding... and mark him for death. Elsewhere, benevolent leaders guiding Tartica's ideal society succumb to dark ambitions based on tainted promises and spark events that threaten to set millennia of cultural harmony ablaze.
As Reyne refuses to accept that he alone can pass through the Void to a parallel realm—that he doesn't believe exists—to kill its leader, secrets are revealed, lies are laid bare, and what cannot be real... is.
Driving everything towards chaos, the Devil's Blacksmit h, Evidar's master manipulator, has secrets of his own and will stop at nothing to secure salvation and to free his world from its perpetual darkness at the expense of Reyne's life and Tartica's existence.

This book is great for those who love Sci-Fi books that are futuristic, focused on politics and religion, with multiple POVs. There is also a little bit of romance and other relationships throughout the book. We are introduced to several groups of people as well as factions that support the plot of the book.
The concept of this book is very interesting to me. While I was excited about the idea of a plot about parallel timelines of Earth, highly-trained assassins, sprinkled with a bit of romance, I felt it difficult to follow along with the story at times and the dialogue to be somewhat confusing. The banter and conversation between Mithany and Arek felt off to me, what truly is the nature of their relationship? (Maybe there's more to it than we understand? Not sure). I also felt that the paragraphs were too long and repetitive. One concept would be covered in a paragraph, then seemingly rephrased and rewritten in the next. It made it difficult to keep my attention.
I'm curious what decisions Reyne will make from now on, and what becomes of Tomelai's decisions. I feel that each of these characters have a lot more to tell, and am sure we will discover so much more in the next installment of this Saga.
Thank you to Netgalley, the author, and publishing company for a copy of this ARC in exchange for my honest review.
"Utopia Falling: A Darkness Rises" written by the author R.C. Vielee is the first book in the Utopia Falling Saga. The main character of the story is Reyne Brenton. He is eager to begin his new life with Mithany and was looking forward to his wedding. For the past year, he has been living with his fraternal twin brother Daedyn and his future wife Mithany.
There is another world Evidar. It's a world forever in darkness. Mister Lesni was given the task by Devil's Blacksmith to kill Reyne as he has the potential to change the trajectory of the two timelines. Blacksmith has given the responsibility to Mister Lesni as he knows that Lesni prepared and assisted Dylla and her team in getting to that other version of Earth.
Reyne is missing. His brother is looking for the doctor and Reyne as he needs medical assistance. Read this story to know will Reyne be able to marry Mithany.
The writing style of the author is nice. The story plot kept me on the edge of my seat. The language used in the book is lucid. The cover photo is well designed. I am glad to get my hands on this book. Go ahead without any second thoughts.
With the destruction of Earth, a utopian society has been built, Tartica, with possibility of not being a utopian liked desired the people go on missions to kill the people who threaten the peace. But is it really peace that is trying to be maintained? Reyne life is simple as a peanut famer and only wishes to marry Mithany but his life is suddenly thrown into chaos. This chaos shakes up every else close to him, all trying to keep him and themselves safe. All because he has the power to jump between realms, a power he didn’t even know he had.
“Utopia Falling” by R.C. Vielee is a super-fast paced book. I gave it a 3 out of 5 because the number of characters and POV’s while kept the story quick was too much for me to learn and really get into. I would have liked it better if you got to know each character at a slower pace. The cover art is very nice though and drew me to read the book.
In the small village of Hensdale, two brothers Reyne and Daedyn live. Reyne and Daedyn lost their parents too soon. Reyne now wants to have a family. He wanted to marry Mithany, have kids with her and live with his elder brother.
Reyne's plans were however interrupted by the evil Devil Blacksmith. He saw Reyne as a threat and an interruption in his plans. Mister Lesni was assigned the responsibility to kill Reyne. What would happen when assassins from Evidar would enter Tartica just days before his wedding.
The storyline is intriguing. This is an unputdownable book. The backdrop setting is done well by the author. The characters are well and Reyne's character is my favourite from the story. The world building is impressive and I appreciate the author's vivid imagination in it. Add this book to your tbr.
This book was well written but could use some deeper characters and less politics. For me I am character and story driven and the I feel the machinations took over this novel leaving me wanting on the rest of the story.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Thanks to NetGalley and Victory Editing NetGalley Co-op for the advance listeners' copy.
I feel really bad because the worldbuilding is interesting, and the idea of the plot intrigues me, but I just struggled to finish this. It might just be the narration style, but I had trouble telling the many characters apart. They all sounded the same. Especially when the plot involves the political machinations of multiple characters, it makes the story hard to follow. I'd like to go back to this with a physical copy someday and see if that helps.
BOOK REVIEW- Utopia Falling is an electrifying introduction to a dystopian saga that expertly blends elements of love, magic, political intrigue, and thrilling suspense. The novel stands at the crossroads of multiple genres, offering something for fans of science fiction, fantasy, and drama alike. The narrative is as ambitious as it is engaging, and it sets a strong foundation for the trilogy to come.
The story takes place in the realm of Tartica, a world rebuilt centuries after the cataclysmic fall of Earth. The new society reflects a mix of both the virtues and vices of human nature: love, unity, hard work, and friendship exist alongside greed, betrayal, and corruption. This duality creates a rich tapestry of conflict and drama, where the pursuit of power and political maneuvering often lead to chaotic consequences. The societal structure is thoughtfully constructed, and the author's world-building skills are on full display. From the intricacies of Tartica's map to the glossary of terms, every detail is meticulously crafted, providing readers with a sense of depth and immersion.
At the heart of the story is Reyne, a seemingly ordinary nut farmer with dreams of a quiet life—until he discovers that he harbors extraordinary powers and a pivotal role in Tartica's future. Reyne is a reluctant hero, often frustratingly unaware of his significance, but that very quality is what makes him endearing. His journey from naivety to self-realization is both compelling and relatable, and readers will find themselves rooting for him, even when his actions seem frustratingly hesitant. The supporting characters are equally well-developed, with a mix of allies and antagonists whose motives remain shrouded in mystery.
The plot is packed with unexpected twists, adding layers of tension that keep the story moving at a brisk pace. The author's ability to surprise and captivate is evident throughout, particularly as Reyne is pulled deeper into a web of intrigue and danger. Just when it seems like the pieces might fall into place, the story shifts direction, leaving the reader eagerly anticipating what will happen next. The climax is particularly thrilling, with a conclusion that promises an even greater unraveling of secrets and a deeper dive into Tartica's complex world in the sequels.
The inclusion of a map and glossary is a thoughtful touch, helping readers keep track of the various locations, characters, and mystical concepts introduced throughout the book. These additions, along with the vivid descriptions and immersive storytelling, make Utopia Falling a highly engaging and accessible read.
In summary, Utopia Falling is a captivating first entry in a promising trilogy. It combines strong world-building with a complex, evolving narrative that keeps readers on the edge of their seats. The book has something for everyone—action, suspense, romance, and a deep dive into the complexities of human nature. Fans of dystopian and speculative fiction will find much to enjoy here, and it’s a must-read for anyone looking for a thrilling new series to sink into.

Utopia Falling: A Darkness Rises, by R. C. Vielee, offers a riveting journey through a dystopian fantasy world, intricately woven with themes of resilience, the eternal struggle between light and darkness, and the immense sacrifices necessary for the survival of entire worlds. Set in the aftermath of Earth's Great Destruction, the novel introduces us to Tartica, a society that has emerged as a beacon of free love and harmony with nature. However, beneath its utopian veneer, Tartica grapples with the corrupting influence of power and the erosion of its once-cherished values.
At the heart of the narrative is Reyne, a humble farmer whose yearning for a simple life with Mithany is shattered by the looming threat of assassins from the menacing realm of Evidar. Reyne's character is masterfully crafted, embodying the journey from naivety to a pivotal force within Tartica. His internal struggles and unexpected responsibilities resonate deeply, offering a compelling portrait of a relatable hero thrust into extraordinary circumstances. The novel explores the dichotomy between Reyne's longing for simplicity and the complex destiny awaiting him, enriched by the depiction of Tartica's leaders. Once virtuous, these figures succumb to dark desires, illustrating the fragile nature of goodness when confronted with deceit and ambition. This theme of moral decay is counterbalanced by the narrative arc of the Devil's Blacksmith in Evidar, a character shrouded in mystery and manipulation. His relentless quest for power, even at the cost of others' well-being, paints a morally ambiguous picture of an antagonist driven by a distorted vision of salvation.
Utopia Falling: A Darkness Rises is a mesmerizing tale that skillfully intertwines love, betrayal, and the exploration of alternate realms. The novel's pace and world-building are both accessible and engaging, making it a standout addition to the dystopian fantasy genre. With its richly developed characters and intricate plot, R. C. Vielee's creation is not just a story of a clash between utopia and darkness; it is an examination of the limits of freedom and the enduring power of the human spirit in the face of overwhelming odds.

Review:
👉Dive into the captivating world of Utopia Falling: A Darkness Rises by R.C. Vielee, where the echoes of Earth's devastation have given birth to a society teetering on the brink of perfection. 🌎✨
👉In the aftermath of the Great Destruction, humanity finds solace and hope in Tartica, a realm built upon the pillars of free love, harmony with nature, and the dream of rebuilding civilization. At its core lies Reyne Brenton, a simple nut farmer whose aspirations for a tranquil existence are shattered when assassins from the shadowy realm of Evidar mark him for death, threatening to unravel the fragile fabric of his idyllic world. 💔💥
👉As Reyne grapples with his newfound destiny and the encroaching darkness, Vielee masterfully guides us through a labyrinth of intrigue and betrayal. With deft strokes, the author paints a vivid tapestry of a society at the precipice, where the forces of good and evil collide in a symphony of chaos and redemption. 🎨📖
👉Through Reyne's journey, we are thrust into a world brimming with complex characters and moral dilemmas. From the enigmatic Mister Lesni to the malevolent Devil's Blacksmith, each figure leaves an indelible mark on the reader, challenging us to question the nature of power, sacrifice, and the human condition itself. 🎭🔍
👉But it is not just the characters that breathe life into this tale; it is the meticulously crafted world of Tartica itself. With its lush landscapes, vibrant cultures, and intricate political machinations, Vielee invites us to immerse ourselves fully in a realm both familiar and alien, where every corner holds secrets waiting to be uncovered. 🗺️🌟
👉Accompanied by a detailed map and glossary, Utopia Falling: A Darkness Rises is more than a book; it is an odyssey into the heart of imagination. With each turn of the page, we are transported deeper into a world of wonder and peril, where the line between dreams and nightmares blurs, and the true meaning of heroism is revealed. 📚🌌
In his debut work, R.C. Vielee tells an intriguing and multidimensional story that is equal parts love story, dystopian sci-fi thriller, and mystical and scientific. This story, the first in what promises to be an exciting three-book series, is full of odd twists and surprises.
The plot is set in the realm of Tartica, millennia after Earth was destroyed. Humans have rebuilt, creating a world that reflects both the virtues and vices of the twenty-first century. Tartica lives on hard work, love, friendship, and unity, but it also suffers from money, political intrigue, treachery, and murder. This combination of good and evil lays the groundwork for unavoidable chaos.
Reyne, a simple nut farmer with unknown abilities and a tremendous destiny is central to the plot. Reyne is a reluctant hero whose journey to self-discovery is both endearing and, at times, frustrating. His evolution is characterized by charm and vulnerability, making him a likable and intriguing protagonist. As Reyne travels his path, sinister forces gather around him. Various factions with hidden intentions collide, with some directly attacking Reyne and others engaging in larger plots that would eventually lure him in.
Vielee’s unique writing shines through in the two narratives that intertwine. The depth of character development and rich background elements enrich the story, laying the groundwork for grasping the plot’s complexities.
However, the novel is not without defects. Some readers may find the plot difficult to follow at times, and the dialogues may be unclear. The relationship between the characters is vague, which may lead readers to question its genuine nature. Furthermore, the writing style can be repetitive, with themes repeated in consecutive paragraphs, which may disrupt the flow and make it difficult to maintain focus.
Despite these minor drawbacks, R.C. Vielee’s debut novel stands out for its originality and creativity.

A Cinematic Fantasy That Dares to Ask: What If Utopia Isn't Enough?
R.C. Vielee’s Utopia Falling: A Darkness Rises reads like a blockbuster—sweeping, intense, and emotionally rich. It’s the kind of fantasy novel that doesn’t just build worlds—it challenges them. It poses a chilling question: what happens when paradise becomes the battleground?
The story opens in Tartica, a breathtaking, post-apocalyptic society that has risen from the ashes of humanity’s mistakes. It's a world of unity, ecological balance, and open-hearted ideals. But beneath this surface of peace is the looming threat of Evidar, a dying parallel realm steeped in shadows, where power is everything and survival trumps morality.
At the center of the storm is Reyne, a man torn between his simple hopes for love and family, and the heavy burden of fate that demands he become a hero. When secrets unravel and betrayals come from within, Reyne is pulled into a war he never wanted—but one that could decide the future of both worlds.
What Makes It Special
🎬 Feels Like a Film – Vielee writes with a visual, almost cinematic style. You see the cities, feel the tension, and live the action. ⚔ Action with a Pulse – Swordfights, espionage, and dimensional travel are delivered with urgency, but never at the expense of story. 🧩 Mystery at Every Turn – The presence of cryptic figures like the “Devil’s Blacksmith” adds a sense of myth and legend that keeps you guessing. 💔 Emotionally Grounded – Reyne’s internal struggle is as compelling as the external chaos. His relationship with Mithany gives the story real emotional weight.
The Takeaway
⭐ Rating: 4.6/5 If you're a fan of fantasy that blends the philosophical depth of Le Guin, the gritty realism of Abercrombie, and the world-hopping ambition of Brandon Sanderson, then Utopia Falling is your next obsession.
This isn't just good-versus-evil. It’s hope versus despair, vision versus fear, and the terrifying realization that even the best worlds are built on fragile ground.
Gripping. Emotional. Unforgettable. This is only the beginning—and it already feels legendary.
The storyline of this book sounded intriguing to me, because it sounded like I could expect fantasy, political machinations, and a bit of romance sprinkled into the parallel timelines. While rich in scope and thematic depth, the novel ventures into complex territories that may challenge some readers' engagement. (It did mine!)
The novel introduces a diverse array of characters and factions, each pivotal to the evolving plot centered on Earth's parallel timelines. Set against a backdrop of political intrigue and religious fervor, the narrative weaves together the lives of highly-trained assassins, romantic entanglements, and the interplay of conflicting ideologies.
At its core, the concept of parallel Earth timelines and the clandestine world of assassins holds immense allure. However, the execution occasionally falters, especially in the clarity of dialogue and character relationships. There is a LOT of freaking characters to keep track of! I need a chart! The banter between Mithany and Arek, while intended to reveal deeper complexities, often feels disjointed and ambiguous, leaving readers questioning the true nature of their connection. Didn't Mithany ONLY want to marry Reyne? Structurally, the novel's pacing is hindered by lengthy and occasionally repetitive paragraphs.
Despite these challenges, the novel excels in its character development, particularly with protagonists like Reyne and Tomelai. Their internal conflicts and external decisions drive the narrative forward, leaving readers intrigued about their future trajectories. Each character possesses untapped potential, hinting at deeper revelations and developments in subsequent installments of the saga. In the end, I was left feeling grateful it was over and unsure if I cared if the story continued or not. It was not bad; it just didn't leave me waiting for more, either.
New author R.C. Vielee's debut book was an extremely enjoyable read. This first book of a three-book saga is part love story, party dystopian Sci-Fi thriller, part magic show and science exposition, with plenty of twists and surprises, and an exciting climax that left me looking forward to next year's release of Book 2.
In the realm of Tartica, where much of the story takes place, mankind has rebounded centuries after Earth's destruction and rebuilt a new world around a common belief. All the good present in our 21st Century world can be found alive and well in Tartica. Hard work, love, romance, friendship, religion, unity. All the bad things have survived, too. Greed for power, political machination, backstabbing, betrayal, treachery, murder. Just like today, when these two streams converge on Tartica, mayhem ensues.
The plot revolves around Reyne, a humble nut farmer with dreams of his own. He's unaware of the special powers he possesses and his role in Tartica's future, a kind of reluctant hero. As another reviewer noted, at times I found myself wanting to give him a swift kick in the butt! But that's part of Reyne's charm and character arc. Meanwhile, as he's journeying to understanding, around him dark forces are swirling. Some of the schemers have their sights set on him, while others are involved in subterfuge that you sense will eventually envelop Reyne, too. All the fun makes for a compelling story.
The book includes a Map and a Glossary. They have an impressive amount of detail, and helped me keep track of the characters, concepts and locations as the plot unfolded.

Vievlee's telling of battle scenes, action, intrigue, multiple plot twists, corruption, assassination, and the fragile existence of their world is thrilling to say the least. A masterfully written book, and I can't wait to see what happens in book 2 and 3. I am invested in the story and characters and must know what happens next. Lastly, readers MUST know there's a map of their world, a glossary of the rules of their society (I call it their Constitution), AND another Glossary/Pronunciation/Translation Guide, which I absolutely love. Mr. Vielee has mastered his craft and I highly recommend this book.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ – Utopia Falling: A Darkness Rises is a gripping blend of fantasy, suspense, and emotional depth, perfect for fans of dystopian and epic fantasy sagas.
I was really intrigued by the premise of Utopia Falling: A Darkness Rises – the idea of a fragile utopia under threat from a parallel world sounded right up my street. There’s definitely a lot of ambition here, and I can see why fantasy fans are enjoying it.
That said, I personally struggled to connect with the story. The world-building is imaginative, but at times it felt a bit heavy and I found myself drifting. Reyne as a main character didn’t fully grab me, I wanted to root for him, but he felt a little flat compared to the big ideas happening around him.
What I did like was the contrast between Tartica and Evidar – light vs darkness, hope vs corruption and there were moments where the tension really worked. The Devil’s Blacksmith is a brilliant concept, and some of the twists towards the end definitely pulled me back in.
Overall, it’s a solid start to a trilogy, but for me it was more of a “good, not great” read. I think readers who enjoy darker epic fantasy and heavier world-building will probably get more out of it than I did.
This book includes: - a small-town farmer who may be more than meets the eye - parallel universes/multiverse? - multiple POVs - a clash between religion and politics/religious leaders and politicians - intertwined storylines
"Utopia Falling" is an interesting concept. It challenges you to think beyond the bounds of a singular universe. While the storyline is compelling, I found that the writing style was just not for me. There were many moments where statements were repeated numerous times, even within a single paragraph. It was, unfortunately, too distracting for me to enjoy the story. The audiobook was well narrated, with good pacing and a pleasant voice.
I received this audiobook as an ARC in exchange for an honest review. Thank you to NetGalley and R.C. Vielee for the opportunity to review this book.
As a quite novice Sci-Fi reader this book had a lot for me to sink my teeth into, it has romance, science, politics and multiple POVs with interweaving story lines. The narration of the audiobook was great but some passages felt quite repetitious to me but overall I was engaged. I think the sheer amount of characters and nature of the book had me struggling to fully get the best experience out of the book and I did wonder whether having a physical copy of the book would have improved this. Overall, it is a great story but I do not believe I am the intended audience but nevertheless I would recommend it to those who are a fan of the genre.
Thank you to NetGalley and R. C. Vielee for the opportunity to listen to this audiobook.
The story kicks off after the Great Destruction in the nearly perfect world of Tartica. Just before Reyne’s wedding, assassins from the parallel world of Evidar try to kill him, starting an exciting conflict.
The plot is complex and keeps me excited enough to finish the audiobook in 2 days! The characters are well-developed, and the author skillfully connects different storylines. The world-building is vivid plus the face pace (huge credit to the narrator), I feel like I’m right there in Tartica and Evidar.
Overall, I’m excited to read the next installation of the series and will recommend this book.
