Picked up at random - the only English-language book on a hostel's shelves. True story of a former fighter pilot's 1940s journey to South Africa in a small plane. It's a strange, often unintentionally funny blend of old-fashioned views and language (anybody who isn't British gets roundly patronised) and po-faced mysticism (the author subscribed to a pseudo-philosophical religious cult). The results are certainly distinctive.
