A good, simple book for a layperson being introduced to the doctrines of grace.

I do think there’s room for the moderate/classical Calvinist view of limited atonement that is not presented (and outright ignored) in this book. But that’s a small quibble.

Overall, easy to read and enjoyable.

In "Before the Foundation of the World" Jeff Riddle makes a convincing case for the five-points of Calvinism / the doctrines of grace. He digs into many scripture texts with varied levels of depth, engages with the historic expressions of the doctrines and wrestles with common objections and misrepresentations. This book would be good to give to a friend that was not a "Calvinist" or to simply read for yourself to refresh your mind with the scriptural and confessional account of God's glorious plan of redemption.

Excellent primer on the Reformed teachings of the Doctrines of Grace. Dr. Riddle brings a fresh and recovered view of what historical Calvinism really is. He handles the positive teaching and the objections to the Doctrines of Grace well. This is a must have for anyone who is reformed (more in particular, reformed Baptist :) ).

This was a lovely introduction to the doctrines of grace. I’d recommend this book to anyone looking for a place to begin or a helpful and brief biblical reminder of these doctrines.
