Mav & Ava!!!
Maverick gets signed up for the class by his friends - who know Ava. He's met her before & really liked her, but she shot him down. Ava really likes Maverick but he just reminds her too much of her ex.
They really clash ! But ohmy, are the sparks between them hot! Maverick really does open up & Ava finally let's go a little, and then the real sparks happen!
Great book

I'm totally in love with Ava and Maverick's story. A true enemies to lovers romance with slot of banter. Two stubborn people, but when it gets hot then sparks fly. Totally recommend to contemporary romance lovers.

Holiday romance and enemies to lovers—it’s perfect combination. This is book two in the Book Builders series and takes place at the same time as the first book. So Ava and her girlfriends start a business to turn men into the perfect book boyfriends. I loved Ava’s character and the growth she experiences in this story. Ava was married and it ended badly she has her walls up and is very guarded. In her class we meet Maverick. You kind of want to hate him with his personality but the way he says ‘Princess’ will have you feeling other ways. These two together so much chemistry!

This is the Book Boyfriend Builder part deux, courtesy of Carolina Jax. AK Landow had kicked off this series, and hot on her heels is Carolina with Ava and Maverick's story. Of course, just like AK's book, "Making the Book Boyfriend" starts where the four Book Boyfriend Builders are together at a book conference and concoct the crazy idea of creating a business to help men and women to become better book boyfriends. When Ava heads home and begins sifting through applications, color her surprised when she knows one of the wannabe book boyfriends. She's met Maverick before and to say that it didn't necessarily go well would be an understatement.
As the story unfolds, the enemies-to-lovers trope is in full effect. The reasons for the butting heads and animosity becomes more apparent. The ultimate result? Well, ladies and gents, this is really where Carolina shines. When it comes to the smoldering parts, Carolina never disappoints. Talk about combustion. I think my hair is still singed from this one. Phewww. ... actually, could you... could you just blow on me a little? Spritz me with some water? The flames might still be going after I hit about the 50% mark in this book and the hot flashes did not stop after that until I got to the end. So to say that the second half of this book was my favorite? Yeah, it really, really was my favorite.

My first book by Carolina Jax and I'm kicking myself for it only just now being my first. This book had me literally swooning at every turn with Maverick. That man is the perfect book boyfriend. I think I actually had real hearts in my eyes or those little bubble hearts that float around cartoon characters. Ava is one lucky woman. But her compassion and drive and adoration for the others and wanting to help them. I loved it so much. Everything about this book was picture perfect. Also, that door lean Mav does...can I just get a gif of that to play over and over? I melted!!!!

Great enemies to friends to lovers storyline with enjoyable main characters and side characters. It takes place at the same time as the first book in the series. I enjoyed how both main characters worked to overcome their insecurities and help others with theirs as well.

Magnolia point has all Maverick needs except a woman who fills his needs . He’s not greedy he’ll sate her too. That ain’t all he’d like to do but what’s the point when she’s not having a bar of him and oh she’d look nice sitting on his bar ahem…Ava fancies Maverick just as much as he does she but he’s too much like her ex and that spells trouble with a capital T . He works for Parker & Sons HVAC his best friend Jay and his cousin Wes is in charge of the business . He knows for a fact that Jay and Nina are back from vacation and are about to impart some news. But he knows what it is already. The newly engaged couple turn up at his place all loved up and shoving it in his face. A perfect test they say , a sort of investment in his future . Perhaps it will if he’s the right suitor…Bella Valentino , the name is pure music to his ears , the one who got away due to her fears not his. Her real name Jay just relayed is Ava , Nina relayed the Book Boyfriend business and said don’t scoff it , it’s how she got Jay. Jay says check it out man , give yourself a chance. Ava is still getting used to what they’ve done , and is ready to take a step into the unknown dance. Only she may be surprised of the outcome…Nina talked her into this ….Maverick McKinney , enters her china shop , the proverbial bull , she’s met him before and he was certainly bullish as well as handsome and funny . He expects to get dates that all clingy and sunny and he has a frat bad boy vibe , ready to imbibe. “I am definitely hot for teacher!” But she’s not unsuspecting she knows his game . But is she game or will she be after she’s learnt all about all three? “Shouldn’t you be dressed differently? I imagined today’s class being taught by Britney Spears, circa 1998.” Raising a brow but otherwise keeping a straight face …”Gentlemen, thank you for joining me today. I’ll start off by saying my friends and I are pleasantly surprised at the response for Book Boyfriend Builders and look forward to learning right along with you. “I saw that video. Four drunk chicks thinking they can hypnotize men into doing what they want. You’re a little late sweetheart. That class has been sold already. It’s called ‘Power of a Good Pussy’. Well this boy and his wood , Ava thinks is no good , she may just have to prove she’s the woman to ‘ take him in hand ‘ . Won’t he be surprised when he’s got stars in his eyes..Perhaps this time they can do the biz and not leave him flat without any fizz… you get the gist. Maverick is deflated when he hasn’t even dated and has to say sorry with his tail between his legs . What is it about the opposite sex. “I can get a date on my own,” he replies with resentment. “Your friends think otherwise. So tell me, how’s the dating scene been working out for you?” Called out and he’s left to dry. Ava Costa just scored a try or is it a touchdown ? Whichever it is he’s going down. This is great banter and the air is buzzing. It’s not the only thing as the sexual tension,is about to explode . We’re talking mother lode and it’s going to be divine. When each can finally eke out and shout he/she’s mine. And don’t they have a good time going through the actions with various distractions to boot. This is one heck of a love story and an awesome comedy , it’s a hoot! Brilliant penmanship by Carolina Jax. The prose on the nose the storytelling sublime. This reader sure had a good time! Served like a kipper or glass slipper . It was awesome! And that’s handsome!

Okay, okay, this was an absolutely wonderful second part to this interconnected bookish boyfriend builder series, and it is a must in my opinion that you read it second to the first one from A.K. Landow in this series.
Onto the review aspect now 😀
Ava is the MFC and my god, she has been through quite a lot, hence why she’s been hurt before but now through a lot of learning and protecting she is a lot more careful of her heart and very much more in control of who she lets in. And to be honest with you all, I think that is what I love most about her besides the fact that she is also an amazing friend to her fellow authors & her cousins… they all get into a lot of fun with one another and the scenes were they are laughing kind of made me laugh too (just like I was apart of the group as well)! Plus, the support that is given within this tight-knit group is absolutely stunning, too, and very needed within more girl groups (or groups in general).
Maverick (aka Mav) is our MMC in this story and damn he fully gives off those I don’t do relationships/bad boy kinda vibes… but yet he does know what he wants in life and even without stating it he knows what is seemingly right for him. But damn Mav is also just so sensitive and loving towards those who get to see that side of him (namely those he holds close) but he kinda also shows that side of himself when he is supporting the other guys too and it's kinda cute!
Overall, you just kind of end up loving both main characters and their friends a whole bunch, and everything just ends up giving off those perfectly wholesome vibes of a match made in heaven!!! While reading, though, I laughed a lot, I argued a bit with myself on the characters, but overall, I just was loving the read. What I do have to say, though, is do not judge this book by its cover because it is amazing and a must-read. Can’t wait to see what else comes out of this world, and it was a blast!

Book 2 of this series from the Book Boyfriend Builders, and, I loved Maverick and Ava. They "met" in Read Me, Baby from Carolina, and there was alittle something something there. Ava, and her friends, have decided to help men become what women want, like the book boyfriends we read about (yes please). Jay and Nina from Read Me, Baby (like if you have not read this, why not, its soooooooo good, but also this can be read as a standalone, but still, read the other book......lol) sign Maverick up to Ava's class. Maverick comes across as the smart alec who certainly pushes all of the wrong buttons on Ava and believes this whole thing is stupid. In fact, he is determined to show the others, that it doesn't work and won't.
Ava is none too impressed with Maverick, as there are too many things about him that remind her of her ex husband Zach. Of course the to and fro of their snarky conversations just adds to the sexual tension, but as is shown, it comes from a place of protecting oneself, not wanting to get hurt. Mav and Ava have more in common than they think, and this is reflected back to them thru the eyes of those closest to them.
And.......when we see Ava's walls start to crumble, when she allows herself to take a chance with Mav, she realises that there is alot of depth to him, and how he too protects himself. The spice is off the Richter scale and its hold on tight as that tsunami unleashes......whoa baby. I loved these two, and Mav can sing me "great balls of fire" anytime he wants. As with the first, these books are all going to be amazing, and this deserved more than 5 stars. Thank you Carolina.

I absolutely love that this book is not a billionaire boyfriend book!!! Welcome to our Blue Collar Worker Maverick!!! Now don’t get me wrong, I do love the dream of meeting a wildly rich man who will sweep me off my feet and I can do all the things and see all the things I have ever wanted…..but let’s get real here for a second…we are more likely to meet a handsome blue collar worker than a single billionaire and I am down for that.
This is almost an enemies to lovers book, but I feel it is more of a “don’t judge a book by its cover”. Both Maverick and Ava made presumptions about the other after a chance meeting at book event; however they are both coming at things with huge barriers up and not truly willing to break them down …that is until BBB (Book Boyfriend Builders). Ugh my heart after reading this book is SO full! This is my first time reading this author and her ability to write characters that are so freaking relatable, is unmatched. The small town romance vibes are strong and I can now add another book boyfriend to my list.
Ava: recently divorced, romance author, has built a huge wall around her heart, decides to teach a class on how to become the best book boyfriend. *I’m obsessed with Al and Dick*. She’s a bit sassy when she lets her guard down. She doesn’t believe that she will ever find love.
Maverick: blue-collar guy *I love him*, everyone judges him for this, extremely witty and has the BEST banter lol, immediately intrigued by Ava, his best friends sign him up for her BBB class, broody, sexy, and ALL man.
This is book #2 in the BBB series and you’ll laugh, blush *the movie scene 🥵*, and omg the angst/push & pull between these characters is incredible.

“Making the Book Boyfriend” is a small town romantic comedy and the second book in the “Book Boyfriend Builders Series.” There is four book in this series, written by different authors. The second book is written by Carolina Jax - the story can best be described as enemies to lovers, with quite a few other tropes thrown in. I found myself laughing out loud so many times whilst reading.
Ava and her best author friends, Gemma, Libby and JoJo, are all at a book signing together. Later that night, lounging around in their pj’s and after copious amounts of alcohol, they come up with the idea of “Training men to become book boyfriends” via one on one consultations. They make an amazing video and post it on social medial for applications.
Ava decides to do a class instead and in walks Maverick, who has been signed by his best friends. “I didn't like him from the start. He reminds me of my ex-husband. This was not a good move.”
From the start, the tension between Ava and Maverick is extremely noticeable to all and boy, do the sparks fly. The more she gets to know him, Ava begins to realise that there is more to Maverick than what he portrays. Maverick is extremely “hot” for Ava and slowly she lets her barriers down. As the walls start to crumble, Ava starts to see there is more as he opens up more to him. The more time they spend together, the relationship develops, finding the more they have in common and they have fun together. Will everything work out for them? Will Maverick become the “best book boyfriend”?
This is a great book that will make you laugh - you will be hooked! It has fun, laughs, intrigue, twists that you do not expect, physical attraction and passion. I thoroughly enjoyed this beautiful love story. From page to page, chapter to chapter, you will enjoy this beautiful story - from cover to cover! This book will not disappoint! Highly recommended 😊

This is the 2nd book in the series, and its defiantly another five-star read, I have read all of Carolina’s books and enjoyed them all and would highly recommend reading if you haven’t already. She is my queen of small town romances. The plots are always good and always written in a way that you feel every emotion that the characters are going through.
Maverick and Ava are no different.

5 🌟 3 🌶 . Another great book in the series. Stand alone but with interconnected characters. Ava along with three female romance writer friends start a business to help guys learn/improve their book boyfriend characristics for their significant others/new relationships. Mav is a schepic about this and his friends sign him up for the classes. They have met before and it didn't go well. The sparks fly. Ava's last relationship left her feeling disappointed in her personal life and she can't let loose and have fun. Mav is the fun guy with a secret yearning to have a meaningful relationship. Their love story is so fun to see progress and how they each grow and connect. Highly recommend this interconnected series by four authors.

I absolutely enjoyed this one! It's a perfect second book in the series and a definite MUST read!
Ava has been hurt before and is so very careful to protect her heart and control. I love her friendship with ther fellow authors and her cousins, lots of fun and laughs but also support when its needed!
Maverick knows what he wants and is not willing to waste time on relationships he knows won't go anywhere. He's sensitive and so love how he supported the other guys too!

What. This was amazing. I want to kick my own $%# for never having read one of your books. WHY HAVENT I?! unacceptable. Now that THAT is out of the way, can I say this book was so freaking good???? Maverick....man..you can write your men! Ava got on my nerves for awhile ONLY BECAUSE like...its Maverick. she should have hopped on that train immediately like she wanted to. Ugh this collab with THESE BEAUTIFUL authors should happen once a year. If not more. I am here for these book boyfriends! And now I have added a new author to my ever growing collection.

I absolutely loved the banter and chemistry between Ava and Maverick in Making the Book Boyfriend by Carolina Jax, book two of the Book Boyfriend Builders Series!
Ava and Maverick met through mutual friends and had a spark but she felt he was a player, when shows up in her BBB class they push each other’s buttons and she kicks him out! Needless to say he comes back because he likes a challenge and apparently so does she!
This book has everything, spice, banter, hot couples, romance and Christmas! As always, the writing has me hooked from the beginning and kept me hanging on till the end. I wholly recommend this fun, spicy, enemies to lovers, Holiday rom com with a HEA!

What a duo Ava & Maverick are! Absolutely loved the playfulness & banter between them. Carolina did an awesome job building up the tension and when that match lit it was SO HOT. These are two characters I absolutely love (actually I love all Carolina’s characters, seriously) - Ava trusting herself & finally loosening up on control all while keeping her standards high and Maverick though slightly misunderstood having a huge heart with just the love to give to his forever girl. The perfect little holiday read!

I'm loving this series, even though you could read these as a stand alone as well.
Ava and Maverick ........ Let me say that Mav hooked me in his 1st chapter but once he met Ava again, I could understand Ava's opinion of him. Of course there's a reason why he behaves like he does but it's cringe when you don't know the why. But I absolutely love these 2 together! Ava and Mav definitely have the enemies to lovers trope down in this book. I didn't want to put it down and stayed up too late to finish. Zero regrets!

This was a really good feel good romance with the enemies to friends to lovers trope as a central part of the story. Ava and Maverick are hot together. Loved their banter and how they disliked each other so much but ended up completely in love. One thing I really appreciated in this story is the fact that Maverick was not made into a billionaire, a famous sports star or a rockstar. He was a blue collar HVAC repair man who is content with the work he does and the life he lives. This detail made the story so much more relatable to me. It was definitely a fun, fluffy but spicy holiday read.

This book was super cute and funny. I love it when they can’t stand each other, but it’s more “4” play instead, you know? It just makes the build up so much better in my mind! Maverick is like the sassy funny guy on the outside but once he starts letting us in, I think we all fall just as hard as Ava! Loved their story!

I think this is my favourite book by Carolina Jax!
I absolutely adore Maverick. He is the cutest guy. Ava is sweet but wary of being involved with "the fun guy" again. I really enjoyed how their relationship progressed, it felt so wholesome and magical.
I again really liked the Book Boyfriend Builders and the other characters involved.
