I think this is the first book I’ve read of Valerie Parv. And I liked it.

In short: the boss sort of ‘blackmails’ his secretary to pretend to be his wife. Later on they make it a real marriage.

He’s a passionate, smitten H. I especially liked the scene after their marriage in which she goes to the office and he just can’t stay away from her office room knowing that she’s there.

The scenes in which they are making out, are steamy. Those scenes are so incredibly well written that even a kiss seems hotter than hot. The scenes really do stand out.

H is a bit of a pig dog as he treats the h very shoddily. He uses a simple lie/mistake about her DOB to stalk her on her holiday and get her to pretend to be his wife for a friend he is also rather a chauvinist. He is rather cynical about love and women due his upbringing and his dads influence.

She is looking after her dying mother/paying for her to be in a home and takes a much needed holiday that the H follows her and he basically refuses to take no for an answer for he to help him out. He then blames her when his plans go awry, the "marriage" makes the papers and he has to make the marriage real. (He has an adopted daughter who was rather upset to find her dad got married without telling her). He also blames the h for the news leaking when it wasn't her at all.

The H is the adoptive dad of a little girl of his deceased brother and he isn't too gutted that the h likes his daughter. She accepts the MOC as she believes she can't have kids of her own due to the illness her mum is dying from. H kind of makes her leave her job with him too as staff won't like her anymore as his wife plus he finds her a distraction in the office. She doesn't share much info with the H as he makes assumptions all the time and doesn't really ask her personal questions. She is also reluctant to just share the info as her previous partner scarpered when her found out about her mum and the implications.

They amble along for a time but h thinks he only wants her physically and he has no trust in the h. H also makes more assumptions about the h when he finds her pills and assumes she is a hussy rather than fact she does take them to prevent passing on her genes. He thought she was medically incapable of having a child.

Once H finds out about the genes and the mum he and the h have a heart to heart about why she didn't trust him with her secrets - to be honest if i were her I wouldn't have told him either, he never gave any sign he would be interested and it was he who set out the rules to their MOC.

He then disappears of to do some investigating and doesn't let anyone know where he is for a few days. h ends up running his company and he finds out that she is not her mothers biological child. H says she can find somebody to love and be happy and she declares she already has in him. We then leave these 2 to make out in his office and ponder further down the line why she was adopted.

I felt like the pace of events is going too fast and a lot of things did not really make sense to me. I might have enjoyed reading this book, if more details were added concerning how the main characters think.

It was fine
I did find h somewhat doormat at times where i would have expected her to stand up for herself and not have treacherous body syndrome.
H was ok bit presumptuous.

Reread and liked better.

Original: I like MOC stories but this one felt distant and meaningless, blah.
