An International Bestseller, The Inside-Out Effect reveals powerful lessons on leadership and achieving your full potential as taught at Stanford University's Graduate and Executive Education Program. It draws upon cutting-edge neuroscience and research from psychology, sociology, and philosophy to create a comprehensive guide for leaders at any level to reinvigorate their lives and the lives of those they affect by pursuing inner-outer alignment. The Inside-Out Effect is based on a three-part process called KNOW-BE-LEAD. Through this method, the authors offer a series of powerful tools that take you to the brink of experiencing your work and life as a calling. They take you into the heart of greater fulfillment, performance, and leadership. Whereas many leadership development books focus on a series of "quick fix" techniques, this book begins and ends with understanding and cultivating yourself. When you begin to live and lead in alignment with your authentic self, you embark on an incredible journey toward peak performance and peak happiness.
This book was written by my friend Michael Terrell, so I am maybe a bit biased. I really enjoyed the read and would recommend it to anyone who is looking to closely examine what their goals are and if they are on track to reach them. I liked that the book had a good balance between idea presentation, questions for personal reflection, and case studies.
When I think about the high costs of turn-over and quiet quitting, I think about the importance of Benham Tabrizi’s Inside Out Effect. People don’t leave jobs, they leave poor leaders. This book, The Inside Out Effect, helps leaders do the deep work of holding a mirror to themselves and becoming the best version of themselves to support their team and organization. The Inside Out Effect applies structured tools and techniques to identify leadership blind spots and show leaders where and how to grow with an emphasis on self-awareness, core values, and personal and professional fulfillment. It’s a structured approach to the adage, ‘Be the change you want to see in the world.’ At its heart, the Inside out Effect is about knowing yourself as a leader and then building upon your strengths and growing your weak areas. The result is a deeper understanding of one’s leadership style, values, and how to create alignment and apply the book’s lessons. If you want to boost morale, productivity, and retain your top talent, I highly recommend reading and sharing copies with every member of your team.
