He's my brother's best friend. Until one kiss changes everything...
Izzy King knows dating former playboy, Blake Frost, behind her family’s back isn’t the greatest idea. When the attraction becomes too great to avoid, keeping their relationship a secret is the only way they can be together.
But, Izzy isn’t the only one keeping secrets.
The King brothers family are full of them and Blake knows everything.
Can Blake and her brothers keep her safe from the past that haunts them all?
He is forbidden but she just can't walk away from him.
G. Bailey is a USA Today bestselling author of books that are filled with everything from dragons to pirates. Plus, fantasy worlds and breath-taking adventures. Oh, and some swoon-worthy men that no girl could forget. G. Bailey is from the very rainy U.K. where she lives with her husband, two children and three cheeky dogs.
I love KU books and anything written by G. Bailey lately.
Secret was a pretty good book. In it, you will meet Izzy. Now she kind of had her world turned upside down. She went to school like any other normal day of being a foster kid. Only to be told that she has an actual family. About four brothers who had no idea she existed until the eldest one found her.
Of course everything was a bit slow and awkward for them. These guys never had a sister yet they were beyond protective of her. Then there's the drama that unfolded before their eyes. Izzy falling in love with one of her brothers best friends: Blake. Now I totally get that he was a player before her... but aren't most guys?
These two were cute and adorable. I completely shipped them with my whole heart and I just wanted to see where this book would take them. Now i'm totally obsessed with one of her brothers and Allie. Which is why I can't wait to dive into the next book. Other than that, this book definitely reminded me of previous books I've read. That doesn't mean I didn't enjoy it or now.. but it just reminded me of them.
I did not finish this book. To me the storyline is too fake or superficial. Starting at the beginning where she tries to lead us into her life as a foster child, then to school where she finds out she has a brother who is taking custody of her. I couldn't get past the part where her other brother shopped for a whole day buying her everything, after only meeting her the night before. The author tells the story, but didn't draw me in. She doesn't create any emotion, and that for me is essential in reading.
First of all let me say that G Bailey is a genius mastermind. I have loved everyone single one of her books I have read so far, and this one might top the cake! I honestly don't know how she can write so many amazing series. I'm definitely about to go on a binge and read all of though!! XD
The plot was really cool! I was expecting a MC sort of thing, but a underground fight club was just as fun. The guys definitely should've have spilled their secret sooner though, a lot of pain and a kidnapping could have been avoided!
Blake... aww Blake. Definitely tops the book boyfriend list for me. I love how he was this buff tatted guy, but he completely fell head over heels for Izzy the first time he saw her. And he didn't fight his "girly" feelings, he even drew her pictures and kinda stalked her (but in the sweet way lol)!
The one thing I didn't like is all of their ages. Like you expect me to believe they are 16 and 17 with bodies built like a tree, tats everywhere, and f*cking that would make a grown man blush?? Nuh uh. I imagined them being in their late 20s. I really wish the author wrote them that way too.
I am superrrrr excited to read about the brothers in the next books! I loved them all so much (even Elliot) I really hope we get to know him better and learn why he acts the way he does. I bet he's a big teddy bear underneath all the grunts and growls. They always are! :))
I actually really enjoyed this! I didn’t really have any expectations from this one.
Starts off with Izzy who lives with her foster parents finding out that she has family left in the world, 4 brothers actually. She moves from her foster home and in with the brothers who live together. She ends up meeting and falling for their friend Blake. This is where our story really takes off. They decide to keep their relationship a secret because they know that her brothers will not approve. I really wasn’t sure how to feel about Blake in the beginning. He was known around as being a player so I didn’t really trust in him in the beginning.
I gave it 4 instead of 5 stars for a couple of reasons. The writing wasn’t the greatest and the story was predictable at times and things seemed to go too perfect. Also, I know everybody has a past, but Blake's manwhoring kept coming up and biting him in the ass at every turn. I started to feel sorry for Izzy a little, everywhere she turned either a crazy ex would come out of nowhere or his past was always brought up.
All in all, even though the writing was a little choppy it was a book that I couldn’t seem to put down and I wouldn’t mind reading again.
Honestly I only read this book because someone recommended book 2 to me and even though they’re stand alones if I’m going to read a book that’s in a series I like to start at the beginning.
This was like reading a wattpad story written by an innocent 14 year old girl who daydreamed about having a rebellious Insta love relationship. It was not great, it was EXXXXXTRREMELY cringe from every direction and every character.
Literally the female and male mc knew eachother for 1 day and were ready to ruin every other relationship in their life for eachother. The entire relationship was just super cringe.
On top of that the other characters were all terrible and cringe. They had bad personalities and annoying side stories going on that didn’t make sense.
Great examples of things that do not make sense: This girl just got picked up from school from some dude saying he’s her brother and got custody of her and she moves in with him (there is no heads up for her that he’s trying to get custody or anything, doesn’t make sense) then instantly with zero relationship building everybody is overprotective of their sister and call her “sis” every 2 seconds.
Then everybody knew she was their sister, she had their last name and everything. But suddenly she couldn’t tell people in town she was their sister it was one thing for the entire school to know but people in town couldn’t find out because Arthur can’t know. If Arthur was so big and bad he’d know instantly she was there lol what.
Her mom and their dads relationship made zero sense as well, I can’t even explain it.
Honestly, just so many plot holes. Like there was no thought put into it at all. I’m going to start book 2 to see if it is decent enough to continue, but if not I’ll dnf.
Blurb: When you start living with your four overprotective brothers for the first time, the smart thing is to avoid their extremely hot best friend, and not kiss him. Right?
Izzy King knows dating former playboy, Blake Frost, behind her family’s back isn’t the greatest idea. When the attraction becomes too great to avoid, keeping their relationship a secret is the only way they can be together. But, Izzy isn’t the only one keeping secrets. The King brothers are full of them. Can Blake and her brothers keep her safe from the past that haunts them all? These kings could destroy her, but she isn't able to walk away...Danger, lust, and King brothers never mix well.
We´ ve got a 17 year old foster kid beeing found and adopted by her brothers, who she didn´t know she had. She moves in with them and falls in love with their best friend. Cue the drama. If y´all wanna know how it ends read the book! BTW he´s a hunk o´ spunk ;)
The storyline is good BUT there are so many mistakes that it kinda ruins the overall effect. "[T]here" instead of "they´re", "though" instead of "through" (...), names written uncapitalised e.g. "summer" and often you could pick and choose which wording you prefer. For example as an answer to the question if Izzy is hungry, we get this: "I actually I am". My guess is, that it is supposed to be one of the following sentences: "I actually am.","I am actually.", "Actually I am" or simply "I am.". Oh I can´t leave out my favourite one "sixtieth birthday" instead of "sixteenth". (That one had me in stitches, because they were clearly talking about highschoolers.)
To the author: Please, please Mrs. Bailey I´m begging you revise your work and you`ve got a pretty amazing book.
To potential readers: Nevertheless if you are looking for a fun romance with a bit of spice thrown in, you should definitely read the book.
The author never explains, why all King brothers accept Izzy as their sister and love her and be protective about her from the very beginning. Nice book, liked the characters.

I couldn’t even read it. Though the plot seemed interesting it was so poorly written, Liszy tells us she has “long almost white blonde hair” every two mins like okayyyy we get it. Very disappointed.
This is the first contemporary book that I've tried of G. Bailey's. I've only read her paranormal/fantasy books. And I will admit right off the bat that I definitely like her fantasy books best. This book was good but it lacked a little for me.
This book is basically Izzy and Blake's love story. There wasn't enough of the other plot line for me to give this book five stars. I did like reading about the two of them falling for one another and whatever. But I needed more of something else to totally love this.
Omg!! First, this is the first book I’ve read written by G. Bailey and I loved it!! Secret is the first book in the King's Brothers series tho, the King sibling in this story is a girl - Izzy. I love the story and the characters of this book. I was easily captivated by the story and I was intrigued on what will happen next. I love the swoony feeling I got when I read their story. Overall, this book is an amazing read!! Looking forward to read the next book of the Kings Brothers!!!
This book raised an important question for me, when players meet ‘the one’ (or the one they really want for the time being) do they all fall head over heels so fast? So Blake sees Izzy at a party, she’s the new girl so what does he do, say hi? Offer her a drink? No, he kisses her and she thinks that’s totally fine. He’s basically obsessed with her after that 3 minute interaction, draws her (not in that sexy titanic way, more the staring at you while you sleep way), takes every opportunity to turn up (even on girls nights out) to bang her (sorry to be crude but that’s what it was in the pub, not making love in a broom closet) then he sneaks in her room, gets caught by her gangster-esc brothers, gets shot, saves her from a kidnapping gangster and all this happens over the course of 1 month. Now, I don’t doubt after all the drama in that month and the forbidden fruit romance they had going on that they fell in love but at the start, those feelings and that relationship was so rushed it was unrealistic.
Also, let’s mention the 18+ rating on this. Sorry but so many YA/NA books are more risqué without that daft rating. There are moments when you can see the age of the author in this and you just know she’s not 17/18 like the characters, some slip ups and forced conversations that just don’t have that flow but mostly the rating gave it away; I think a 15 year old would read this book and not be shocked at all; sex, violence and swearing are an expectation when you’re reading a book about teenagers. You really need to work to earn that 18+ rating and I do wish the author had pushed this further because I just feel kinda let down by this book in so many ways.
HOWEVER, I will read the sequel because... well I don’t know why but I just probably will 😂

What A Wonderful Series Beginning ♡♡♡ Love the King family. Izzy was a character that most certainly tugs upon your heart. Blake is an amazing guy... once he falls for her 😉 There is just something so sigh inducing about the bad boy who becomes tame. All of the King brothers have such charisma, it's going to be awesome seeing each guy fall in love and discover more about them. There were a ton of "Oh no" moments but a lot of sweet scenes as well. Ms. Bailey is such a talented authoress. She makes these little details be known about different characters so that the reader is completely drawn in and has to read the rest of the series ♡♡♡♡ I buy anything by her at first sight, she's just that wonderful!
*I received a free copy of this book which I voluntarily chose to write an honest review for.
Great introduction to what is going to be a great romance series centered in the King kids. We meet Izzy as she is rescued from a horrible home life by four brothers she never knew existed. They welcome her into their home with open arms though she has her doubts. This changes her life completely yet she is still able to fall in love with the brothers best friend making it necessary to hide their romance for a while. The problem is that they have secrets too that get pretty explosive when they come to light. Great contemporary romance that mostly falls into the new adult category. I really liked it so I give 4/5 stars.
Izzy is such an interesting character. Her mother died and put her into the foster care system. Yet while living with her drunk partying foster parents, she doesn't lose any of her innocence or goodness. Her long lost older brother she never knew comes to the rescue and takes Izzy to live with him. She now has an insta-family with her 4 protective brothers. What happens to Izzy in this new house when she falls for one of her brothers best friends? Also, how will she handle all the secrets of the house? She is going to have to figure a way because the secrets are going to catch up to her and her brothers. Another great start to a series for Gem!
Oh my I don’t think I could find the right words to describe this book except to say I freaking loved it! Izzy and Blake’s story was a whirlwind of a roller coaster ride. So many ups and downs but oh so amazing! G. Bailey definitely knows how to weave intense but awesome stories. I really like the way she makes all the main characters the perfect blend of vulnerable and kick butt. Anyway yes I most definitely recommend this book because I think it’s amazing!
Oh my! Such an awesome read! Izzy is such an awesome character and Blake gives you all the right chills!! Their story was HOT and I do so love a bad boy tuned good with the love of a good woman. Great story G Bailey! I had held off on reading this not knowing if I would enjoy it, but boy I have seriously been missing out. Can’t wait to read and learn more about our VERY fine King Brothers :D
Great start to a new series. I really enjoyed this book I couldn't put it down. Izzy has been in foster care since her mom died of cancer. She didn't know she had four brothers. Harley, Sebastian, Elliott, and Luke have moved their little sister in with them and want to take care of her. Blake, Sebastian's best friend is taken with her at first sight. The brothers are very overprotective of her so she and Blake decide to keep their relationship a secret. Their love story is sweet and they are perfect for each other. I loved the King family and can't wait to read all of their stories.
The storyline premise was really good, unfortunately the writing isn’t. The dialog is awful, like 13yr old fanfic. The location is England, which means their high school ends at 17 & they don’t wear tub tops & hot pants to them. Then there’s the brothers… lawdy Lawd. Yes, we all know who Tristan & Allie father is & we know who Lily is cheating with. There’s no actual secret or suspense.
2.5-3 stars. This has been my first contemporary by G Bailey. I’m so used to her writing paranormal and RH so I was super excited to give this a try. This book was fast to get right into everything. Super fast paced plot with some intense insta love/lust. The MCs were the most rounded of the characters but in all honesty neither of them were all too deep. All the rest of the characters have some really intense vagueness to all their stories and personalities that I’m assuming is part of the continuation of the series. I wasn’t a fan of all the vagueness as a set up for the next books. I would have liked a little more information I think to better get to know he characters before delving into their stories. I feel like that might have made it a little easier to connect with everyone and maybe become more involved with the story.
Our FMC Izzy has been in and out of foster care since her mom’s death until a savior comes to rescue her. Stating he is her brother and he’s been looking for her since their fathers death. Izzy sets out on her new life with her be family. Of course as soon as she arrives at her new home she meets playboy Extraordinaire Blake who immediately fall for Izzy. Keeping their relationship a secret from all her protective new brothers seems to be a good idea... especially considering her brothers extracurricular activities. Her brothers are involved in an underground fight ring. Highly illegal and as Izzy soon learns way more dangerous than she could have imagined. The boss running the fights learn about Izzy and she soon becomes collateral. It’s up to Blake and her brothers to save their newfound family...
I think my biggest issue came from the secondary plot line. The underground fighting ring and how the brothers and, it seems the whole town have become involved with it. While I liked the overall idea of it I wasn’t a huge fan of how it was brought around and resolved here. It just didn’t make enough sense to me for it to have gone down the way it was written.
All in all it was a decent super fast read I just never got super involved. I may continue the series at a later time but I think I will stick to G Baileys Paranormal romances for a while
Hooked from the start I love this story. Izzys life has not been so great since her mum died. She knows nothing of her father and ends up in foster care and whilst not abused she is treated badly and life is sucky
All of a sudden her half brother (she knew nothing about) claims her and takes her to live with him and his three brothers (her half brothers)
The story is full of twists and turns, secrets and Lies, romance and danger. This is a well written story which captured my attention and held it all the way through
A cast of great characters backs up the story, with hints into each brothers life and secrets, told in dual POV, a great start to a new series and I highly recommend
I'm going to be honest the book was good, the story was good also but the the way the delivery happened and the the way it was written didn't really flow to me. I'm not sure if I'm exposing right but it just felt robotic and it just got on my nerves as I was reading. I want to read the other books to see what happens with the other brothers but it just don't like the way it was written. If they are anything like this book I will just skip over he rest of the books in this series as a whole. Plus this was very instalove or insta lust..... sigh
Izzy lives in crappy foster care u too she finds out she's got four brothers she never knew about. Swept away to a new life, she slowly finding her place. Of course she falls for her brothers best friend. She's not the one keeping secrets though. Her new brothers are living a very dangerous lifestyle.
I think it was a good story. Some editing issues and couple timeline errors but the Tory was strong enough to withstand it.
This books reads horrible. It feels rushed and so many details are left out. Couldn’t get into it or finish it. The brothers are brushed over when I want a little more details about them and the timeline jumps way too much.
