Life is hard when you don’t know who you are, It’s even harder if you don’t know what you are.

And Anton, the packmate with a checkered past that nobody really knows anything about.
And then there is Layla, who has a secret...one that she doesn’t even know yet herself.

A young aldult read. Not usually something I’d go for, but it’s definitely good having a change. Witches and realms, Werewolves and portals, Secrets in the family and friends with two lives. I really REALLY enjoyed this read. Lianca Heart I look forward to reading more of your stuff!
Dark secrets HEA Fated mates Witches and wolf shifters Talking cats Magical portals
Loved this book. Lianca Heart is a new author to me. I couldn’t put it down. Held my interest right from the first page.
Layla thinks she’s different. She’s leads a quiet peaceful life in her werewolf pack. She doesn’t have many friends and keeps to herself. Emile (the future Alpha) & Anton the pack mate with a past make a bet towards Layla with Emile as he can get any girl to fall for him.
Secrets and twists that I didn’t see coming. Love hearing characters different POVs. Really enjoyed this debut book and I can’t wait for more from this author.
Miss Heart contacted me via Facebook and asked me if I would read her book. I flat out told her that if I had to fight my way to pg 50 that I would put it down... So I started it. Got to pg 50 pretty quickly... Then after the book took a hairpin turn I could not put it down. A really well done piece you have done here!! I don't write many of these, but this was worth it... Thank you!
I devoured this book in 2 days. It kept me entertained the entire time! This is a wonderful YA romantasy without being “too” YA. There were so many secrets that kept being revealed that makes you want to finish it ASAP. And the banter in the beginning? It really gave the feel of actual conversations/banter high school kids would have and I loved that! The only reason it didn’t get 5 starts was because I wanted more regarding some important conversations towards the end. If some of those conversations were elaborated more, this would be a 5 star read for me. This was an awesome debut book! Can’t wait to see what else Lianca writes in the future!
Ive liked this more than most of the fantasy books I’ve read as of late. As a twilight era girlie, this book felt so nostalgic & fully entertaining. I’m loving this book and the magic system is SO FUN. There’s werewolves, mystery, action, angst, witty banter, a game for her heart and secrets unknown to even those most affected. This book hooked me and gripped me from the beginning and was an easy, fast paced read! A great start for a new author!
I don't normally read young adult, yes I've read a few, but all and all I don't read them. But I gave this a try. Layla, Anton, and Emile are good stand alone characters with well thought out backgrounds/personalities. The supporting characters, as well. They all have intertwined paths that bring them together. I really wanted what was best for them all, but my lips are sealed. The story is well thought out and I couldn't find any plot holes. There are some questions I have, but they're minor. While the characters' lives are all "tangled" up (see what I did there?) I felt somewhat guided through parts of the story. There are definite twists and some things really surprised me, in a very good way. You will have to read it yourself and find out. At first it seems like it's a "guys meet girl, and start vying for her attention." There's a few more twists, but still it seems like it's just a young adult romance…until it isn't. The book twists around and then it's action and Layla has more to worry about than Emile and Anton trying to play on her heart strings—which she isn't all that certain she wants anyway. There are more twists that you'll love to learn about. I know none of their stories end with this book. I believe the ending was rushed more than just an opening for the next book. The things that were resolved, and left with an opening for the second book, weren't as rushed and left me feeling content. I wish there was more world building, especially in the other realms—hopefully we're shown more later. I imagine they're wonder and amazing. And if the realms are anything like Ms. Heart's characters, they'll be breathtaking. Like I said, the characters are all their own and really thought out: Emile is the alpha in training, he seems to act the part, too. Arrogant, self-absorbed, and he gets which ever girl he wants. But that's on the surface. He has his faults that aren't always of his own doing, and it just goes to show that people always have multiple sides to them. Sometimes they're hurting in ways we don't understand and sometimes never will. Anton is the ultimate best friend and also pretty self-absorbed, or so it looks on the surface. We can see his weak points. These boys, along with their friend Tyler, are very relatable. He's a sweet guy on the inside, wants to fit in and be there for his friends. There's more to him and Anton's conflicted about his future. Layla is quieter, likes books, and would rather never be noticed by the three super popular, self-absorbed boys who are about to pull her life in a drastic way. Tyler, not so much, though. She has a good sense of humor, which only comes out when people get to know her. She has her best friends that she'll stand up to anyone for. I do wish she'd have been a little more strict with Anton and Emile. Told them "no" more often.
Did I plan to finish this in one sitting? No, but the story just kept flowing.
I was a bit scared when I realized it had 3 POV as I had never been able to get into a book with more than two. The author did a really great job at changing the pov and keeping the character's voice their own. Sometimes, I felt like some of the pov were too short, but in hindsight, it really did still work well.
The characters all have distinct personalities and it never got too overwhelming when multiple people were in the conversation, which is something I usually struggle with. The characters were all introduced at appropriate times and not all thrown in at once, which might be my number one reason I stop reading a book immediately. The humor for Layla, Anton, and Emile gave me several laughs, and the characters were easily likeable at the right times. I loved that it was not too overly descriptive with flowery writing. There was just enough to paint the scene, and then get to the real story, which is hard to find in fantasy.
Although there were some formatting issues, tense flips, and random little errors, not a single one of them took me away from the story like they usually would. Overall, I'd definitely recommend for anyone who likes light fantasy. It was easy to follow along, the magic system so far is intriguing and not too overwhelming. I just felt like everything in the book had just the right balance.
One of my favorite quotes: "No wonder I was confused about what love was."
*BOOK REVIEW* BOOK: Tangled Secrets AUTHOR: Lianca Heart REVIEW: This book was a fun time! I loved the character and world-building. The romance was well done as well! The book follows Layla who is a quiet and unpopular girl in her werewolf pack, Emile the future Alpha, and Anton who is a werewolf that has a past he doesn't remember and no one knows about who was adopted by a good family. Anton and Emile make a bet that they can get Layla to fall in love with them. When Layla gets a family heirloom, cracks are made in her life and she learns of a secret she never knew before. After an attempt on her life, her friends and family must flee in order to survive. This book was almost like a paranormal She's All That! I loved every second! I can't wait to read more from Lianca in the future! RATING: 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟/🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
To be honest I struggled through this book. I received this as an ARC in exchange for an honest review. It started strong but you get over halfway before you start getting into the "secrets" and learning where this book is going.
The characters were good. I liked how developed they were. They each were struggling with different things in their lives. The premise of this book was interesting but I felt like the pacing was off in this book. It felt like it took so long to start really getting into some of the questions and answers of each character that the ending felt rushed. I wanted some more development for each character's storyline. Trying to wrap up 3 different storylines made the book feel chaotic at times. I feel like I'm left with more questions than answers.
Lianca Heart reached out to me to ask if I would be willing to read her debut novel, a YA fantasy romance and I immediately jumped on that train because, say less. I love nothing more than a good YA Romantasy. This book was thick with plot, secrets, and character growth. I loved all of the characters, the banter, the worlds, and the portal system to the worlds. At times it felt a bit rushed but honestly, this was a good read. As a debut novel by an Indie Author, this book might have missed my radar had she not reached out to me so I’m thankful that she did. This was a very enjoyable HEA quick read that thankfully did not leave me hanging off of a cliff at the end.
I really enjoyed this book and it’s very interesting world building. The mystery and secrets don’t all get answered and I’m intrigued to see where the author will go from here. I love the idea of portal travel and the different worlds. I liked the almost love triangle between the FMC and the 2 MMCs (all of whom you get parts of the story from the pov). I would definitely like to know more about the villains of this story who were after the FMC, and more about the characters and their lives as they continue on with their lives. This is a great debut novel and one for any fan of shifters, witches, and magic.
When I tell you this book is good, I say it's good! It's a YA but it's like borderline YA. I was a little worried because I can't seem to understand fantasy and can't get into them. However, that wasn't the case with this book it has 3 points of views of the characters I really enjoyed them they had their own little things to say. however, I wish they were smaller but I really did enjoy this book. I highly recommend this book.
If you’re a fan of werewolves, witches, and shapeshifters, this is definitely a book to read! The characters were so much fun to learn about and the plot was fantastic! I was captivated the entire time I was reading and couldn’t put my kindle down! Layla, Anton, and Emile were so interesting. Secrets are revealed at the perfect time and the pacing of the book was amazing!
This book went places I never imagined. What I thought was going to be just another Shifter Romance was everything but! This exquisite read is a beautiful introduction to a new universe filled with many paranormal species.
At the end of the book, the author asks whose story we want to read next. I would love to read if you know who finds his fated. I think he deserves it. <3
I cannot wait to read more in the future. Thank you so much for sharing your story with the world Lianca.
My daughter (13) and I LOVED this world(s) of wolves, witches, royalties and a silly cat! The book was easy to follow and a real page turner. Fun, funny, spontaneous, surprising with just the right amount of butterflies-in-the-tummy moments.
We can't wait for the rest of the series to be released to find out what happened to the characters - especially Emile and the twins!
Tangled Secrets has everything you would want in a fantasy book. Fated mates with amazing banter to deep secrets to mysteries along with witches and werewolves, but also magical portals! What hello yes please.
It has beautiful character development - I love Layla and her chemistry between the Anton and Emile but the banter between Layla and Anton is everything.
As this is Lianca Heart’s first book it by far reached my expectations. I look forward to reading the next book in the series to see what happens with everyone.

I absolutely loved the twists in this book! With werewolves, witches and more it was a new world that I can't get enough of and truly can't wait for more! I lost sleep reading this book because I got so hooked on the story!
What a tangled web weaved! This is a really wonderful YA novel. Despite the ages of the characters, there's little if any angst which was refreshing. Layla is already a strong independent woman at 17. She takes crap from no one. The other characters are great too.
The story took forks and bends in the road I wasn't expecting. It kept me engrossed fully. I'd love to read more about all of it. Emile. The twins. Layla's family. Her witch line.
I highly recommend this book for anyone who likes romance, shifters, Witches, fantasy. There's nothing more than kissing so it's appropriate for teens and up.
