This sequel continued Tess McCormick’s story as she remained on the small North Carolina island, uncovering secrets surrounding her late husband while navigating grief, danger, and her growing connection with Nick. The mystery and small-town setting kept the story engaging, though the pace felt slow at times. Overall, it remained a heartfelt beachy mystery with touches of romance and suspense!

I am just so sick of the whining and "poor me" crap when someone loses a spouse or a child or both. The "I will never love again and I will stop working and lose everything I owned and blah, blah." This is the third book in a row with this crap. Three different authors, same story. Now the main character is getting ready to do something stupid but we have to wait for book three. Needless to say if she takes a small boat out in the middle of a storm she has the brains of a gnat. Since she is a retired Chicago police officer she must of had a brain bleed since she retired.
… the book needs serious editing. The wording misuses, misspelling, incomplete sentences, grammatical errors in general, etc. was a real deterrent to the reading throughout the series. The storyline was okay but a was a hard start in Book One to figure out what was going on and who was who. I didn’t like the author’s writing style throughout this entire series (new for me because I really like her many other series of books) but was interesting enough to keep me reading.
