Loving You

Rate this book
After her divorce, Abby feels broken. But Dylan, a much younger man, is determined to put her back together in this steamy, holiday, curvy girl romance.

Abby has given up on falling in love again after her divorce. As a forty-five-year-old single mom, she’s so busy keeping up with the demands of work and raising her daughter, Stella, she barely has time to get her oil changed. If the right guy ever came along, she’d make time. So far, he’s nowhere to be found, and Abby is sick of men who have hefty needs yet aren’t willing to meet hers. Not to mention being single during the holidays is a different kind of suffering.

Dylan is twenty-seven, owns an appliance repair business, and has never been in love. Women his age are boring, and he’s convinced a partner and family may never be in the cards for him.

Until he meets Abby. As soon as she blows into her house like a storm while he’s repairing her washing machine, she’s branded in his brain.

Abby is all Dylan can think about. When he finally tells her how he feels, Abby isn’t sure if she believes a hot, young man is really falling for her, or if he’s just another guy trying to fulfill a fantasy at her expense.

If you love steamy, small town romances with Christmas vibes, you’ll devour Abby and Dylan’s story.

I was able to read this in less than an hour, so it’s a pretty fast read, but very well written! Abby is a 45 y/o single mom who’s been cheated on and made fun of because of her weight, her trust isn’t easily won by men because of this. She’s struggling to keep it all together and isn’t sure if she can let her guard down when Dylan comes into her life. He’s a 27 y/o repairman who seems to understand her like no one else ever has, but her ex has some choice things to say about it and she gets bent out of shape when she sees Dylan with a young man who asked for her number to win a bet… can they find happiness together or will Abby let these things push them apart? - Spice level: 2.5/5.

First, this was a cute, easy read. I love a book I can sit down and finish quickly without much thought. It was enjoyable but lacking in some areas.

I am an English professor, & grammar is a huge thing for me. It felt like the editing was lacking here. There are comma splices, spacing errors, and other issues like quotation marks that throw me off because that’s what I focus on.
The book also uses dialogue to tell the reader about a character, like things that aren’t natural for conversation, instead of description. Normal dialogue doesn’t reiterate a person’s personality traits or tell details that friends just know about each other. The dialogue is also used to make up for deeper actual descriptors or connections between characters instead of writing those scenes. For example, instead of giving us a scene between Dylan and Abby, we get told through dialogue that they talked a lot about x, y, and z (no spoilers) instead of just letting us get to know the characters better through those scenes.

The focus is definitely on the steamy parts, but those scenes are too involved in certain aspects also, like there is too much inner dialogue instead of steam. It feels like the conversation is trying to tell us how things are supposed to feel or go instead of showing us.

Again, these are small nuances that I’m more focused on. However, the story itself was cute and an easy couple hour read.

Katie never disappoints! NEVER, NEVER, NEVER! I have loved every single book of hers. This one is no different. After reading Choosing You, I couldn’t wait for Abbey’s story how it ended. It was definitely worth the wait, because this book made me love her and the other ladies even more. Then there is Dylan! One word……… PERFECTION! So perfect that he is a DREAM… I never want to wake up from. This universe Katie has created with these wonderful character’s, is experience you don’t want to miss out on. You will laugh, maybe shed a tear or two, but by the end your heart will feel so full! ALWAYS, ALL THE FEELS! I will never get enough of her books and always look forward to more! Thank you Katie for always delivering EVERYTHING AND SO MUCH MORE!!!!

This was a cute story, with precious images of a small town during the Christmas season. It’s a quick 100 pages, and would be a fun read closer to the holidays. Abby’s character is sweet, but Dylan’s was a little hard to believe. He was too perfect. This is a cozy, easy romance.

Once again Katie didn’t not disappoint with this love story. Loved Abby and Dylan, from their meet cute, their chemistry to falling in love. After every book of hers, I think … this is my new favorite couple of hers.

Perfect romance with the right amount of heat.

Loving Katie’s book universe and all the characters in it. Love that we get glimpses of previous characters. Her descriptions make you feel like you’re right there in the book/small town with them.

Highly recommend any of her books! They will not let you down.
